I have this exact DJII, and love it! Unless you are comparing side by side with a DJ41 you really can’t tell the difference in size.

Come on now, which watch to wear on the big trip. When I leave LAX for SYD. One trip I may wear my sub. Next trip my day date, another trip down under I wear my GMT. If I want to see what time it is in Fiji, Auckland or SYD. I look at the screen in front of me. I’m a commercial pilot. Once the captain asked me what I thought of the A380? The guy was wearing a ten dollar plastic Casio. Honest to God.

Interesting comparison. I have the 116610LN sub date. Which is the supercase, maxi dial and ceramic bezels Model. I prefer this model over the new Sub date 41mm. I like the thicker lugs while still having the slimmer braclet and clasp. Which I know is the most common criticism pf the 116610 model. The Maxi case model wears like a more rugged tool watch than the 41mm sub. So, in that instance, I can make the argue that the Maxicase has its pluses. However, I prefer the 41mm DJ over the DJII. I find the proportions to be more elegant and less bulky. The DJ41 is not a small watch, so it is still presents as a masculine piece. Where as some consider the 36mm more of a unisex size. The other thing to consider is that the DJII is not available with the jubilee braclet. Making it sportier vs a dress watch. That's my humble opinion, which I hope gives some valuable insight. As, I love to hear other watch afficnados opinions. Wear them in good health.

Tudor 79090 wins always! Next to that its not meant to being a rival for the Rolex Submariner. The 79090 case and parts are the same as the Rolex 1680

Meh … for me. Wish the dial was more textured rocky grainy ish. This dial is just too cold and clinical and science lab looking.

Great review but when talking about a history of the freak you should use original photo of the freak from 2001 and not the modern one. Also would be nice to hear for the audience how it wears and its dimensions. I own the Freak X Rose Gold and I it is the most comfortable watch in my collection and I cannot stress this enough how this should be talked about as I think this case design truly deserves recognition. At 43mm it wears like a 41mm! Box crystal on this watch is another highlight, it's unlike anything else I have ever seen. This watch on a velcro strap is a killer daily. It's unique, innovative and yet extremely friendly on the wrist!

With the Speedmaster professional, I prefer the Hesalite over sapphire glass any day. But with this one, I think the FOIS just looks cleaner, sharper, and better than the old 2998 or 105.003.

I bought the original 1655 in 1978 for about $850. I t was expensive for that time...but not insanely priced. Fast forward twenty years and I HAD to sell it. Collectors had driven the price up to an insane $30,000! So I sold it and now sport a Steinhart homage. The OLKO Special Edition of the Steinhart Ocean 39 GMT gives me the look I loved then and still love today. But in a vastly superior watch to that old 70s era Rolex - and for just about $500! To my eye, the original Explorer II, and now this Steinhart, are the best looking watches ever made. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But to MY eye, it is a perfect watch. I like the newest iterations from Rolex, but the price is too high and the watch is too big. So I'll stick to my Steinhart and smile everytime I check the time. 😎👍

Unless that mechanical movement is highly innovative and finely decorated by hand it really shouldn't make any difference between off shelf mechanical movement and Quartz , in that case its the build quality and the finishing of the case , bracelet and dial that should count .

I’ve been checking for one of these and the Tudor submariner is just about the same price of a Rolex submariner which takes me to no doubt to buy the Rolex of course! The difference in price it’s almost nothing! Couple of dollars in change and you have yourself a nice Rolex submariner, I will definitely get myself one again, I got my submariner stolen from my house and I will buy another one for sure without regrets. 😂😉

Generally yes, but we made sure we were in the AM :) though if ever unsure its always safer to set the time with the hour hand between 4 and 8.

The plexi 79090 here is more comparible to the Rolex 1680. The 79190 replaced it in 1995 and utilized a saphire crystal and would have been a better direct comparison to the 16610. The 79190 was the last Tudor submariner to be a near Identical alternative minus the movement and dial printing to the submariner.
