Is the 2025 Dodge Charger a DISAPPOINTMENT?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Dodge has officially revealed the new Charger. It now comes as a fully electric Daytona with 670hp and an In-Line 6 with either 420hp or 550hp.
But we'll have to wait until we see them on the road to make a definitive review!
Thanks for watching!
Quick disclaimer: It may not seem like it, but I'm a huge Dodge fan! They know how to make iconic muscle cars and beautiful V8 engines. It's just a shame they are being forced to ditch these things.

2018 scat pack was $40000. its now $15000 for the none wide body version. And remember, its a 20 year old chassis if you count the Magnum. My guess, the EV version is going to be $60000 for the R/T and $70000+ for the Scat Pack.

I guess there can be at least one muscle car that’s electric for those who want new experiences. But as for gasoline engines, most people prefer tradition. Sure, muscle cars don’t have strict requirements but traditionally, they have a V8 and RWD, are usually 2-door but sometimes 4-door and they sometimes have a supercharger for added performance. This car is different from its predecessors in terms of powertrain, drivetrain and body style and almost nobody likes these changes. I don’t think any other car introduced this year will be criticized as much as this one, even though it’s very nice on the exterior. Speaking if that, people usually reveal the inside of something to be better-looking than outside but for this car, it’s the opposite, just like poorly-designed mattresses that may look elegant but the inside can deteriorate posture.

Tip of the cap to Tim Kuniskis. He's making a very bold leap into being the first muscle car EV. He knows Hyundai is breathing down their necks with the 5N, and the imminent 6N - which will be an absolute monster. He's at the very least getting a jump ahead of Chevrolet and Ford, and I applaud him for that. All these dated dinosaur comments about EVs not being muscle.. blah, blah, blah .. continue to be entertainment in these comments. See if you can outrun Croatia's Rimac Nevera. 🐲Those cats were WAAAAAYYYY ahead of the game while we were still obsessing over cubic inches. Time to wake up to the 21st Century. Now.. as for the EV Charger. My comment comes from someone who used to own a 2018 Charger SRT Scat Pack, and I loved that car. And I got so fired up over the Charger concept. But the production model is a major disappointment. The shape is the concept, but the width, ride height, stance, et al is nothing like the concept. No clue what happened in the design production department. They weren't talking to the concept team department. Regardless, Tim needs to clean that up. The 4x4 look of the Charger and skinny-winnie chassis from what looks to be leveraged from a 2015 Charger has got to be trashed. Maybe Dodge will figure out the design by the 2028 model. 🤷‍♂

Governments here in Europe have already decided to switch to electric cars by the 2030/40s. I really don't know any Gear Head who's getting over the moon with any EV you can come up with: Dodge or any other make... But given the current energy transition, which is a necessity unfortunately, the EV is one of the ways to go to replace the fossil fuel engine vehicle. It most certainly is not the only way... I mean Toyota and other car manufacturers are on par with the transition; with Hydrogen Combustion Engines: they sound like a fossil engine, they behave like a fossil engine and they drive like a fossil engine and the only thing besides a roar is water vape coming from the exhaust! In fact: Toyota asked Yamaha to make their famous 5.0 litre V8 (comes is a lexus and comes in the Toyota Land-Cruiser) to rebuild this engine to run on Hydrogen. Yamaha has succeeded is this quest and so the Hydrogen running Toyota 5.0 V8 is available now. No more electric rendering of what should be the sound of and engine, but instead the real sound of an engine! Porsche and several partners have started production of a climate neutral “e-fuel” aimed at replacing gasoline in vehicles with traditional internal combustion engines. The German automaker, owned by Volkswagen, said Tuesday that a pilot plant in Chile started commercial production of the alternative fuel. By mid-decade, Porsche is planning to produce millions of gallons of the e-fuel. So guys, there is hope for us Gear Heads!

  • @christocr

I really do not like the look of this new Charger--even the two-door. And the four door looks like something my great grandpa would have driven. EV is a definite no-go for me. Not interested in the least. And with the Challenger going away, I won't really be caring much about Dodge. Guess it's down to the Mustang GT and C8 Corvette. Or one of the various Japanese import ICE sports cars. Considering the type of driver that has been buying the Dodge Challenger over the past 15 years, I question the execs at Dodge. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I really think they are letting "politics" make them completely tone deaf/blind to their customer base. IMO they are taking a huge gamble and likely making a huge mistake. The way I see it, most car enthusiasts, at least those who have been into the Challenger/Corvette/Mustang/Camaro/etc, have absolutely zero interest in EVs AND the sorts of drivers who are interested in EVs (mostly) have zero interest in the "muscle car" look or performance. If I were making the decisions for Dodge, I certainly would NOT be making the replacement to the Challenger BIGGER and HEAVIER. If I were doing the designing, I'd actually make something that looked very close to the current Challengers, except for smaller, tighter on the suspension, sleeker, and racier. It would still be obviously a Challenger, but a Challenger that went on a diet and lost a few pounds and inches. Certainly not a Challenger that got fat, lazy, and developed some ugly curves.

The design of the exterior and interior looks great, but I do think the exterior could have been a bit more aggressive. Also, it's a big car, probably too big for a two door.
