I think they made all the right moves and design changes, including engine options. I just bought a 2022 Limited AWD Highlander because I wanted to have the 295 Hp V6. I have zero complaints other than I had to fork out and extra $1995 for adjusted market value but at least I got everything I wanted including color and interior trim. Looking forward to checking one of these out in person. Great job Joe and Lori!

Wow, awesome review Joe! Toyota hit it out of the ballpark. I love my Highlander but with a 4th grand kid on the way, I’m thinking hard about moving to this. My big concern is pricing, the Platinum Hybrid Highlander comes in around $53K, I can only imagine what a platinum version of this may be. I hope Toyota doesn’t price themselves out of the segment.

I had expected the Sequoia to have 3rd row accomodations that will match that of the Tahoe or Expedition but sadly that was not the case. The Sequoia should also have been built with an independent rear suspension setup rather than the solid axle setup which impedes on rear occupant space.

Great detailed review from the little details you have from Toyota. Was considering an Atlas or Palisade for 2024. Other considerations were CX-90 and Pilot, but liked the Altas and Palisade better overall. Now with the unveiling of the Grand Highlander this might move to the top of my list. Atlas only has 1 motor for 2024. Palisade doesn’t even have wireless CarPlay for their top trims. This new Grand Highlander has the best of all worlds it seems.

I really don’t see a market fit for the grand highlander. They have a highlander model, sequoia, 4Runner (3rd row option) and Tundra. Where does this slide in? It likely won’t justify the price upgrade from the current highlander. Otherwise, wouldn’t a family get a sequoia if they needed a lot of extra space or a 4Runner w/ 3rd row? I do think Toyota is making a mistake adding these newer turbos. Hope I’m wrong. Fuel mpg is far less in a naturally aspirated engine but, the reliability is forever.

Even though you tell us that this is an 8-way power seat, I would like to see the actual buttons. Thank-you

Chevy Traverse beats all of them in cargo space, plus it has a bullet proof more powerful v6 above 300 hp. Now the best part, your back alley mechanic can even fix it because its a Chevy. Cheap to maintain as well. You can get one below msrp.

I really want a two-row version of this vehicle. Toyota currently lacks a midsize two-row car-based SUV. You’d need to go for the Lexus RX to find a vehicle in their line up to compete with the Santa Fe, Passport, or Edge. The Venza is close but still seems smaller.
