Is The 2024 Honda Ridgeline Better With the Update

Honda's only pickup, the Ridgeline, continues to take on its more traditional midsize truck rivals with a combination of rugged capability and car-like comfort. Now deep into its second generation, the Ridgeline is the only midsize pickup with unibody construction and an independent rear suspension, which it shares with the Honda Passport SUV. Plus, every Ridgeline has a roomy four-door crew cab with all-wheel drive and a powerful V6 engine. All of the other midsize pickups, including the Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Jeep Gladiator, and Ford Ranger feature a traditional body-on-frame construction with a solid-axle rear end. As a result, they offer more off-road capability and towing capacity than the Ridgeline, but the Honda is more refined and comfortable on the road, with the ride, handling, and cabin space of a crossover. For many buyers, that's a worthwhile tradeoff, and more automakers are picking up on the trend. Though they're smaller than the Ridgeline, the recently introduced Hyundai Santa Cruz and Ford Maverick are also crossover-based pickups that trade capability for comfort. The Honda Ridgeline's updates for this year include an off-road TrailSport trim, refreshed exterior features, enhanced interior storage, and upgraded technology.

Purchased a 24 B/E Ridgeline in Feb. Downsized from a 2010 F150 with 175K miles. Test drove Frontier Pro4x and Ridgeline due to the fact they are the only Mid-size with V6 and no turbos for longevity and reliability. Ridgeline won hands down, More rear seat room and rear A/C vents, and ventilated front seats that are needed for southern heat (S. Ga N. FL) Love the smooth ride and handling with 3200k miles so far averaging 22.4 mpg around town. If you don't climb rocks or jump ditches, or pull a load above 5k lbs. this is the perfect Truck for 80% of Homeowners. Thanks for all of your reviews very helpful.

I have a '21 Ridgeline RTL and it's been a great daily driver. Smooth comfortable and reliable. And is handy when I need to load 30 bags of mulch or take a long trip with the wife and dogs.

Categorize it however a person likes, but as mentioned it is essentially a Pilot with a bed. People get all hung up on it being included with the midsized pickups, but it is really in its own category.

Though the course is light, I still like how it handles on light off-road. Not everyone goes extreme off-road. I will definitely buy it. It has what I need: off-road, smooth ride, and comfort. Perfect truck for my age. 🤭🤗

It's better, just like my 2009 was better than 2006, and my 3018 better than 2009. I was hoping for at least improvements in looks and features in pilot trailsport was on this Ridgeline and in that case very disappointed. However, it's still amazing and best midsized truck for me and family lifestyle and needs. I will wait to see next year or 2026 to trade in as I still enjoying our 2009 and 2018.

@@NtenseXchange That is easy. Check any new or used car lot for mid-size trucks from Nissan, Toyota, GM/GMC, and even Ford. Need even more load carrying/towing/off road/farm/construction site capability? Just look on those same lots for 150/1500 size pickups. I can say that mini trucks like the Maveric and Santa Cruz are not selling well in our area. I've seen exactly one of each on the roads in our rather rural/small town county. I have seen two Ridgelines both driven by middle-aged women and hauling what looked like at least half a soccer team and their equipment. The mini trucks of today are pale shadows of the work horse mini trucks of decades past. Now we are offered overpriced "versions" of crossovers that are best utilized as daily drivers (like their crossover kissing cousins) but certainly not much beyond that. When you own two pickups and live in an area where pickups AND SUVs are expected to work hard you tend to notice what other folks are driving. And The Lovely Bride and I do.
