I remember when Volvo first released the SPA platform S60 back in 2018, what a beauty till this day. Their 7yr+ XC90 still looks more modern and luxurious than most cars on the road. The amazing Scandinavian design language and a under-estimated sport performer.
I own a 2022 Recharge Extended Range and its legit fast. So deceptive and powerful. Love the looks on the bimmers, mustangs and dodge guys when I pass them. Puts them in rage mode in no time.
I own a 2023 s60 recharge plus. I love it, but it has its quirks. No interior storage, little glitches in the system. Sometimes the audio doesn't work when you start it and you have to restart the car. The power is nice, but its governed at 112mph. Overall, I enjoy it.
I’ve been eyeing the S60 for a year now & love the clean lines & design of this Volvo. So glad you finally reviewed this under appreciated brand.

Sooooo much car for the price. The price point on this car is so much more reasonable than almost every electric vehicle out right now. I know it's not a true EV, but mfrs are out of their minds with the pricing on the EV's, that the majority of people are still going to have to stay with some kind of gas engine. This car is very good option for a sporty luxury sedan.

Trust me. Other then the 0-60 they lack real performance. There so heavily invested in safety these cars are super numb to drive fast and fun…I chose a stinger over this car. Simply because these Volvos are soulless. Fast in a straight line yes but no character, no attitude, and just boring to be behind the wheel. Well built yes….very safe yes…..extreme quality yes….but the stinger is just a funner car and the tuning world getting into the stinger it’s very easy to make a monster out of them. Not to mention the price difference.

0-60 in 3.9 seconds..............Volvo has come a long way! They also did a great job integrating the infotainment into the center dash. Granted, the infotainment functionality could be better. I am surprised they put all-season tires on this car. With this much power they should have put a more performance tire. And they should have put more rubber. Nice car looks sporty with the white and black
Yessir I’m absolutely love it, I wil admit I do forget about Volvo a lot but that’s because typical I think about the semi trucks they produce vs cars but I have been liking what they put out.
Just as a comparison to the G70 and BMW 340i he mentioned. Both of those cars aren't plug in hybrids, and as such neither will get the MPG this car gets even if you decide to never plug it in, especially in the city. So for long term ownership that can save a significant amount of money, moreso if you can charge regularly for a decent rate. In terms of sale price, the G70 is a bit cheaper, but quite a lot slower. The 340i is a bit more expensive for the comparatively optioned, and while 0-60 it is around the same speed, it also still doesn't have the same highway passing potential since it still has about 100 hp less. He's spot on regarding the BMW being more sporty around the corners though if you're looking for that, though technically you could get the Polestar edition of this S60 Recharge and it might be closer or better, but so far I don't think any of those have shipped yet. But expect to pay an extra $7k over a fully optioned non-polestar variant. Honestly I think this is the best out of them comparing just the three (which is why I own one myself) but honestly I'm not sure how directly this competes if you were looking for something more electrified. I'd say this competes more with the Model 3 Performance or Polestar 2, but is the better option if you don't want to or can't go full electric yet. There really isn't a sedan plugin hybrid in this price range or below that is better, both the BMW 330e and 530e aren't even close due to their undersized electric engines and batteries.

Joe, do you know how critical I am of electric vehicles but this one is a nice combination of hybrid and gas motor and it seems like it may have the balls it needs to keep me happy. I would absolutely consider this car. It’s a little bit over my price range, but not too bad And I know because I used to work in the engine laboratories at Exxon that these Volvos are bulletproof! We used to run them on dynamometers for literally six months at a time with only stopping them while going up to change the oil and sticking them back on the dumps again doing all kinds of testing. And they never broke down never! They were very blot and milquetoast compared to this vehicle. Like I said, I would actually buy one of these in a heartbeat if I could afford it. 22:09
