Mercedes are cash furnaces. I know plenty of people who could afford them but they steer clear. One of my close friends had a C43 AMG and he swore after 7 years of ownership he'd never buy another Mercedes again. The car was in the shop at least 5x a year after 4 years of ownership.

My dad is still rocking his S550 from 2011 and it only has 71,000 miles. Still drives amazing especially with sport mode on!

As nice as the current S Class is the older ones were built like a veritable tank which makes the ride great from the weight. They lack the electronics of he new ones but less to malfunction.

@@dimmacommunication I don’t think any Bentley looks like a drug kingpin’s car, and I’ve inspected and been inside every modern Bentley. The S-Class is great for a few years, until all those crazy infotainment screens won’t even be able to handle the ever-increasing memory requirements of new OS updates. Built-in obsolescence right there. Nothing dates an interior faster than technology. Furthermore, that crazy ambient lighting is going to reflect off of all of your interior window surfaces making it more of a distraction than anything.

I wish they'd bring back the Diamond Blue paint from the 70's and 80's. It's timeless in my opinion.

Great review! I've had the Mercedes ornament on the hood for over 10 years and its never been stolen nor tampered with. That's what defines a Mercedes-Benz. Most enthusiasts prefer it rising on the hood.

You already know Joe I'm gonna love this!! The S 580 is so freaking awesome and so beautiful. Love the way it looks, love the way it's designed.

It is such a shame that Mercedes discontinued the S-Class Coupe! This color would have incredible with.

@@Rudenbehractually it’s not “just a name”. Mercedes doesn’t have any coupe comparable anymore to what the s class coupe once was.

I am driving one right now, I love it!! it is my 5th Mercedes Benz from E class to CLS and then S580. Nothing can beat this Beast.

This is quite literally my dream car! Sometimes when I’m in school I’ll spec an s580 executive and dream about one day owning one. If I were to have one i would want it exactly like this one, I love that color!

China Blue is regular light blue with a big dollop of purple mixed in. Love it.

Love my S580... Tip: Ditch the factory supplied tires for the spec on the S63--better fit, more comfortable ride, and protection for the 21s.

I remember when Cadillac had a hood ornament like so, that was hooked up to the car horn when it was pulled or yanked on. 🤓

The S Class really makes it apparent just how far off the cliff BMW jumped with their weird angular styling.

I'd rather pay 160,000 for one of these than paying 80,000 for one of the middle range. I think it worth the money, this car is fantastic.

Thanks and what a color! You are missing rear TV screens, climate control buttons under the vents, and the Tablet in rear armrest. I have all of these in my S500 (6 cylinder) Amat design here in Dubai. Why is it missing in US????

That is one beautifully spec with that light blue color and that gorgeous interior! It could be a bit louder, you dont hear that beautiful V8 enough.

Yes it is kingish for sure. The gloss black and screen no problem as I would just have my valet wipe it down every few days.

I just don't like the cockpit gauge setup....just looks slapped on with no design form. Also, the lack of physical controls for audio adjustments or temperature setting. That is a ZONK for me. Other than that it's a good looking vehicle

I’m sure this car is a pleasure to drive. The color is bold which differentiates itself from the other models. I love that Raiti stayed consistent with his review style, he truly adds value to the viewer who is particular about car design/features. Nice review Joe as always. The S class is a benchmark mark for luxury sedan in the world. In our market it is a super sedan for sure. Keep it for 4 years and under 60K before it start to cost you a paycheck and loans.

Only thing I wish is if it had a regular console and dash instead of the iPod look.

Beautiful big sedan inside and out. My only zonk is the instrument panel and center cluster. Just prefer when better integrated, but that seems to be the way many are going these days. Great review as always, Joe!

I agree with how many manufacturers need to work on designing the instrument clusters. The infotainment screens all seem to be an afterthought, as if they were attached at the end of the design, sticking up like sore thumbs instead of neatly integrated into the dash.

Agreed. The only place I think they dropped the ball was using the cluster screen from the lower-end models. It just looks cheap without a nice S Class-level surround. (Lexus really blew it here too with their miniscule LS screen.) I would have cut costs elsewhere. While the extra paint and upholstery colors are pretty cool (I think they are chasing Porsch, Jag, Bentley, etc. here), I would recommend classing the cluster screen area up on the refresh.

as far as i understand, by not integrating them into the dash they're able to reduce the overall height of the dash thus creating more space out the windshield,

@@willjam465 another reason could be that since these screens are so energy intensive they require more cooling and having them surrounded by dash material would trap heat.

I just bought a 2023 black s580 amg kit. My other Mercedes is 2021 GLE Amg 63s, awesome powerful car!

In love with the color i need it one day for sure. Thats the CJelite S class

As a Mercedes Benz type of gal (currently driving the E350 convertible jet black, wood grain etc etc. Ya'll know the spill) I must say the S580 is such a beauty in my opinion. My heart skip a beat every time I look at it. For the true Benz lovers, ya'll know that Mercedes high type feeling, and that little voice that whisper in your ear "this is your car" ... or maybe that's just me😂 Any who, Love the car and Great video👍🏽🙏🏽❤❤❤❤❤

Another great review. This 'all touch screen controls' trend I'm not digging. Still like a few knobs for temp/fan/volume. Also question how well those low profile wheels survive the wintery north urban pot hole and sunken sewer grate world...? friend has replaced several such low prof tire/rims in recent years.

Hate the rubber band tires. What's the point if you have a car designed to give you a smooth ride then you put tires on it that guarantee a bumpy ride makes no sense.

I love this color/wheel combo. Mercedes has got to stop with the nickel and diming… a S580 over $150k with NO Heads-up display nor a 4-Zone rear climate control?!? C’mon!!!

I think Mercedes is always the best in Europe

5 year old kid would enjoy being chauffeured around in one of these to his important play dates. I must say I prefer the POV style with the camera above your head for on throttle, you get to experience the drive better.

It seems like this generation of S class is going to be geared more towards the younger generation with all the digital screens and no buttons. I love it as a millennial. The only reason i chose the c class over the s class of last generation was because it looked like an old persons car inside. This one looks so modern and exciting. Thats just my opinion as a millennial getting into the brand coming from a bmw

Those slap-on, aftermarket interior screens are an absolute deal-breaker for me. It’s otherwise a pretty good car.

I'm puzzled too why they don't want to build-in those screen tv's into the dashboard nicely . All they are doing is copying Tesla's big screen tv just screwed on and sticking out of the dashboards . And wow , lol those ambient lights , are those for the kindergarten kids ? I guess the EMF's in those new cars and especially electric cars must be super high . But no one wants to talk about it .

@@ryanray6215 I totally agree! That ambient lighting is way overdone! In my Audi there is a lip over the ambient lighting which blocks being able to view it directly, it shines downwards on intended areas. With that ambient lighting, illuminating in every direction, you’re going to get distracting reflections off of windows, particularly if you tint the windows as window film reflects everything. To me, there is absolutely nothing that dates an interior faster than high tech. In five years, those same screens won’t even be able to accommodate the ever-increasing memory requirements of the various requisite Operating System updates that will happen between now and then. That’s built-in obsolescence right there. Quite aside from that, I am absolutely amazed the NTSB hasn’t yet stepped in and began regulating infotainment systems as these days, infotainment screens are more distracting than navigating cell phone screens while driving. Granted, I’ve only seen a few of this guy’s videos, but I also criticize this reviewer for one thing - how come he never anything bad to say about this car or anything else?!? Come on! You can always find several things about ANY car that you don’t like, that society at large won’t like, and is something that the car makers need to take care of for their next model evolution. Giving constructive criticism on any product is exactly what manufacturers need to hear in order to make better products. No more “rosy reviews”, tell it exactly how it is!

The wheels Joe are awesome, ya agree the shinny chrome is stupid, why do you have to use the fob to open the doors? touch would have been expected at this price. Everything should be dark chrome in my view with that colour of blue. As a VW owner I hate the gloss black and I have no one that likes it, so why do all the Auto makers keep putting it in? it's beyond me.
