@@tk6729 No issues with range thus far. I installed a GrizzlE level 2 charger in my garage. Charge every other day. 99% of our driving is around town, so we don’t have much range anxiety. We did a few 200+ mile trips and we were lucky both times to find nice Electrify America fast chargers. 20 mins on the plug and it added plenty of range to get home. The car drives so well. Exceptionally stable in extreme wet driving. Had it out on the highway during heavy down pours and the car drove like it was on rails.

@@mattmekhaeil not really, the Tesla Model Y has arguably a nicer interior than this, it has soft touch dash and door tops. And the vegan leather is also very nice, espacially in white.

great review! I've had mine for about a month now and it handled Vermont winter/snow storms without any issues. Even on the all seasons! Such a smooth ride and you feel planted to the road and safe on the highway.

@Jasmine Johnson like all EVs it's not the best in the cold, around 130-140, but it's been steadily going up this week as the weather has been getting warmer. I have a 50 mile roundtrip commute and a level 2 charger at home which helps with any range anxiety.

@@juicyj1188 still love it. No issues and fun to drive. Taking it on a longer road trip at the end of the month so I'll be experiencing charging on the road for the first time. Mileage is around 230 with a full charge running up and down the highway. Really great first EV experience.

Really nice fit and finish. Wheels look similar to the 20” wheels on my 2021 VW ID.4. Great video.

Great review Joe and Lori! We are test driving one tonight, can't wait! I would be interested to hear what kind of real world range folks are getting.

When Volvo puts out an EV that looks like a Swedish fish, I'll buy it :-). I currently drive an XC40 T5 Polestar and I love it. When they get the range issue fixed, I'll go electric; I do the NY to DC trip a lot and 220 miles isn't enough range.

Yes! I have a 2020 XC40 and love it! YES! Next car will be the EV XC40! Great review!

XC40 is the way to go, my Ionic 5 Preferred AWD ultimate trim in Canada was to have been here in May now they say end of October so I am visiting my Volvo dealer right now, thanks for the great review, it instils confidence in going the Volvo route for an EV purchase!

Great review as always by Joe and Lori! Got one of these last year after cross shopping with Mach-E and Model Y. It's in a class by itself... smaller, sturdier, stylish, and quite powerful (versus long range trims). Infotainment could be more sophisticated, but we are very happy with it and it keeps getter better with OTA updates!

I don't think the EV acceleration will ever get old, at least not in my Model Y Performance. :D We actually ordered the Volvo C40 for my wife, so I guess the answer for us on which one we'd choose between Volvo and Tesla is "both!" Hopefully the C40 will be a good car for my wife. Please do review the C40 when you get a chance!

@@RaitisRides I´m sure it will. By the way we ordered a slightly different "drivestick". It is made by Orrefors here in Sweden and handmade in crystal. Just something a little bit extra. 😄 Orrefors the glassfactory has a made a deal with Volvo Cars.

I'm not sure if you've done this yet, but I'd love to see a Range video where you review EV's that have a long range that are worth considering.

I just ordered the single motor P6 version of this car. The P8 is really quick but the range is really bad if you put your foot down as in 120 miles bad. The P6 is much more efficient and you still get 0-60 in 7 seconds which isn't exactly slow!

All that carpet in the footwells is giving me 2000s Chevy Tahoe vibes

Short answer, yes. Long answer, yeeeeeessssss. Everything from the cab design to the exterior to the smooth acceleration to the ease of navigating to the interior features to the freaking built-in garbage can makes the XC40 Recharge superior to its Tesla counterpart. The only things they need to improve are the available frunk space (at least enable a couple grocery bags to fit) and the single charge battery mileage (over 300, please) to get my signature on a purchase.

With heightening gas prices, more buyers are now considering EVs, so range makes a lot of sense for long trips

I didn’t see any holes in the brake discs.

Tesla model Y no longer qualifies for 7.5k tax credit. This is the biggest bang for the buck. Once I get a house with a garage, I'm digging this XC40 recharge. Maybe do the subscription that volvo has and then outright buy it I'm in love with it.

I like it, but not at $60k.

JJ ~ say what? small EV SUV? is this the future? meet George Jetson. 2 motors ? ! ? ! that typically means = faster. exterior - I dig it too. it has nice lines. every Tesla I've ever seen in person looked cheaply built & plasticy. pano sunroof = yes. 402hp > writing the check now, lol. interior - gorgeous. I like it - well done : )

@@LS1007 we do have them in South Africa but we still got no charging stations. You can only recharge it at your house. For sure you can drive for a very long distance before reaching it.

Volvo got style, but they did keep their classic front style. Very sleek and compact. Looks good for a long drive and the price is appropriate for Volvo. Just wondering if they are built as tough as the old-style Volvos. Not buying a Tesla everyone in NYC seems to have one I always wanted a Volvo for city driving.

Great review, and I agree, I owned Tesla before, my brother is a Tesla guy through and through, but I’m not convinced at all with the quality, and I’m frankly appalled at their low level of customer service. Tesla won’t even buy back their own cars (here in BC Canada, and they have only one dealership in the province and no coverage for their emergency road services past the Lower Mainland) , all that should tell you something… This Volt is definitely a contender for the Tesla Y, looking at AWD (dual motor), interior space, great range, torque, a more familiar interface and also it seems to handle the torque well (I remember the 2021 Chevy Bolt was swerving all over the place if you would put the pedal to the metal, even though the 2022 is much better, it’s still a bit shaky). Yes I know, the Bolt is not a luxury vehicle, just making a comparison….and, this Volvo might seriously outdo the German Luxury EV’s …I think your review showed everything really well!

nice suv, but too expensive for the milage you get, 220 when full in winter means you'll get maybe 180 , needs min. of 270 miles at full charge.

For the price Raiti, I don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze on this one...exterior not bad but that infotainment screen is relatively small and looks a little outdated because of how the bezel appears.. for that price I would go with mid-level Mercedes or something
