As someone who drives through chain control checkpoints on a regular basis, I LOVE the AWD badge on the driver’s side. They can’t ever see the one on the back.

Hey Joe, that was great !. I remember there was a RAV 4 back in the day in Australia that was all electric I think it may have had a range of 70-90kms or so (43 to 55 miles or so). It's good to see they are heading back to the electric side of things :)

15:46 - The Rav4 Prime's 18.1 kWh battery is actually located underneath the floor and not under the rear bench seat as is the case in the non plug-in Rav4 hybrid.

This car is a no brainer, it’s got so much going for it. I love this car and the tech, It checks every box...nice video!

Joe, with Prime's limited availability, you should discuss the reality of dealer pricing. Our dealership was selling them at $10,000 over MSRP. At that price, one may as well wait for the Lexus NX plug-in hybrid.

The problem with Lexus is if you are going for that you can dish a bit more and get the Germans, Lexus NX is not here or there, it’s really missing a lot to be interesting and the looks are just of putting for a lot of people

Yep, I love the look of German cars ... even owned one once. However, I typically hold onto my cars 10-15 years, and the problem with German cars is the long term cost of ownership/repairs, which I factor into my considerations at the time of purchase. That said, I may be tempted to purchase an all electric German car in the future.

Well here in Europe they don’t really have that high cost of ownership for a15 year period plus a lot of people hold them for more then 20 years. On that note my dad has a Toyota avensis and it’s 12 year old, the maintenance cos is insane , in the last for years on top of the normal maintenance cost he was paying 3-4K euros extra. I am just happy he is giving up on the car and decided to let me buy him a new one!

Toyota has upgraded these RV 4's. The early 90's versions were weird to look at and I'm pleasantly impressed, well more than pleasantly impressed with this new RAV 4. I now will put it on my list with the Kia Sorento and Kia Seltos. MPG is crazy.

Joe, thank you for education us before we take these cars out for a test spin. I am stuck trying to decide Subzru Outback or Toyota RAV Hybrid and it's making me a bit crazy because they are both so great. Anyway, I wish I had a HS Teacher as funny as you when I was in HS...be well my friend.

Great video!! Love that Rav4 Prime! 49k is a bit steep though. I have a '20 Rav4 Hybrid XSE. Now I'm sure you know this, all that beautiful, metallic black paint on the XSE models, is black plastic on the other models, including the Limited. I prefer the painted trim, as it offers a nice contrast with the Magnetic Gray paint that is on my XSE. Unfortunately, imo Toyota's are somewhat over priced. For example my Rav4 has that cool rear view mirror but no memory drivers seat and no power passenger seat. Just a few axes to grind. Anyway, stay safe and keep the great content coming.

The transmission isn’t really a CVT even though it behaves like one.

Just a friendly tip: Hello Everyone watching this video. When filling up your gas, after the pump turns off, DO NOT TOP OFF YOUR TANKS! There is a vapor line that will fill up with the over flow of gas and cause big problems! 1 the tank will no longer fill up 2 your gauge will not be correctly reading gas levels. 3 It will cost you money to get lines cleared and you might ruin your vapor reservoir tank…””Expensive to replace.” I speak from experience. Oh and it’s not covered, as it not a defective issue… other then that, I LOVE MY RAV4 2021 XSE Prime!

9:05 The Prime CVT is not a traditional CVT, it's basically a differential that Toyota is calling "e-CVT", it's much smoother than any CVT or any other automatic transmission you ever tried. It's the same kind used in the Prius engines, and in fact in all Toyota hybrid engines (Corolla or Camry for example).

EXCELLENT video and presentation! I am going back and forth between the Prime XSE package and the Limited Hybrid package ($8,000.00 cheaper w/o plug-in). I still want as many "bells and whistles" as possible though. Do you have a similar video on the Limited Hybrid. I also want the Silver-Sky Metallic with Lt-Gray 2 tone SofTex interior.

I love this! I'm stuck on getting the Mazda CX-5 carbon edition but if I decide to go Toyota I'll definitely look into this maybe.

Having a 21 Camry XSE Hybrid I must be in the minority that doesn't hate the cvt. I love everything about the car. No complaints after 6 months and 7500 miles

There is no comparision between Prime XSE and 2019 rav 4, unless you know nothing about cars. I currently have 2016 BMW X5 and Mercedes ML 350, this Prime Rav 4 is better than either of them.

I bought Camry SE night shade 2021 it’s awesome

My favorites Evs in the market right now is the rav4 prime, mustang Mach e, the vw id4. I’m glad that Toyota bought us a fast ev than the previous rav4 xse hybrid. I like the prime exterior design and those red contrast stitching seats and it’s new technology like the new rear view mirror that is now in a clean version and more features. Also it’s new wheels look so beautiful. It’s way better than the Tesla model Y because the Tesla looks corny because it’s interior is only just one big screen and that’s it. The prime is as fast as the Mach e from 0-60. I’m also glad that Toyota kept the gas engine and not go to fully electric like the id4 and Mach E that decided to go fully electric. So if someone wants an fast electric car but at the same time powered by a fuel engine not going for a full ev like a Tesla that is fully ev or like a Prius that is slow, the rav4 prime is definitely the best option. So if I had $50k in my pocket, instead of going for the rav4 trd off road, I’lol go for the rav4 prime because it’s worth it. The trd off road isn’t $40k worth it. And if I want an off road rav4, I’ll go for the rav4 adventure. Simple as that

Yes!! Yes it’s worth the price. The resale on these trucks will be record breaking. In between ownership you will spend little to no maintenance cost and fuel cost will be a non issue. So yes it’s worth the price. Oh AND ITS THE FASTEST RAV4 ever made! but supply is very very very........ low. :)

I'd rather have incandescent turn signals and get LED headlights standard on all trims. CR-V makes you pay top dollar for the Touring trim just to get them, halogens on all other trims 🤮

I wish there would be reviews of these vehicles at night. To show the dash, self dimming mirror and range of the headlights. I've bought a few vehicles where the headlights barely lit the lane never mind the ditches on either side.

I feel like more suv should be two tone but make sure the colors work together though

Maybe the darker colors like the blue could have a white roof. Better in hot climates anyway.

They are limiting supply, so more will not be available until next year. It also keeps the price high that classic supply vs. demand equation. Great vehicle with limited supply.

How about the different drivetrain settings? Sport, hybrid, electric. Do the wheels in back slip in all modes?
