Great video mate, I like your open minded approach and objectivity in all the videos. I know your riding techniques well, as they were banged in to me for 30 years riding tiny Hondas for mail delivery here in Australia. That training was instigated by an ex police instructor as well. Yep, the techniques do translate to my own Honda Valkyrie Interstate and all my previous bikes, as you know. SPECIAL REQUEST...Many reviewers concentrate on how they go, and not how they stop. If you can hold on to the Street Bob for a while, would you consider a braking comparison between these two. ABS will take all the fun out of it, but should be easy to organise with traffic cones, and even one rider on both bikes. The stopping distances could remain a constant for comparison with other bikes that you may access in future. At least in testing emergency stops, you get to pick your own road conditions. I enjoy your channel immensely, and every little bit helps to keep ones mind on the task when we're out there doing it...

I'm starting to look at Harleys and the 114 street bob is definitely my favourite model, especially in balck or orange. I'm more about supermotos and naked bikes, but I really love the charisma of an Harley, the relaxed ride, the torque, the muscular sound. Probably one will be mine once I put togheter some money!

Perfect Video. I waffled between 2021 Street Bob, 2021 Triumph Bobber Black, & 2021 Triumph Speedmaster. In the end - I recently purchased the 2021 Street Bob. But I have to admit, the Triumph Bobber Black in my own opinion - looks the coolest! But I am 50 years old, and looking cool is no longer as important than comfort. At my age - better to feel good, than look good! Thanks for the video!

Having been on both bikes I'll say this, the Triumph's brakes a vastly superior. You have to stand on the rear brake of the Harley to get it to stop. Plus I never felt like I was going to fall off of the triumph. The Harley.... I felt like I was holding on to the handle bars to stay on.Obviously the power difference is the reason there, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the Triumph.

I usually agree with Jerry but unbiased the motorcycle's speed test is not done by feel and fun. 1/4 mile time, top speed run, and most important lap times are the parameter. What the rider does with the bike's abilities and gear selection for the situation can vary widely from person to person. Roll-ons work for lazy shifters in sluggish car traffic but matching gearing with max torque will get you there quicker. (Automatic transmissions figure it out for the unknowing).

My only issue with both of these Bobbers is the small capacity fuel tanks (3.5 for the street bob and 3.2 for the bobber black) . Really limits the range if you want to do some medium distance touring. Also not really a fan of the lower seat heights. Also this is not an apples to apples comparison. The HD clearly outclasses the Triumph in motor size. So it's no surprise it's faster.

Has bit more tq low down and the rolls were to the range Harley has the advantage, plus it's tuned w/ exhaust. Which is rather unimpressive for a bike with almost 700cc more and performance mods. The Triumph isn't a down low powered bike and doing a slow roll for 3 seconds doesn't really show how the Harley will die off and the Triumph will wake up. apples to oranges in comparison imo.

Roll on acceleration and torque figures might be valid but, having experienced both, the gear change on the Harley is ponderous and agricultural compared the fast slick gear changes you get on the Triumph, more making up for any deficiencies in engine capacity and torque.

The engineer in me cringes anytime someone says 'torque is what you feel'. Horsepower is a measurement of how much work something can do. Torque is a measurement of force. HP = torque * rpm / 5252. Electric motors can put out massive torque at 0 rpm, producing exactly 0 HP. You ain't feeling nothing at zero rpm, not matter how much torque is there. Big torque engines just make their HP low on the rpm dial (usually because they can't rev past 5k rpms or so). So you are feeling the horsepower, just down low in the rpm band. In other words, big torque, low rev limit engines have a different hp curve than high-revving modest torque engines, but in either case you are feeling hp. Besides, high revving engines typically have gear ratio advantages so the torque at the rubber is likely pretty similar to the big displacement engines. In other words, if an 800 cc 4 cyl is putting out 1/2 the torque of a 1600 cc twin cyl engine, but geared to run at twice the rpm for a given speed they are putting out the same torque to the ground (assuming all else equal).

I wonder, do you have any estimation of how many miles you logged on duty, I'd imagine you may have over a million miles on a Harley. No matter, riding is a thing and it doesn't matter the bike, it matters the riding. That said, I find Harley Davidson to be a good looking, good sounding, and very comfortable ride, and well AMERICA! Still I appreciate other bikes and the "riding community" it's good fun as long as you do it safe and practice practice practice.

I have owned the standard Triumph Bobber. Now own a Harley Fat Bob 2018. Im not sure about the street bob single disk brake but the Fat Bob brakes ten times better than the standard Triumph Bobber. The duel Disk on the Bobber Black likely adds some much needed stopping power. I couldn't get past the hard ride on the triumph. I'm an average sized guy and the mono shock bottomed out everytime i went over a bump on the Bobber - it was painful on the spine. The Fat Bob's monoshock appears to be a significant upgrade of the Triumph.

I thought the most interesting part of your vid was where you talked about how much more supple the ride on the HD is versus the Triumph. I spent a good part of yesterday out riding around w/ a bunch of old boys. We probably never did over 70 mph, but the RK left me no worse for wear after hours & hours of riding all kinds of beat up country roads.
