Mike Bigley I had a 2018 ecoboost and traded for a 2019 GT Premium its Definitely worth the cost. There is no comparison in power, and the growl the GT makes is awesome. If you don’t care about performance or the car sounding bad ass, then the ecoboost is fine for someone

I tried the ecoboost and had the same experience as in this review - BUT! The problem isn’t the ecoboost engine but the 10 speed box. I tried the GT 10 speed and it had (allmost) the same problem. Nervous shifting-pattern. 10 gears is simply too many!! Personally i have the manual GT so im good ✌️😎

He talked more about the 5.0 then he did the eco boost...

He is exaggerating the shifts with his head😂😂 i had an ecoboost, but upgraded to a gt and the shifts in the ecoboost are not even that bad😂

I own a 2018 Ecoboost automatic and I will say that there is a bit of a learning curve on how to accelerate to make it not search for gears so much, but the gears can really come alive when you do. Another thing to consider is that care tuners that you can buy, like the Cobb tuner, can take away the car's indecisiveness in finding gears, and adds peak HP of 17% and as much as 100 HP added in the higher RPMs. This is without changing ANYTHING under the hood.

Not really. I had the same issues as him. Former GT manual owner her. I thought the car was broken at first. I had two rental ecoboosts (both with less than 3000 miles) and had the same issues.

When people compare a 4 cylinder to a 8 cylinder it’s like really two different things my dude but I gues the ecoboost is doing something right if it has to be compared to the 5.0 complete different cars my guy What’s next “is the Honda Civic as fun as the new corvette mid engine?”

As someone who owns a 16 ecoboost, I added ford performance parts and it's currently making 335 hp and 390lbs of torque! This car is amazing! A v8? No, of course not. If it was trying to be a v8, then ford wouldnt make the v8. This is a great money saving alternative with plenty of daily power. MAP makes a turbo kit that will bring this car up to 500+hp. This car is 9/10 for me. Loses 1 point cause of the sound, lol.

I love my 19' ecoboost, granted its the hardtop with a manual.. And I came from driving a Corolla. So to each their own I guess

Honestly, the ecoboost is an excellent car for the price. Insurance cost, gas, and price points are all turn always from the GT and the eco is an excellent option with those in mind. PLUS it’s still fast as hell and fun with great looks 😂. A few mods can create an “EcoBeast” for cheap

Frank J Nakoff the best mod to get some extra horse power for cheap with easy installation is definitely a cold air intake bro. If you have the extra money to blow though, you can’t go wrong with a new turbo set up. A new tune is essential to both though and either way, it makes the car perform like an absolute monster. I love my EB

Frank J Nakoff downpipe, cai, intercooler, Dyno tune will get you over 300+ wheel horsepower and 400 ft pounds of torque. A good Dyno tune will make your car fast and the transmission will be smooth. Throttle response will be immediate. The owner of a speed performance shop told me a Dyno tune on an ecoboost will add up to 50 wheel horsepower and the intercooler will allow the engine to make more horsepower.

Old video, I know. However, I've seem to become an advocate for the EcoBoost Mustang lately, and watching this video, I feel like I have to make a comment on this... it's ridiculous. The car is a 4 cylinder 2.3L turbocharged engine. Economy with the sexy looks, not the 5.0 to make the young men moan. I don't know why people get into this car, KNOWING IT'S A 4 CYLINDER, and expecting it to sound like a 5.0 with a $2000 Corsa exhaust... you're setting yourself up for unmeasurable disappointment. Look, it doesn't sound the best, BUT IT'S A TURBO 2.3L. Once again, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?! I think if it had different tail lights and a removal of all pony badges, everyone would wet their pants on one of the best JDM-like sports cars under $20,000 on the market today. 310HP, 350lbs of torque, beautiful sports coupe body style, RWD, great handling, comfortable interior, 23 MPG city driving, 31 MPG highway, cheaper insurance then most newer economy sedans... should I go on? $42,000+ MSRP (USD) for this package? Alright, go base model (which is arguable better than the performance package) for $18K-$25K (depending on mileage). I can't think of a better deal for a mixture perfect mixture of economy and sport then the EcoBoost Mustang. Now, in regards to the 10-Speed Auto Transmission... my goodness I hate that thing. I don't know if Throttle House made a newer video with the manual transmission on this thing, but I think his whole experience was robbed by the 10-Speed. For some reason they suck in the EcoBoost as opposed to the 5.0. And I know the V8 only guys live by that 10-Speed. I get it. They like speed, they live for 60 rolls, every green light at the intersection is a 1/4 mile race, and 'MT-82 bad.' Okay, understandable. For me, personally, I will never own an automatic sports car. I don't care to be the fastest, I personally hate the way automatics sound when they shift, and paddle shifters will never give me the same amount of joy as kicking my foot to the floor and slamming into 4th. I can go on about my whole experience with automatics and manuals, but we'd be here all night and I'd probably bore you to death. In short, I prefer manual, and I think this review may have gone a lot differently with the 6-Speed Manual. Too many people knock this car, because they refuse to let their brains accept a Mustang that doesn't have that grunt and punch of a V8 and sounds the way that the EcoBoost does. If you're not mentally challenged in that aspect, and you can accept the car for what it is, that being an amazing sports car alternative, than the EcoBoost is a fantastic option. If you can't live without the V8, if you HAVE to have that sound and over 450HP, and you CAN afford it, just get the GT. Hell, I PREFER THE GT. If I could afford it, all day I would get a 15-17 GT over the EcoBoost. My point is, stop trashing on the EcoBoost and stop making people feel bad because it's 'not a real Mustang' and move on with your life. This is a great car and a great option for a person that wants a sports economy car.

After careful consideration, I am definitely going to buy this car and heres why. Now being 19 of course I want a fast car, but in my scenario im trying to be realistic. Im a manager, and im in school and I drive a lot. I dont want to spend to much on gas and this mileage for being a sport car is good enough to make me happy. I want something flashy but doesnt break the bank and for around 23k this is an awesome sweetspot. Being an automatic I honestly dont mind it, I drive a lot and being in that scenario, I am in traffic a lot so a manual isnt in my interests as I do get out of work at around 2-3am when I am tired. This car to me is perfect, It looks agressive, its practical, it doesnt break the bank and Its an automatic. I understand in the car community I am going to get disgraced but this car meets all my needs while being a little flashy.

So, I love your reviews and channel, but this felt a little like a complain fest on the ecoboost mustang. I test drove the EB hardtop and the V8 hardtop recently and they are two completely different cars in the way they drive. The EB was plenty of fun going around town and on the highway and I felt like I was going plenty fast. Did not notice transmission issues other than when I tried to do the manual shifting like a novice. The V8 was loud, fun, and made it feel like my cock grew 3 sizes right there on the seat every time I accelerated and whipped the back end around tight turns. Either way, I really don't believe that either of these are a bad choice

Hm. I suppose after being in a lot of modern automatic cars recently this one felt very jerky to me compared to those. I also really wasn’t sold on the power delivery in gear. I’m not a die hard V8 fan. But I would choose it any day of the week over this.

I know it's inevitable but to compare the EcoBoost to the 5.0 makes as much sense as comparing a Focus ST to the 5.0. I am a guy that can afford the V8 but purposely chose the EcoBoost as my daily commuter because it looks great, saves gas and has plenty of power. The car actually "learns" your driving habits and the throttle issues smooth out more and the mileage gets better after about 200 to 400 miles of driving. I have no trouble at all getting 32 miles to the gallon with mixed driving. Car insurance is much cheaper compared to the V8 and I payed 24,000 dollars for my brand new 2018 EcoBoost to boot. Although the herky jerky behavior of the transmission is there, it's not as dramatic as this guy's tester was. I think Ford was going for a fun driving feel here and I personally like it. It should definitely not be a deal breaker for anyone. EVERY car or truck has something that could be better right? Also, for those that are interested, the EcoBoost is easily tuned to whatever driving experience you like. I am perfectly okay with my stock Mustang but I have a friend who has his 2016 tuned to 440hp and gets 33mpg on regular pumped gas. My only real complaint about the EcoBoost is the exhaust sound. Not that I expect it to sound like a 5.0 or anything but Ford could have spent a little time making it sound a little more sporty. No big deal though. Oh, and for those of us that don't have iPhones, Ford's infotainment system also features Android auto and works great. It's seems that no one ever points that out.

@@Alex-us8cs Which makes getting the exhaust replaced a massive pain in the dick. Kinda hard to go 3" Turbo-back when the stock mufflers are 2.25 diameter inlets. Aftermarket axle-back exhausts from MBRP and Magnaflow are easily over $800 just because its "active".

I owned a 2016 automatic eco boost mustang. I added easy mods that got me over 325 hp to the wheels with over 400 pd ft of torque. It was pretty quick. Easy to handle on mountain curvy roads. And great in traffic. I now own a 6 speed manual 2018 mustang GT. I love it but have to admit the eco boost is a more enjoyable daily driver.

Blake Nelson the ecoboost is lighter, more low en torque which means its fast enough for most daily driving situations. Get a GT if you must have the v8 growl or/ and you plan on taking it to the drag strip to safely enjoy all that top end power.. otherwise, its just there to say my car makes 460 hp... Which leads to being responsible with that power... when guys and gals buy the v8 without knowing how to drive one/ handle one = crashing into crowds...

señor pepper No. I add Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer to my oil. 2 quarts and 8 quarts of synthetic blend. Engine is smooth and quiet.

I almost bought a used EcoBoost a few years ago. Now I’m close to buying a new GT. I think they’re both great cars. Even 310 hp is plenty for me. But I’ve just decided that I’d rather have a GT, and to hell with the fuel economy.

Okay, here’s the deal. I currently own a 2019 EcoBoost Premium, and I love it. Yes, it is not a Coyote, yes it can be jerky with the shifts at times, and yes, it might be the woman’s option for a “muscle” car, but let me tell you this, the car is one of the most diverse cars I have been in. One minute it can be driving like a normal car, and the next, you put it in “drag” mode, and let it do its job. It is an absolutely amazing car, and shame on you for saying otherwise. P.S. my EcoBoost Premium was $36k USD, and for the exact same car, but with the coyote, it would be $44k. ($8k price difference for the V8).

@@Disasterpiece5150 Haha. Yes sir. Especially seeing as I was a salesman there! Lol. It was $36k OTD. the sticker of the car was $37k (before TT&L obviously). They hooked me up by giving me a $5k discount, and then after all the coverage and service packages, it was $36k. I think that isn't bad for a $37k car. Afterwards, I inputted my vin into our service system (which shows you the front-end and back-end profit), and they made -$200 on the front-end, and then made $1500 on the back-end (for all the coverage, and a 175k bumper-to-bumper warranty). Overall, man, I couldn't be happier.

The turbo 4 cylinder runs better with super unleaded. My engine feels more responsive with 93 octane. If you're moving your foot up and down on the gas pedal unnaturally, the transmission will hunt for the gear you want because it can't figure out what you want. The audio indicator the roof is unlocked or locked is the car audio briefly muting. See the second note: goo.gl/6T7T8i Your fuel efficiency is ridiculously low and not normal. I get 25.5/25.6 MPG average. EcoBoost is eco-nomical when cruising. Boost when I need it. I agree on the little windows not going up. A minor annoyance probably due to safety reasons. A perk of the convertible is a 6 foot person can sit in the back with roof up without bending your neck to the side, which is mandatory in the hard top. So it's a little more versatile. This review sounds like someone who has already chosen a V8 manual and looking to sway people in that direction.

Did you test the car with 93 in the tank or 87? Running 87 drops power by 35 hp, to 275, to keep it safe. Something to consider.

You're the first I hear to complain about the 10 speed paired with the ecoboost. Everyone else says it's a perfect match. Too many complaints I can't take this video serious.

Some people overthink cars. For a car enthusiast that cares, a tune will fix those awkward shifting issues. Most EcoBoost Mustang purchasers could give two craps about how it shifts. My wife is the latter. She just drives it and loves it. I feel there are some embellishments and exaggerations in your review, regarding the negatives. But that could just be me.

It was the exact same experience with owning a Marauder. terrible tune from the factory. with a tune it wakes the car up.

I owned a 2016 GT manual for three years and loved it. I’ve had two 10-speed auto ecoboosts as rentals for work recently for a week at a time. I found the transmission to be horrible. In drive and “normal” mode it was fun. But sport mode or with the transmission in “S” it snapped and shifted SO hard I thought something was broken at first. I had the same jerky experience he had. I’ll have to try an ecoboost manual sometime.

I've got a 18 ecoboost mustang, i rather had a v8 but in Belgium we pay on co2 emmisions. To get a v8 mustang on the road the first time it around 10k and the taxes every year is 4k. So the ecoboost is a good alternative for me...

I get that kind of push-back in my 19 EBM. Only when its in Drag mode and I'm using the paddles.

I have had my '18 Ecoboost Mustang for 4 months now. Base model and it was $21,500. And it has the six speed manual. It's a complete hoot to drive and I get about 28-29 mpg for town and city driving. It's just a lot of fun and a lot of car for the money. Front end felt a little light at times, but now that I am more comfortable with it that's not a problem any more. It's limited to 120 mph and I wish it wasn't, but it's probably a good thing ticket wise:) Most of my miles are around town and I can't see the need for a V-8 for that. I am very very happy with my new Mustang. It rolls down the highway at 90-100 mph like it's just loafing. Fun fun fun.

@@MrAchref007 Correct, the 2.3 liter 2018 Mustang sold in the US is limited to 120, mind you that is only for the base model, the upgraded trim packages go to 130 and the top of the range with all the goodies has even less of a limiting chip in them. It's been two years now that I have had it, just got back from a nice 60 mile drive up into the mountains and on the highway for some speed work, I still love it.

I'm assuming since you are referring to distance and fuel consumption in liters that you are from Canada where you use metrics. I'm not proficient in metrics to standard conversion, but I'd be curious as to how many miles were on the car and what type of fuel you were using. Reason being, I own a 18 ecoboost mustang and when I first fueled it up it registered 290 miles til empty. I was a little surprised having my 15 eco register 354 miles til empty and both were using premium fuel which makes a difference. I recently hit 1k miles on my 18 (I've only had it for a month and a half) and my fuel economy numbers have increased quite a bit. On my recent trip from So Cal to Vegas I got 28mpg and when I filled it up it registered 407 miles, but that number isn't set in stone and is determined on how you drive. I can tell you in the 2k miles that I've put on it I'm averaging 25 mpg using premium fuel and some of that is stop and go traffic.

Great video, and interesting thoughts. I factory ordered a 2018 ecoboost convertible and the one thing reviewers never seem to get is the price difference (it makes sense because they don't pay for the cars they review). I choose ecoboost because with the options I wanted a v8 would have been about 50k usd and that was just too much for me at that time. Unfortunately saving for a few extra months would not have made up the 8k price difference and I wanted the car for virtues other than it's engine: it's style/heritage, convertible availability, the beautiful interior, and the high end options. I'm not hating on the reviewer, not his fault they are always given auto transmission testers, whereas they are sometimes given v8's with manuals. It's sad because the manual transmission on mine is amazing...silky smooth, let's you learn and work with the ecoboost power band (which ford performance will be tuning soon), perfect clutch feel, decent 3.31 gear ratio (auto is 3.15), hill assist, acc compatable, cool looking and and is just very straightforward to use. Saves $1600 too!

One of the only critics I have seen who doesn't like the mustang ecoboost. With a tune for the engine and transmission from SCT or Livernois Motorsports, the car becomes a different animal. The transmission is adaptive and needs to learn the driver over the course of 500 miles after being reset.

I dabbled on the 5.0 in the past. I love my Ecoboost. I get better gas mileage and it's so fun to drive. Does it have the 5.0 growl? Absolutely not. But I honestly love this car for what it is. Plus if you mod it correctly, you can be just as fast as a stock GT. They're really not as bad as people make them sound.

I drive a 2020 Ecoboost Premium Convertible with the 10 speed. I understand much of the criticisms expressed here when taken at face value but other conditions come into play. When using this car as your daily driver, the ecoboost is far easier and more fun to drive for me. I find the 5.0 to be heavier and not as balanced or as nimble to use as your daily driver. The ecoboost mileage is not good when zooming around town and road testing the car but put it on the interstate and you can get far better mileage. It gets perfectly good mileage on road trips. The bottom line is which car delivers what you expect and enjoy.

That1Guy Most of the time, no. And especially not with the EcoBoost. I've driven both the automatic and manual versions and the manual is absolutely faster.

That1Guy Okay, but that's the problem. These tests aren't always accurate. My first car was a 2004 Honda Civic EX 5-speed. According to the data, the automatic was faster than the manual and had a 0-60 time of around 10 seconds, the manual was just over 11 seconds. However, I could take my Civic from 0-60 in six seconds flat, completely stock. It's because I know how to launch that car perfectly, and when to shift to get the most power. That, and there are some minor differences in every car, so the 0-60 times posted and advertised are not always true. Same can be said for the EcoBoost Mustang. I had one for a short time, and when I raced stock automatics, I'd win almost every time. www.motortrend.com/cars/ford/mustang/2015/2015-ford-mustang-ecoboost-23-manual-first-test/ Here's a link that shows just how similar the times are between both the automatic and the manual. The only reason the automatic has a .3 second edge is because of the paddle shifters. Don't use those, and watch that automatic Mustang try desperately to figure out what gear it wants to be in as it loses the race. By the way, that's just on the drag strip. Try racing on a track or backroads with losts of twists and turns, and you'll quickly realize how much better manuals are simply due to the amount of control you have. You can shift a true manual much faster between gears than a car with paddle shifters when you need to make quick turns while maintaining control.

I know its a 4 cylinder but in 2000 I bought a new GT and it came with 260 horsepower. I thought that was pretty quick back then.

I like my 16 convertible. Gets 30 mpg on long trips and averages about 25. The real key to fuel efficiency in this car is staying out of boost. As for performance, obviously the V8 is faster but the car is plenty quick to be fun. I'll put it like this, it's comparable in a straight line to a 4.6 mustang from a few years back. I'm glad you posted this video though. I was kind of excited about possibly trading up to a 10 speed next time. Now, I will definitely play around with one at length before purchasing

Darill Fowler I have to say, if you do decide to purchase one. Buy the Manual over 10 speed. The power in my mind can be made up in drive quality and efficiency with the inline 4. They are great cars even without the V8

Like your review and defer to your experience testing cars on how it performs. I have 5200KM on my 2018 Mustang Ecoboost fastback with the 10speed automatic and performance package and have been recording litres/100km since new. My average now is 9.4L/100km, a long way from your recorded 15. The only way to get that with daily driving and keep your drivers license would be to drive in the middle of the desert. I even recorded a trip fuel economy over a 400 km distance of 8.1l/100km. So I guess my comment would be to hold off on bitching about normal fuel economy when you are "testing" a cars performance. To bad it is raining outside today, or I would try and imitate your 15l/100km claim. LOL Keep up the good work otherwise. Cheers

Enjoy listening to your reviews. Thought I would add an update. Just recorded 8.3litres/100km over a 3700km road trip. Average speed was about 108km/h and a high of 188km/h.... Cheers

We just did a week-long trip through the Rocky Mountains that at the end was 4941.3km and I have a 6.9L/100 recorded! 2018 Ecoboost

I have this exact car color and convertible with the digital dash and it was indeed jerky when I first got it, but the more you drive it the better u get and I have no jerkiness.

Is it the convertible version that makes the car not handle as good as a hardtop ecoboost?

Captain here , so to explain what is going on with the gear ratios is basically when you STEP on GAS the baby horse knows daddy wants power , so it is going to lower the gear for MAX RPM. After daddy steps off of gas , baby horse will wait for daddy for awhile , and then will start increasing the gears lowering RPM(10th gear - 50mph - 1200rpm on 2018 mustang ) for smooth baby horse ride, more fuel economy.

I built a full optioned hard top ecoboost stang on Ford's sight and had it at $45,000 I built the fastest accelerating Mustang GT possible on that sight and had it at $38,000 :)

I'm actually driving the exact same model at the moment,yellow...convertible..ecoboost and it totally jerks terribly,almost like when in the car with someone learning how to drive a manual transmission.It seems the only way to stop it is to keep the throttle at a very slow constant and applying minimal pressure to the gas.Are we going to talk about the cheesy noises coming out of the speakers to make it sound powerful?

Its not randomely giving you surges of power during shifts in drag strip mode, its increasing line pressure in the transmission and locking the torque converter up earlier to have a positive engagement shift so you dont burn the clutches up. Please understand engines/transmussions/shiftpoints and powerbands or cars in general before you make ridiculous claims.

If I wanted a 480 HP, 15-24 MPG GT, I would have bought the one sitting next to my 2018 Eco Boost Premium 2 Convertible. I like the 28-30 MPG

It’s only jerky because, like all modern cars, it’s trying to figure out how you drive and adjust shifts to how you floor it. I’ve had mine for almost a month now, about to hit 1k miles. It had the weird shifts in sport mode in the beginning but it’s smoothed itself out to the point that i just drive it in sport with no issues. That’s the thing with only having a week to review a car, you don’t actually get an accurate reciew since you’re always moving on before the car settles itself

Does it actually get good mpg? i have an Avalon and if it gets about the same gas i will get it for sure because i want a more fun car and newer to last me some years. my 07 is rated for about 22-32 while this is 21-31 i believe. You need to do a new review of the 2020 high performance eco-boost

average is 10.5L/100kms ? That's actually very good for a 310HP car... is that mostly highway ? I'm assuming he borrowed it from someone.. but that's good fuel economy for under 14 sec. quarter mile car... I saw one video where I guy got over 33mpg cruising hwy. speed limit in Florida.. that's amazing.. others claim less (oh, that was a 2016 ecoboost). not sure if new one is better or worse on fuel ?

I agree with most of the comments in here the host is a bit over critical and I caught him over dramatizing head movements in the car. I have a 2019 Ecoboost Performance and I found once you work with the car and really understand its 10 speed trans and work with it. Its a cream puff to drive. And I do intend to recalibrate it for 335hp and 390torque. Oh, and I am getting 19.5 MPG in Los Angeles, CA and don't baby my car!

I spent a week with one of these as a rental in Colorado this summer. I wanted a 5.0 hardtop but all they had was an echo boost convertible. Wouldn't buy one but if was ok for a rental.

I rode in a 2020 gt with the 10 speed auto, ya its fast but with that many gears the whole experience is muted i felt, i drive a 3v manual and its so much more rewarding and engaging to bang gears 🤷‍♂️

The hard top 4 banger is just as squirrelly in corners as the convertible. At least yours had the strut tower brace...mine doesn't nor does it have the side brace. It service manager at my local Ford dealership told me that some of them came from the factory without them. All in all though i love mine. It's wicked fast with enuf body roll to give grandma a heart attack. I went 800 miles on half a tank of premium.

Please tell me what kind of magic your car is powered by or what drugs you are on to think that you were able to get 800 MILES from only 7.75 GALLONS of fuel.

If you aren’t worried about a warranty; a tune fixes the problems with the power band. The engine is tuned with that dip in the power-band to meet emission standards. A tune makes the car more linear. Subaru did the same thing with the wrx. It has a weird dip in power right around 4,500 rpms. Then picks up in power around 5,500. It’s a stupid way to reduce emissions, but I guess whatever works 🤷🏻‍♂️

Can I get an EcoBoost without the jerking

I have a 2015 manual ecoboost and I get between like 8 and 9 liters per 100 kilometers. Even with giving it hell everytime I turn onto a highway

I ended up in a 2022 ecoboost convertible for 2 weeks as a rental car for. My company booked me a compact rental car when I went to pick it up they where out of those cars and asked if a Mustang would be OK at no extra charge. I said sure and when I went to pick it up from the lot that's when I found out it was a convertible! Since it was for work I got to live in this car driving over 200 miles 8 hours per day, so I really got to know the car very well! I personally loved the ecoboost and thought it was a fantastic driving car. That being said I haven't driven the V8 so I don't have that comparison, but I loved that car! For me I thought it had enough power and it was so comfortable and had great driving response! I had it always in either sport + or track mode and still got pretty good fuel economy. It also helped that the weather was perfect to have the top down every day I was in that car. One thing that was missing from the one I had was the paddle shifters so I had no way to manually change the gears. Apparently in the newer model years you only get the paddles if you have the performance pack which I do think was a weird choice by Ford. I thought the transmission did a pretty good job most of the time but occasionally seemed to be searching for gears. Over all though I personally found the ecoboost Mustang to be a great car and very fun to drive. I would love to own one!

Personal car experience plays a significant role in how we perceive different vehicles. While the Ecoboost made a great impression on you, I can't help but wonder how your perspective might change after driving a V8 Mustang or other similar cars in it's class.

To answer the question- No. I went out to buy a 2018 Ecoboost and drove home the GT with the automatic. I have an 80 mile round trip commute and wanted the 32 MPG of the smaller engine. I’m getting 26 with the V8 performance pack. The ecoboost engine felt limited and sounded terrible. The auto transmission takes about 300 miles to smooth out and learn your driving style. Shifting to sport mode turns it into a different car and it is insanely fast.

I think this guy is driving the Canadian version of ecoboost.

I just purchased a ecoboost premium and I love it! This is my second mustang I’ve had in 21 and I had a 02 new edge mustang v6 and upgraded to a new ecoboost. I ofc wanted a gt but had very rough time getting approved since I’m under 25 and I just turned 21. I wouldn’t want any other car than mustang I’m happy with my ecoboost I get 21 city 30 highway who could complain!

They make a hard top mustang?

It’s a pity they stopped building the V6. It had ok power and was smooth.

I average 10L/100km in my mitsubishi lancer hatchback 1.8 with only 143 HP. In comparison to that, the ecoboost gets great mpg for the power it puts out.... but if you compare it to the economy of the V8, it doesn't seem like a big difference for the amount of power you gain with the v8.

I autocross my 2018 EcoBoost pp manual and it does amazing I couldn't believe it I came 6th out of 72 ppl the first time I went that's keeping up to track spec brzs and miatas that had supercharged and I'm on the stock pzeros and they all have r888 or better tires and I avrg 9.4 l/100km and I drive hard so idk what the fuck your on and that's beating every other mustang gt there so for me it's pretty impressive and next step is tune and race suspension and I'll be set

Ya'll, dont listen to this guy! The EcBst is a MAGNIFICENT car!!! He just exagerated so much the negative aspects of the car. Comparing the EcBst with a V8 is like comparing a passenger plane with a Concorde. There shoud be no compararison to make, for one is(was) designed to commute and the other one to experience the thrill of speed and performance. I just ordered a 2024-yellow-convertible EcBst Mustang(just like the one in the video) and I'm quite eager for it's arrival. I ordered the premium version with the h.p. package, as well as active valve and magneride suspension. The MSRP ended up being quite high, like $54,000, but I still prefer that than a "super engine". Since I dont need it for racing or anything like that it will be a really fun car to drive around the city.

I had a 2016 boost for two years , cut off muffler, installed a carbon fiber hood. It was beyond fun super fast to 100. One day I test drove a 2019 GT and everything from the seats to the steering to the way the car rides the real Acceleration compared to the eco-boost jerk.it’s just not the engine which to say the least is beyond amazing it’s the total car the GT blows the EcoBoost away. The eco-boost is a good car for looks, but ,There is just no real heart or long term use . The best day of my life was getting rid of the eco-boost

Working on getting rid of mine. I have it tuned/bolt on to 380 hp but every time I see a gt I usually flick them off in jealously of that growl I don't have.😂

Still waiting on you guys to test a manual HPP, it is such a different and amazing car.

I know this video is old but I recently bought a used 2019 EcoBoost with some bolt ons and other modifications. I got it for $18,000 with 23k miles on it. I agree that the transmission feels weird and I even thought it was broken at first because of the jerking feeling that you are describing. Fortunately the car came with a COBB tuning computer so I just cleared the ECU and the transmission is flawless now. With mods and tuning the car makes around 368HP and 415 ft/lbs of torque. I am planning on replacing the stock turbo with the Precision NX2 kit and hopefully I could cross the 400 HP mark. OBVIOUSLY it isn't going to be as fast and "raw" as the 5.0, it's not even a question, but literally nothing beats Mustang EcoBoost in terms of price to performance. If you want a "sport/muscle" car look, of course. Also, I don't want to sound rude, but maybe learn how to drive "peacefully"? I get 24 mpg in the city and upwards of 33 mpg on the highway which roughly equals to 9.8 L/100km and 7.13 L/100km. I genuinely think something was wrong with the Mustang in this video because HOW ON EARTH did you get 15 miles per gallon/Liters per 100km? Could be the drag from driving without a roof, I don't know. Either way, great car, cheap car, fun car, will get a V8 when I graduate college. Video is wonky though

Several Reviewers have stated that the 10 speed Auto in the Ecoboost "Hunts for gears" and is a pain to drive. I am looking into buying an ecoboost 2017 or 2018. Any 10 speed auto ecoboost owners have a comment about this? Is there a software update to resolve that issue or is a 10 speed auto in an ecoboost really a deal breaker? I test drove both and liked the auto in the 2017 better, but I get a certified warranty and better stuff with the 2018. I didn't test drive the 2018 enough to experience it hunt for gears, but it did feel a little choppy here and there. Any actual owners agree with the 10 speed auto being bad in the ecoboost?

Fresh owners will have the issue for ~200-300 miles while it learns your driving habits, or whenever you have the dealership "reset" the transmissions ECU. I had it with my 19 EBM for the first week and since then it's never been an issue.

I have a 2018 Ecoboost and I get 23-25 city then 29-32 on the highway 💀

Some reviewers seem to think they need to not like things to be taken seriously... this guy is kind of a pain

I have a 2015 with 87000 miles on it (140013 km) It has been tuned since about 3000 miles) had it done a MAPerformace in Minnesota, with an intake dyno' ed at about 309 whp and 451 ft/lbs torque, trip meter 1 has not been reset since 3500 miles average with 45000ish city (with me beating the piss out of the car during city driving) and 42000is hwy mpg is 22.3. I see about 28.4 mpg hwy (closer to 30-31 from Michigan to Kentucky driving to Texas fuel mixture includes more ethanol the farther south i go.) Got it due to the fact that 28 to 30 is way better than 22 to 24 hwy on the 5.0 and with about 700 usd with handheld and tuning time went up from 251 whp and 289 ft/lbs to 309 and 451ft/lbs with about. Difference is weight is huge 3729 vs 3532 on the ecoboost plus the weight distribution is closer to 50/50 (52/48). Everything on the 5.0 to get those type of gains is not measure in hundreds of dollars but thousands. With fuel being 4ish dollars a gallon in 2015 march when I purchased I had to think not only about the sound, but cost of ownership, oil capacity difference for oil changes, fuel economy, etc, and the fact that the 2015 5.0 with the fuel economy difference with the ecoboost and the fact the 15 5.0 was slower that the 14 5.0 0-60 (due to weight) I choose this car. Still don't regret it, I still miss the V8 sound, but after I hopped into a tuned bolton 14' 5.0 and it had no nuts until 4500 plus I wasn't impressed. Now that being said mine is a manual pp, I agree with not having an automatic due to my fear of reliability and that was just thinking about the 6 speed let alone a 10 speed. Although if it is not ruined the automatic can be much faster... but for how long until it dies and gives up.

I have rented an Ecoboost a few times as well as test drove a few. Most of the time the Ecoboost does NOT exhibit the attributes the reviewer is describing at all. There's no lumpiness and very minor jerkiness at best. That said two that I test drove and the only ones with the all digital cluster (upgrade) did exhibit some of the choppiness he described. That makes me wonder if it has something to do with being mated to that gauge cluster, but not sure that makes sense. It's what i experienced anyway. I know that a long term rental with the normal cluster did not exhibit any jerkiness or anything the reviewer described and it had plenty of power. So I don't know.

I have never heard a more bias review, HA. You like the Coyote so much that anything less couldn't possibly be good. You pretty much started the review looking for anything bad about it to make sure you up-play the V8 so it seems better right off the bat.

I own the 5.0 10 speed...... it is a bit to get used to and it is really jerky in some circumstances... downshifting from 4th to 3rd is really iffy sometimes

I drove my buddy’s 5.0 and the lumpiness was ridiculous. Like either it was yanking you forward, or aggressively holding you back. And when I hear 5.0s driving around, you can kinda tell that it’s doing that.
