Nice one! Maybe do a comparison of consumption for given thrust, lets say 162N to keep it same. And how many ml/min is needed. I fly on diesel with K80 and kero K45. Keep up with this great videos, been watching your german ones for many years but this will bring you more people to your channel :)

Hi Tomislav, thank you very much. Good idea, I try to make some tests... The pump value shown in the bottom right corner of the GSU is nearly constant. I use a brushless pump, so the shown value should reflect the fuel consumption.

@@IG-Modellbau kingtech suggest in official manual to use diesel because it gives more thrust, maybe wrong translation, maybe it gives same for less ml/min, 5% they say.... Would be nice to see numbers like you tested now here. Because we fly with fixed fuel capacity tanks, always takeoff with full :)

Nice video, I want to clarify a couple of things for you. Jet engines are simple, more fuel equals more power until they go boom. (U know this tho). I did in fact recalibrate the pump according to the instructions many times as soon as I saw it didn't make enough thrust on diesel, I did the video for one reason and one reason only to introduce people to hydrodiesel fuel which is in its final micro emulsion version right now. I didn't care if the engine performed well or not, all I cared about is that the hydro diesel performed well. The system and the engine here that you are using is not the same one I was using, it's not the same engine or same pump type so obviously you will have different results...send me your pump baby...lbvs!, Also I never say what type of turbine I have, your just assuming, there are so many clones and I also have two engines that I built myself from scratch. I did in fact find the issue with my and it's not what everybody thinks, I am going to redo the test very soon here as my season just started last week, I meant to redo it like a year ago but I had some big family problems. I'm going to move that video up on my schedule, I have to take apart the jet powered Tesla first. Thanks!

THANK YOU!!!!!! The original dude that made that video DIDN’T do the test correctly. He didn’t recalibrate the pump for the different fuels as the MAX RPM for each test, it didn’t reach the same number which is SHOULD, it is clear in the video. I told him this twice and he responded in the comments, but still won’t redo the test correctly. I am surprised he didn’t redo it when so many people noticed there was something up both in the comments and on the forums where turbine guys are all in agreement that if the engine doesn’t reach MAX RPM from test to test which it SHOULD, of course it’s not gonna produce the same thrust…….

I actually did in fact recalibrate the pump many times as well as the pump limit to the max.. just like we talked about in the comments section A while back, if you have a different procedure to calibrate the pump, please share it with me, also everyone just assumed this is a certain brand of engine which I find kind of funny. You can get all these parts off of Alibaba to build the engine and I have. But as for the science behind the test yes diesel should theoretically make the same or more power than kerosene... I'm actually very excited to redo this test. Thanks in advance!

Hi Warped Perception, eventually your pump is to small to feed a 300N turbine? I have a 300N turbine as well and the pump is much bigger than the one used for a 200 / 220N turbine.

Temperature limitations still apply, and diesel fuel burns hotter. So, the correct answer is: it depends.... If you run the turbine at the same rpm as before, then thrust figures might be similar. But then you are running with less safety margins on diesel, compared to kerosene, because it's going to run hotter on diesel. If you expect the same safety margins as before, then you inevitably will have to drop turbine temperatures (and hence also max rpm), while running on diesel, and then you will observe less thrust on diesel, for similar egt. This is due to the fact that kerosene contains more hydrogen and less carbon, compared to diesel. Hydrogen releases more energy for less temperature when it's burned, than carbon does. Which means, the less carbon your fuel has, and the more hydrogen your fuel has, the more power you can acieve for the same exhaust temperature. This is true for any combustion engine, not just turbojets. (And thats why nitromethane fuelled dragsters can push 11 000 hp, without any engine cooling whatsoever. The fuel is so hydrogen rich, that the fuel itself is also cooling the engine).

Hi Vegard Witsø, as you can see at the GSU the EGT value is only 5°C above the A1 value and far away from the max value, the manufacture defined as a limit. So that is not a limiting factor!

Hi @@IG-Modellbau :) For your particular engine, it's true that diesel provides just as much thrust as kerosene. For different engines, operating closer to its max egt, the picture might be different. So, it depends. There is no clear yes/no answer, to wether diesel will provide less power, unless its tested on a specific engine (which you did test, very well :) ). Other factors we haven't talked about also plays a role. Such as combustion chamber design. Burning diesel efficiently requires better atomizing of the fuel, than kerosene. Which means that engines with less eficcient combusion chambers, will show a bigger difference between kerosene and diesel, than your, well designed engine does. I have seen this in practice, with the older motors showing orange flames when run on diesel, but no flames on kerosene. This indicates incomplete combustion. Your engine shows no flames on diesel, indicationg complete combustion. So your engine shows just a little hotter EGT on diesel. But these older engines, not being able to perform complete combustion on diesel, they will show much bigger EGT diefference, between diesel/kerosene. Thats because a portion of the combustion takes place behind the turbine wheel, hence it's heat that the turbine cannot convert to mechanical power (and thus cooling the exhaust gas).

Hi Vegard Witsø, my Test engine is old too, its out of production for over 10 Years. And, in the linked Video the EGT is for JetA1: 680° and for Diesel: 600° So the guy definitely did something wrong!

Now after watching you dip suction line in different bottles... Got an idea to try K45 g4 to run on diesel after it starts od kero first(it can not start on diesel) That would be doable wit Y splitter and ball festo valve for start from outside taxi tank and then shut off that valve and pump sucks from diesel tank in model... Kero is 3€/L here, and diesel 1.4€/L
