Love from Estonia, right back at you. Every summer i've noticed the influx of our Finnish family to our beaches, especially Pärnu. Don't get me wrong, you're super welcome, but I was wondering, why is that so? Is there something special about Pärnu for Finns or is it that you guys don't have good beaches? Always wondered about that :)

I am Estonian, a Tallinner. I do not like the people in Pärnu. They are kind of mean, especially behind your back. Tallinners may not be so nice to your face, but what you see is what you get. In Pärnu it is one thing how people behave, and they behave well. And as soon as you turn your back, they will start talking ill about you. I used to go to Pärnu hospital because the waiting lines were shorter. And while I waited for my appointment behind the registration desk, I heard the people working there comemnting on absolutely everyone they had just been nice to on the phone. It was disgusting to listen to. I actually went to tell them that, by the way, I can hear you. As a city, architecturally, Pärnu is nice, interesting, very different from Tallinn. Welcome to Tallinn though, it is much nicer. Enough of the Riviera:)

Pärnu is nice because of its architecture. I think so, as a Tallinner. Pärnu is different from Tallinn. Every town in Estonia is quite distinct. I like to walk around in Pärnu and just look at the houses. They are so randomly put together, in a good way. As for beaches. I don"t think any city beach is good. Beaches are good in nature, in the wild. And we have enough wild beaches.@@ONWorldTravel

Secondly, i heard from a podcast about the possibility that humans dont just get their trauma from their childhood but some get passed from your ancestors. Guess the chaos brought from our lovely neighbours fits the narrative. Maybe thats why most of us are not so trusting people. Or we really like looking at peoples shoes. And third i have to thank you for including the Singing Revolution part. To get the full experience you should come visit Estonia again when we have our Laulupidu 3.-06.07.2025. Usually restaurants and fansier places have more priceyer coffee (but it´s kinda arty too in some way) and food can be a bit expensive, even for us, locals. But like vending machine and machine coffees are a bit cheaper (machine coffees from gas station with your own thermos cup is more cheaper). And in work days (Monday - Friday) mos places have lunch offers where you get the whole meal with nice price. And it also depends of the location too. If you should have any more questions, i will try to help as best as i can :) Greetings from Estonia.

The only way that Estonia is a hybrid of Eastern Europe is because of the Soviet-imported Russian minority and the Soviet crap the occupation left behind. The culture of the Estonians has nothing to do with Eastern Europe and it is extremely insulting to suggest otherwise. Same with the religious aspect - Estonians themselves are even less religious than Czechs, but with Russians included, Czechia is a little more irreligious than Estonia.

Estonians are a Finnic tribe.. they are culturally and genetically different than the majority of Europeans and migrated nomadically all the way from the area that’s now China. They roamed all the way across Siberia to land on the Baltic, northwest russia and Finland. I think this plays into their introspection and introversion. Also I find it very interesting how quickly they developed European features like blonde hair and blue eyes when some of their related tribes have very Asian look. Sure they have been conquered by German crusaders and in modern times absorbed into Russia but the old Estonian word for slave was “Aryan” and they were actually raiders of the Vikings lands.

As a native estonian I must say, what a misleading comment this is. Estonians are part of Finno-Ugric group of people. Finno- Ugric people are from central Russia, more precisely from around Uralic mountains. Some of the people from this group do have some asian features, but they are more distant relatives to us. And estonian word for a slave is ORI and not ARYAN. From a language perspective finnish is the closest and easiest to learn and understand compared to any other finno-ugric language.
