When crates were in the game I was a lot younger, so even ten bucks was a huge amount of money to me. The best part about crates for me was that whenever a new one came out, I could trade it away for keys, which I could then use to get something I wanted. Unfortunately, both systems have been removed from the game.

@@SavouryLobster I was the creative lead for RBG esports and when we had our CS matches it was soooo much fun to mess with bettors.

One really weird thing I have with video games regardless if it's crates, drops, some kind of box you pay for and it has variance of what items you get, heck even RL tournament items - none (or at least very few) of them actually tell you what your odds are for getting what level of items. They'll say it's more likely or less likely, but they actually don't tell you the math. This is complete opposite of when you buy a box/open a pack of Pokemon, Magic the Gathering or sports trading cards. They will always tell you the math on the packaging. I think video game corporations should be held to the same standard.

The main thing for me that made lootboxes better was the economy was much cheaper. Most things were worth $1 or less and only a few rare (and often ugly) items attracted large value. The blueprints/shop were just a vessel to inflate the price of everything by 200-400%. So regardless of the gambling aspect the old system was definitely better to the end consumer for 90% of people.

Also, I highly recommend to anyone who is sportsbetting casually with parlays to stop doing them - parlays are almost always horrific prices and you are likely getting scammed of what the real value is. The only real exception to that is if you can do same game parlays and they're actually correlated enough (i.e. the team that is favored + the over or the underdog + the under). But most sportsbooks do not allow those because they know it's a loser long term for them.

The real sports betting crime is that every sportsbook in the US (except Circa) will significantly limit, if not, ban you if you start winning too much and/or consistently getting closing line value

I toss $5 on a game I’m watching and it gives me a good rooting interest. But, I can easily see how the dopamine hit from a hitting a big bet is incredibly dangerous.
