6:10 Going to nerd out a bit, but this game is very neat in using the Gestalt Principle of Closure. Essentially whenever you see anything with missing parts, your brain will try to fill in the blanks to make a structure that you recognize. Also LIDAR is the technology mose companies are using for their cars' self-driving mode; it's how they make out the surroundings

If I may, I would like to nerd out here too. For those that don't know LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging, and it's been used for measuring the surface of the earth and (more recently) creating images and 3D models of large geographical areas. By using a pulsing laser, it will travel down to earth and bounce back off of objects. Taller objects will return the laser particles faster than objects that are closer to the earth's surface. Modeling after taking the measurements can create images and 3D models that appear much like the game shows, revealing all kinds of features like faults and seamounts. It's super cool!

the lidar mod for garry's mod was actually inspired by a game called scanner sombre, so this games is actually inspired by a mod inspired by a game, which in itself is very similar to this. if you like this i'd recommend taking a look at scanner sombre

LiDAR sensor is used in 3d scanning. It emits laser to an object/surface then it receives the reflected laser and calculate s how far it is based on speed of light and the time it waits until the receiver receives the reflected laser back. Then scans another points like this and eventually makes a point could. The point cloud is what eddie sees in the game. Correct me if I am wrong. Btw iPhones have a LiDAR sensor so you can scan things/surfaces just with your iPhone.

I like to think that the premis is something like "curiosity killed the cat", you can walk in the dark if you want to, but you can scan to see around with the posibility that you see something you didn't want to

There's a game called Scanner Sombre that came out like 5 years ago, it's a little spooky and it was the first time I ever heard of this lidar concept.

I would also like to see a fully made game using this concept and they many could add a few more mechanics and features

There is also a game that used this mechanic that came out before the garrys mod version. I dont know if it was first but you definetly should check it out. Its called: Scanner Sombre. Anyway nice Video though.

so this game Lidar gives you stress because it gives you the option and decision of which way to go and where will you make a way for you to progress. Its just a horror game from gmod that lets you build your own way exploring everything beneath the darkness of the void. I too have played this game and the noise wouldnt stop as soon as i found the red entity so it gave me stress and anxiety and i would never play it again.

I was just talking about how great it would be if I reviewed horror videos (cuz i love the horror genre), and put a comedy spin on them. My family and friends have always told me I should be a comedian. Laughter is the key to my heart and soul! It's everything in my life.
