    I think if Spurs got a hefty fee him it wouldn’t have been as bad, he joined a better club and won more trophies than he ever would with Tottenham. But, to run your contract down and THEN move to your fiercest rivals; that’s just shitbag behaviour.

It isn’t like a normal job where you might get headhunted by a rival firm, this is an emotive sport where many people idolise (rightly or wrongly) the players of the team they support. He knew what he was doing, so he should face the consequences. Financially and in terms of honours won, it was the absolute best decision.

    Mate carra never played for Everton and came through liverpools youth system. Sol Campbell played first team football for spurs and was one of their most important players before moving to Arsenal. It's not the same.

    I was as angry as the next man about Campbell. I can remember this first game back at WHL and I’ve never experienced an atmosphere as vicious as that, ever since …. What I think time has taught us since, though, is that he’s deluded to the point of being mentally ill. I wouldn’t say I have sympathy for him. But I have struggled to maintain the anger in recent years. He’s a fruit loop. He’ll never get it

    I think he may actual have a mental disorder, but crazy or split personality, I think he may be a psycho (not mad, just emotionless, can't feel joy or sadness, didn't understand it), few times I've heard him in TV, he never says how he feels, just tells you nwhat he sees & what he thought.     I'm a Manchester United and would've loved to have seen Sol in a United shirt. Whilst I regard him as English football's biggest traitor, the blame has to lie with the Spurs board. They turned down good offers for him and allowed him to go into the final year of his contract. They should have put a contract in front of him and said 'Sign now or be placed on the transfer list and be denied a squad number'. The board are as much to blame as Sol.

    I don't understand why people don't get his reasons. At the time the only competitive clubs that for an elite player to join in England were Arsenal and Manchester United. Sol is a London guy so of course he'd choose Arsenal so he could win things and still be around his family. Jamie saying he could have gone to Barcelona as if it wasn't a team in disarray at the time. Not to mention all the off field stuff that comes with moving to a whole other country where you don't even speak the language.

    Fans like him do my head in. Your team is their employer and unless they have some kind of prior affiliation to your club such as coming through the youth system or you're their boyhood club, then your club will always just be their employer. Your feelings don't natter, they WILL ALWAYS go where success and money is, just like you would move jobs if you was offered better conditions and more money. Take your feelings and go cry in the corner.

    Owen wasn't the player he was when he joined Manchester United in 2009, so I don't think that's as bad. If he'd left Liverpool and gone to United in 2004 instead of Real Madrid, then that would definitely sting more.

    Thinking of footballers as traitors shows how dumb football can be. Most players playing for a team is there to play in the premier league, they don't have any loyalty to any of the team besides their contracts and perhaps friendships, not every Arsenal player are Arsenal fans.

    Nobody's expecting them to. But you'd expect a little bit of loyalty from the captain, who's come through the youth team and been there over a decade. Most players that are in that position probably wouldn't do this, or there'd be a longer list.
