Seems very similar to kitchen knife scams. They send out top end samples to creators to review but what they actually offload to customers is something completely different. As for general advice - any 'company' that fails to list their actual physical address and legal entity name is never to be trusted.

Thank you for responding to the issues surrounding ShiftCam and their products. I am one of the little people that made the purchase from them and like many others, I waited, waited and waited for the product to arrive as I was looking forward to using them on recent travels. Needless to say that I didn't receive them before my trips and when I reached out to inquire about the status, I got the runaround and then just when I was about to do a social media post (not a big youtuber or anything), I received my product just before the new year. I don't know about anyone else but they have ruined any future purchases surrounding Kickstarter anything. I also would like you to know that I respect the fact that you made a follow-up video about the treatment from ShiftCam.

Great video! Thanks for your input on this, hopefully they figure it out I have been stoked to get them but still waiting… I think more people are mad that kickstarter also seems to not care. It was my first kickstarter experience and I won’t be doing that again.

I backed the project based on your review, Shane. I did get my lenses though they were about 2 months late to ship. A lot of people were upset because shipping and customs cost extra, while they do this for free for products bought from their website. The lenses I got were ok (the 16 and 60mm), image quality was not what I was expecting. I am using them on an older Samsung Note 20 with the universal adapter so that could be a reason.

The shipping stuff is pretty vague. It's not a shock that customs are likely to be involved, but it would be a lot better if they warned people. I asked about it in a comment on their instagram but got no response. I bought a lens and case despite all the sketchiness because it's just so much more what I want than any of the other options. No other lens got reviews like the 60mm and long-range macro 75mm other than Beastgrip, and the beastgrip cages are way too bulky for my needs. I wish someone would make a normal phone case that could mount the Beastgrip 1.7 tele!

Nothing really in this that suggested risk. Apple still sells their product.

I have reached out to them. They said that they are having delays with their cases, and that's what is holding up the orders. I have periodically been emailing them since June. I have not been happy at all with their customer service so far, though. I think that all of these delays have been ridiculous, and they have done a poor job communicating with their customers.

Glad I saw this. I saw your earlier review on Shiftcam lenses and was considering buying. I even talked with him on Facebook just a few days ago. But I think I’m gonna cross them off the list now. Unless something has drastically changed I don’t know what to think at the moment.

@@ShayneMostyn I found an alternative method to get their lenses. They have a store on Amazon as well. Feel like I can get an extra layer of protection there (just in case).

Got burned on one kickstarter product years ago and never tried another. I did buy some ShiftCam MagSafe stuff (which I liked), but that was after it hit Amazon. Honestly, when it comes to iPhone filters and lenses, and their associated cases, I’ve had too many go obsolete as soon as I upgraded my phone to bother with them any more. My iPhone is what it is and if I desperately need a different sort of lens, well, my camera comes out of storage, but that seems to happen less and less anymore.

My local camera shop seems to have them in stock as well. Very sketchy and mistreating the initial supporters. I really hope the units i receive is decent..

@@jerclarkedotorg @gamerocity6934 My units have arrived. Im still at work and not able to test things in depth but they seem generally ok except for the 60mm telephoto. It definitely has the lens flare issue and id think its not really a matter of specific units. The lens really needs a bigger hood in general, which i might be able to resolve with some 3D printed attachment. Macro lenses and wide lens are pretty great as i kind of expected. Ill need some time on anamorphics. Oh also, no lens caps are present except for the fish eye lens. Ill probs make some 3D printed ones.

Thank you so much for this video I was minutes from ordering these based on lots of reviews online and the fact that they sell these at Apple. My biggest worry about spending £1200 on the full kit was future proofing, I swap my iphone every 2 years, Apple are always updating their cameras and lenses, which will affect the quality of these lenses. So I won’t be ordering based on this review. Thank you for saving me a shed load of money!

I backed This campaign with the full Deluxe kit. Apart from hearing many reports of how crap they are considering the pre-launch prototypes, I was for the 50th time, promised they would be sent this week. Again...nothing! Unless you like throwing your money down the drain....DONT' buy Shiftcam (or Shitcam) and like Shane...I will never go near another Kickstarter campaign as their customer support is equally bad. I have shared this video with Shitcam. Well done Shane...thanks for exposing it and sorry that they had any opportunity to smear your reputation. Your video here though completely resolves that.

I ordered a lens tele and wide lense combo and a cpl filter when the iphone15 was launched. They were giving free cases then as well. So ive been on the waitlist for quite some time (even though it is nothing compared to kickstarters i imagine). Originally it was said to be shipped mid october so i was fine with that. But it got delayed to late october and then to mid november and u guessed it to late november. Every delay i did reach out to them and I did not find an issue with their customer service like ive seen many say (just my experience). Everytime they said their usual apologies and finally they said it would be shipped late november no later. Well its approaching that time and im yet to have an email regarding my shipment. Im hoping theu dont let me down this time.

@@heritagetourswexford I ordered and waited over a month. Then i cancelled it and ordered during the Black Friday sales and it shipped quickly from Hong Kong in a about 2 weeks. The lenses i received were worst than the ones that content creators are reviewing for free. @@heritagetourswexford I did the kickstarter for it and it was supposed to ship back in July and I received mine 2 weeks ago. They did put out a big note on the kickstarter event just before that on some supply issues they were having with the anamorphic lenses so that is likely what is slowing it down.

Could you please review the Moment T-Series Lenses?

I ordered. Waited and waited. Eventually received the filters and case, but no lenses. No updates. They DID finally refund the lens purchase amount, but I would have had to pay for shipping the other items back to Hong Kong. Wasn't worth it. Don't blame you guys AT ALL. Just sucks. Ordered Sandmarc lenses and received in a few days. Very happy.

I ordered on their website in the pre-order time and received my lenses about 4 months later...but I still haven't received my traveled pro that was in that same order. I recently contacted them about that, since I do see it for sale on amazon, but 4 days have passed now so not sure if the tripod will be sent out. My fedex shipping was sent out within 1 day overnight I received them, with no customs problems or whatever, but like some of the comments I definitely won't shop their store in the future since the time to turnaround may be forever, so eBay or amazon are a better bet.

FIY Shayne... I waited 3 months for my kit... it never arrived. They refunded the full amount last week... it only took a couple of days after I requested the refund. Thanks for your channel.

This is why I absolutely REFUSE to do Kickstarter, Indegogo, or any other crowd-funding source. You want me to buy your product? Produce a batch and put it up for sale. Don't ask me to fund your venture or otherwise speculate/ gamble that I MIGHT get what I want.

My lenses etc all turned up this morning. The delays and lack of communication haven't been good, and after seeing this video 2wks ago was very worried it was a scam. But it clearly wasn't. Looking forward to trying them out. Hoping the quality is as good as the hype

@@jerclarkedotorga quick blast suggests they’re very sharp, although the telephoto seems prone to lots of lens flare. The macro’s are really good but the fixed aperture of my iPhone means the depth of field is incredibly shallow. Going to be fun seeing what they’re like over time.

@@daveslater6156 Thanks! Yeah I’m mentally preparing for that lens flare to ruin lots of shots when my 60mm arrives. Just part of the deal for that sharpness it seems. And yeah, the macros sound great, but that shallow dof is a lot less practical than the built in macro on iPhone, which gives you an outrageously deep dof compared to any mirrorless camera. You can get shots that are just impossible normally, BUT they are grainy and have awful bokeh! Add on lenses curse you with mirrorless levels of shallow dof, but then if you get the shot it will be so much more beautiful. Good luck!

I have had a meeting with these guys now. They have sent out all orders and have explained what went on. Im satisfied theyre on top of things now. I will have a set of the production lenses soon enough to test out too.

@@ShayneMostyn really pleased to hear that. Important to keep the information flowing on this so that people can see they’ve fulfilled the kickstarter campaign. Influencers can make or break a company. I’ll be very interested to hear your views on the production lenses when you get them. If they’ve managed to come close to the samples you were originally sent during mass production I’d have to say a very well done to them despite the delays and poor communication. As I said above on first light they seem incredibly sharp although not without the compromises I’ve mentioned.

I have been reaching out since October and no answer. Not cs,vip or any of their email addresses. Finally got a shipment update on Dec 23. It’s held at customs and they want me to pay another $300. I think I am going to dispute the charge because I ordered in October.

That’s not good I find most of the lenses to be way too expensive anyways I understand it cost money to produce them but I don’t think it cost more than 10 or $20 to produce one lens yet they want to charge 100+ dollars if they weren’t so bloody expensive I would consider buying a set myself because I feel everything on my iPhone but they’re just way too bloody expensive in my opinion and it doesn’t matter what company you look at are all super expensive just for a set of filters you can get filters for professional cameras for cheaper than you can get them for an iPhone

I’m super early backer (in the 200s) for full kit and I’ve got nothing although higher backer number have their product. Only promises. The lens may be fine but the customer service SUCKS!

I ordered a tele lens and got it in two weeks. Their odering system is a bit confusing which I thought the phone case would come with the lens but not. So I ordered the case but didn't hear anything about it in two weeks. Then I emailed them and got a reply in two days saying they were waiting for stock to come in mid November. They should have put a note saying preorder and estamated shipping dates. But I don't believe its a scam.

I'm in the same boat, but ordered the lens and case together, so at least I'll get them at the same time if they ever come. Strikes me as just a very very poorly run business, though with some great engineers getting screwed over in the background. Clearly something is up with the case manufacturing. Maybe they shouldn't be taking orders for the cases if they can't guarantee a ship date.

update: I ordered the case in October last year but still haven't got it till now. I emailed them and I was told it was delivered on the 21st of December. Definitely there was no delivery on that date. Shiftcam gave me a track number and the case was meant to be sent from a company in Hongkong. Now I have a lens but I cant' use. very unhappy!

i love my Shift cam Pro grip but lenses never worked out for me even Moment Lenses were never very good in my opinion.

@@iPhoneGamer247 It sounds like Curtis didn't try the ShiftCam lenses, and is talking about lenses in general not working. Correct me if I'm wrong. The thing is these reviews are so different for ShiftCam. Many channels had almost nothing bad to say about ShiftCam image quality, while reviews of every other lens system by the same creators seem to be all about comparing their messed up corners and chromatic aberration. The only other lens that seems to be on the same level is Beastgrip, which have great quality but are expensive, enormous, heavy, and require equally enormous and heavy cages that you'd never want to keep on your phone full time.

So… I too ordered, waited, inquired, got the run around, gave up. Finally the lenses showed up. And they are slick. Prob was, I ordered the wrong case. That was on me. So I tried reaching out 😅only to find out they were sans comms. Crickets. I started chirping on their socials and they did reach out. I also noticed they changed the name of the company which threw up some red flags. And then one day, I got an email. And they have been legit w it since. Like, really good at getting right back w me. I ordered a new case and it finally shows up and I must say, the initial impression is nice. They do seem to be high quality. The lenses seem high quality, the case is really nice, the cleaning brush and lens cases are really sweet. I’m new to photography so I’m working out some kinks in my methodology. But I think they will work nicely. Finally. They had a rough start, but it seems they are taking strides in changing. Not sure I’ll order anything else, but it eased my mind.

Good to hear mate. I think what happened was they sub-contracted the communications around the kickstarter. Once that was sorted, it seems to be all good sailing.

They were super responsive to all my email until I asked that my order be cancelled and money refunded...*crickets, nada

Here's my take. The lenses are fantastic. The build quality is incredible. I love the telephoto lens. When I pair this lens over the 200MP sensor, there is a noticeable difference in the zoom quality. You can zoom into 6x and do not lose any image quality at all. I am very impressed with the products themselves

I have been having awful trouble with Shiftcam. I ordered back in September, many many promises that the products would ship over the past 80 or so days but still nothing. I resorted to tracking them down and posting on their LinkedIn posts. Got a response, more promises. And then radio silence for over two weeks now again. I just don’t understand why they were taking money on their site for products they did not have. I have paid over €700 for products and I have no idea if I will get them or my money back. It’s horrendous. I bought them based off of reviews and the fact that Apple retail their products. I’m reporting them to Apple because many Apple customers fell for that same trap. Bitterly disappointed and frustrated at the potential loss of so much money.

I still have not received my order after 3 months nor are they responding to my emails. They told me late November but still waiting... The gear they gave you was I think just to encourage sales which they are not fullfilling. I'm out €615

Got my order yesterday.

I bought the original kickstarter set, and it took forever when they started. I have never been able to use them the way they claim, and then they came out with a new, more sleek set. I hate them and have been sitting on 7 lenses that really don't work right with my iphone. As a photographer and someone who spent a ton on these, I wouldn't purchase again.

Not sure about the first ones they released. The set I tested are probably the best on the market. The after sales with the kickstarter was really bad though. I think thats been resolved since then though.

I ordered a lens, polarizer and a few other items three months ago... and still haven't received it. They claim it is the *free* iPhone15 case but I am done. Disputing it with my credit card.

I think these would be hard to beat. They are the best lenses I have used. Customer support after launch was poor. I think its on the mend now though. Havent tried the moment ones so I honestly cant say if they are better or not.

Honest reviews all around, including a lot of downsides of Freewell compared to what they said about ShiftCam (and the same people are honest about Moment, whenever I check their reviews). Better company but worse lenses is a very frustrating thing to learn as a consumer 🫠
