Saints row 1 & 2 will always have a place in my heart and game library....every one after that can take a running jump

As a fan of the first two Saints Row games, I always felt like they were often overlooked and dismissed as just GTA clones. Which is a shame because they are a lot of fun! Thanks for making me appreciate Saints Row a bit more, as over the years I've forgotten the awesome smaller details.

They are definitely a lot of fun! The similarities with San Andreas were really bad timing, but I appreciated how SR added new features on top of GTA. It's so much more than a GTA clone imo.

I'm not so sure, Saints Row 2 is loved by a lot of folk

My ex wife introduced me to SR. It was her favorite game over GTA. Seeing this brings back nostalgia and man does it hurt. I loved these games but I am sure a lot of it has to do with my ex. We had so much fun together playing them. I wish I could go back and relive it. Just spend time with her. Now she’s married to someone else and left me with our three kids. Man this hurts.

This is a truly SUPERB nostalgic games channel/review/deep dive channel! I am SO GLAD to have discovered you, this is some truly next level writing and editing. Amazing!

Saints Row 2 improved on everything from the first game much like Destroy All Humans 2 did both franchises were made by the same publisher I know almost all of the pedestrian voices off by heart and I had the luck of playing both franchises as a teenager as I wasn't allowed have Grand Theft Auto as a teenager so both Destroy All Humans and Saints Row games were great alternatives for me well at least the first two

Big fan of Saints Row 1 & 2, but being forced to do side content to be able to do a story mission I didn't like then and don't like now

Great quality videos, i honestly believe this channel is about to grow exponencially

Thanks that's good to know. It's great when games give us customisable controls, especially older games when this feature wasn't always included. The cruise control makes shooting from vehicles a lot better tbf.

Can't wait for the next video! I wanted to 100% the achievements for this game, but sadly some are tied to a lot of multiplayer grinding, just can't justify the time spent playing, paying for gold and the overall low player count. A real shame for a lot of these old games where obtaining everything depends on servers that just don't hold up after all these years.

Yeah I tried playing multiplayer for the review and couldn't find any games on Xbox. It's a shame because I have loads of good memories playing it from back it the day.

Man I never played saints row 1, but you were right in your saints row 2 review. Even though the models are older they still look better then 2.

Really good video! I think you did great in acknowledging the strengths and flaws of SR1. It would of been nice if you went more into the narrative and characters, since I think those elevated the game too. Personally, I liked the fact that the playa was silent because it makes it easier to play pretending your a woman since that wasn't an option until SR2 and I think it brought some humor to the game. The scene in the elevator is funny to me not because the joke is good but because the playa chose their first words to Johnny to be a shitty joke. I hope your video gets more views because it really deserves it. Looking forward to your next video on Saints Row!

Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! That's a fair point about the narrative as I did skim over it. I wanted to go more in depth with other parts of the game so I shortened the narrative section. But yeah, I agree the narrative and characterisation was very good. Maybe in my SR2 video I'll go more in depth. Also, I'm enjoying the voiced protagonist in SR2 a lot more. It all feels much more natural.

Pretty good video man, to give my opinion on if Saints Row is still a good game in 2022 my answer is yes it's still a great game till this day and the most underappreciated game in the series The customization, cars, gameplay, soundtrack, story, characters, and city I just love it all, I usually either drive around listening to the amazing radio or walk around and take in the scenery while listening to the audio player Oh btw here's two things you should've mentioned in your video but can point out in your future videos 1. In combat there's a simple little mechanic that strangely never returns in any of the future games (and even in the reboot by the looks of it) and that's sprinting and reloading, something small that kinda changes the way you think about what to do during combat 2. The phone, and man does it add a lot to Stilwater and is even better than GTA 4's phone, one example is on any of the 3 different taxi cabs you come across if you call their respective numbers they'll all pick up the phone and send a cab right your way basically unlocking another way to fast travel around the world, try doing that in GTA 4 and you'll get nothing Again the phone is amazing and I highly recommend calling any number you see it leads to some funny answering machines and also a way to unlock a secret homie

Thanks man, I completely agree. Exploring Stilwater listening to some 2006 tunes was my favourite part. That's interesting about the combat. I've noticed that as I'm playing SR2 now. You can't reload and sprint which feels weird coming form the first game. The phone is really cool too. Another mechanic that GTA adopted in the future!

I wish I could play this game again. I once had a XBox 360 and this game, and remember it being such a fun (ahem) GTA game. Now I hope it gets a re-release, but with a reboot around the corner, it might not happen. Still, get this game.

As with most series' original entries, they don't age well because sequels are most of the time the "superior" version.

I always say that when you develop or program new games and create details, you should simply orientate yourself on old games.

Saints row games are actually worlds ahead of the gta games. in sr1 you could even buy piercings and choose different rings and materials. in sr2 you could dye clothes however you want to imitate brands or clothes from the real world, something like that is missing in gta. the tuning was simply ahead of its time. just like many little things that made Sr1 and Sr2 almost better gangster gang games than gta for me. but we all know that pathological advertising friendliness and lbgtq phases as well as equal rights stuff all had a negative impact on the games. Certainly not everything was perfect in SR1 + SR2, but some of these games were gta 5 + gtao years mentally ahead. It's a pity that companies can't even take such examples and fall back on old ideas. well gtao has been developing into a fun action parody based on SR3 for 6 years, it used to be more serious.

I loved explosions in Saints Row. GTA IV's were bland comparatively.

On par with gta 4 except for the story and main missions but no where near Sam Andreas

I wish Volition had just remastered this game instead of releasing that shitty reboot. Of course developing open world games isn't easy, whether it's a remastered (GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition), a reboot (Saints Row 2022) or a new IP (Cyberpunk 2077). I just know a lot of PlayStation fans like me who never played the original would've jumped on the idea...

saints row 3 fucked everything up in my opinion saints row 1 has the best graphics and physics and multi-player its just sad what happend to the series

they wanted to appeal to the gta kids and it worked, best selling game. However, only so because people thought it was going to be like sr2 and was set up to be disappointed. I say sr4s better than the third just cus you don't have to drive through the ugly streets of Steelport.
