Pokemon should be a hobby, not an investment

I’m with you ish. lol so I think buying cases of booster boxes is ridiculous to invest but you can’t change people. However! I feel most people who “invest” only have a couple sealed product from each set and it’s on display with our cards. I still enjoy it like it’s a painting but also enjoy watching it go up. I’ll never get rich from it but it’s makes child me so happy to see sealed products taking me back in time to ripping that exact set and those good memories

Try being an actual player of the tcg and getting cards you need for a deck...ridiculous...pokemon caters to the investor side

It can be both. It's possible to love this hobby while hoping your cards/sealed items gain value. That's the whole point of collectables.

151 has brought me back to pokemon. When looking at this set, the first card that caught my eye was the Psyduck illustration, couldn’t have cared about him before. But WOW the artwork is beautiful. I just HAD to go get the Japanese version to really complete the look. I’m looking forward to completing the set!

same exact thing here bro i had not opened a pack for more than 15years and i saw psyduck and i just had to.. -2k in my bank account cause i got hooked and made a collection

Same exact situation for me bro! My 5 year old son wanted to start collecting so I slowly started researching and getting back in the game. As soon as I saw the 151 collection I was hooked! The art on this set is so dope!

Wrong , Pokemon is a great hobby and a great investment , if u know what you are doing , that’s why we all watch these videos , to get great advice

yes. buy it all up retail and under. still some out there. im most bullish on base set tho. and then sword and shield

100%. I feel getting this one for retail and under won't last very long. And yes base set & S&S are excellent!

Hard to find this set at a normal price anywhere really at least in Europe ... booster bundles are nowhere to be found too .

151 is getting hard to find here in the US. Its mainly shelves stocked with Paradox Rift and the new Paldean Fates. When a store does get 151 in its almost gone that same day. For example my local Meijer store just got a box of 151 binder collection sets in i snagged 2. I went back 2hrs later and the rest were gone! Best Buy sells out of booster packs within mins. Crazy!

I got a premium collection for 76 dollars on eBay. I picked up everything for this set except the binder collection and the zapdos ex box. I’ve been investing in Paldean fates and paldea evolved. Plus some crown zenith.

Yeah I grabbed 12 151 upcs for 85 feel like I overpaid but don't care these will be 200 in a few years

Its undoubtably an amazing set and has great potential. But the one thing that will determine its fate is supply. Pokemon has absolutly swamped us with endless product of special sets ever since shining fates. Think pokemon go, crown zenith. If they keep it full stocked and oversupplied at all times for 2 year or more, like shining fates, it could cripple and stagnate it for a few years. Its worth keeping this in mind, as we have no way to predict or control this aspect.

Great point. However I am okay with the over supply. As a father and being a kid who collected, the first thing on Pokémon’s mind should be that younger generations have access to product. Imagine if we couldn’t open our favourite sets as a kid?

@@phillips.collectibles ive found that if you have a pulse on the market and just sort of go by feeling, you can tell when things are starting to dry up and become less available. This is when I like to grab stuff when it restocks. When prices start ticking over msrp, and drops start getting bought out in a few hours at msrp, thats a good time to buy in and not have your money kind of tied up and wasted. Opprotunity cost is real because things are climbing everyday in the pokemon hobby

I opened 18 boosters and got the erikas ar the zapdos ex ar the dragonir and bulbasaur and the squirtle ar...i thought the pullrate is insane until i hear everybody complain haha

I chose to stick with the Japanese masterset (including masterballs) Almost finished grading all the masterballs too! 15 left until a full PSA10 set 😁 Going to make my first video once it’s done!
