Project cars 2 has one major big issue, you can't feel the speed at all. Driving with 240km/h seems like you go with 80. Immediately feel it something is wrong with the game

I returned project cars 2 the day after I bought it when it came out and still play project cars 1 every week.

I know I am late to this post but for me PC1 is my favorite out of the three. I love the lighting in this one and details like if you are sitting on a road that is an incline and you have the gear engaged the car will sit there and not move, but if you depresse the clutch and hold it or put it in neutral the car will start to roll backwards as it should, like in real life. Then there’s the track, take the Nordschleife For example. In PC2, the curves are angular looking compared to the same track in PC1 and the Nordschleife track in PC2 Has that washed out gray look. If you're driving a stick and decide to downshift while entering a curve and you downshift in too high of a Rev the rear end will break traction like you would expect in real life at least. I experienced that when driving the BMW M3 in the game. Also the engine sounds are better to me in PC1 and I like how the cars handle in this version better. In PC2 The cars do not even feel like they’re touching the road, feels floaty and like you're driving on ice. The car models in PC1 look better to me in third person and if you look at the tires the detail is of such that it looks like real rubber and the surface of the tires will get dirty if you go off road. Again I personally believe since the 4K60 patch that came out in 2017 for this version, it plays better and looks better than when it first released in 2015. As someone who owns all of the Forza Motorsport games except for motorsport 8, The car handling after all these years still feel more realistic than Forza and they gave you more tweaks and settings for the controller than Forza ever did.

@ericjpdt you got check out this Bathurst run by a Mercedes AMG GT3. Then, use that same car on Bathurst in PC1. PC1 does a very good job of replicating that feel of the car and the sense of speed. I drive in cockpit view. PC2 does not have that sense of speed and feeling of grip. Also, on Bathurst's downhill portion, you get a very good sense of downward momentum to the point that you have to be skillful with the brake application so that you maintain good momentum and not lose control. The downward momentum on Bathhurst in PC2 is very weak. You can almost keep your foot on the gas throughout the downhill portion. This is the link on KZread. Hey I was wandering if you could help me, so I want to get project cars 2 but the only game of the 3 I have played is 3 (I’m buying 1 this weekend) but I’m not sure if PC2 is worth it, you can see the key prices on G2A for either the normal or deluxe edition since that’s what I’m thinking. Do you think it’s worth me buying PC2 for that price or will project cars 1 + 3 make up for it, thanks

@@Nakiro21 It's not the turbo that's not the problem. You know when that's kicking in. If you enter the corner and try and catch the slide it's almost impossible. I have done it but very rarely. Especially nasty is the slow to medium to high speed bend at the end of Silverstone. The long right.

For real. I remember thinking the Cars in pc1 somehow feel more alive like each individual car had its own aggressiveness and characteristics

To some extent I believe you're correct. pCars 1 has more natural wheelspin than pCars 2 in a few cars, so you're right in saying the cars feel more lively and there's something with the tires going on.

P Cars one on series x is astonishing, looks far better than 2 and is completely solid frame wise

Thanks so much for posting this. I am on PS4 with a T150 wheel, and PC2 is like driving over cobblestones, PC1 is like a real race track, you can feel the car starting to lose grip and correct, in PC2 the wheel just goes dead and the car either spins or doesn't respond. I have been looking for some good FF settings but none seem to correct this.

I would say that I prefer PC2 mainly because PC1 has a little too much snap oversteer. I agree that the lighting is slightly better.

Why I play PC1 more than PC2: w/ my T300 wheel on PS4 Pro, PC1 steers very smoothly. In PC2 it steers very lumpy. It's as if the game recognizes the wheel at less than half the points in the rotation. Also I like the shifter & Super karts. Doesn't make sense to me why they removed them for PC2. Where PC2 has improved: better & adjustable cockpit views, graphics, more cars & tracks, better spotter, more adjustments to cars, can change settings while in race, wide variety of weather, & can run any car on any track.

PC2 must have had an update but I still pref PC1 because how the wheel feels. Now in PC2 the wheel is recognized throughout the rotation but still very ratchety, even w/ all the smoothing effects maxed. Seems like all the bumps & shifts of the car are magnified & put through the wheel & I can't smooth them out. PC1 & most other games are much smoother w/ the wheel.

The reason Project CARS 2 was worse was because of the rush to include more content, after consumers were disappointed by the initially low amount of content planned. SMS added quite a bit more at the expense of what Project CARS did better.

If PC1 had the cars from PC2 it would be legendary

I always felt the PC1 was better. Sure PC2 was prettier and the FFB setup menu was much more user friendly, but it never really excited me in the same way PC1 did. Glad im not alone on that

And without this kind of videos we couldn't really find people in that idea, I am too, and when I said that, one or two years ago, people said : why do you stay on pcars 1 ? This sim is dead and you're just an idiot. By the way, now, you can find pcars 1 at 5$ on some websites, so I think pcars 1 isn't dead.

Hey guys, Can anyone recommend global FFB settings for the t300rs wheel for PC1?

Wow, I just said this today and have felt like that for a while! I also believe live track 2.0 goes wonky sometimes as well. I thought I was the only one felt like that. Maybe it's a N.C. thing LOL

I definitely agree pCARS 1 is better than pCARS 2. I just really enjoy how the cars handle on the limit and just over the limit in the first game. Catching slides feels fantastic in the original pCARS title.

I can’t stand the ffb in both titles but I still think PCars2 is better overall. So many other frustrating things about pCars 2 that annoy me to the point I rarely load it up.

I had to try this, as soon as I got PCars2 I uninstalled the 1st game and never looked back. Boy am I glad I did now, you are on the money especially for PS4 version. PCars2 blurry textures 30fps replays I have fallen in love with PCars again lol. Yes I know the 2nd one has better tyre model and livetrack but you cannot beat the crispness and raw beauty of PCars 1 and those engine sounds are mainly better in my opinion. Even the colour palette on PS4 at least is better on PCars1

Yes, when i bought Project Cars 2 for PS4 i was disapointed with the grafics been so much better in the first game. Also, the handling in Project Cars 1 is far superior, in my opinion.

Car sounds bugger me the most. PC1 had such good car sounds (it was the reason I bought the game in the first place), in PC2 most of the car sounds are bad or nowhere near the sound of the real car.

I agree with so much here!

PC2 controls is wonky, the steering is jerky and not smooth. When I do a time attack at the ring, I am more confident on PC1 and brake at the last corner, PC2 feels mushy. Tried both wheel and controller, same results.

I did a lot of pre testing then alpha and beta testing for pcars 1, there seemed to be a lot more community input into 1 than I saw going on with 2. 2 is a great step up but the amount of hours I put into 1 will always make it the best one for me.

Anyone got a legal way to get the full game on PC?

So probably a dumb question but do you actually get access to ALL cars and tracks right away when you start the game? Like you don't need to go through a career mode and aquire money to get really good cars? I'm thinking of getting an Xbox One and Project Cars might be the first game I purchase.

Yes if I recall you do get access to all content from the get go. You can setup various race types based on car class etc. There was also a decent “career” mode if you wanted to play that way too but they weren’t tied together.

Just did it today. I play most of the time offline. I find the career mode in PC1 way better. Longer Championships, sometimes 2 races at one weekend, more practices. Every championship was simulated, even those where didn't drove. You could cancel a season. You got contract offers so you're selection of the cars you could drive is limited. You don't have to jump to the end in a qualifying session if you done your first lap and you're not sure whether it's enough. The driving feels most of the time better. The FFB feels better too. In PC2 the cars sound all the same. The most funny thing is the tire model. I have more grip with Rain tires in dry conditions than with slicks😂. The only reason why I play PC2 is more content, better graphics and its newer. PC2 I still good but after 2.5 years it still don't feel right.

And the penalty system in PC2 is way to strict. I can't remember how PC1 handled it but I hope that they fix it PC3. I lost the there in PC2

Trackir works better in pc1 rather than pc2. With pc2 I have to disable my vr headset so I can use trackir.

I played both Pcars 1 and Pcars 2 intensly the past week and prefer Pcars 1 by a wide margin, including the graphics! Can't stand those 3d trees in Pcars 2, they stand out too much and look more fake than the 2d ones in Pcars 1. But of course, we're not playing this game just for sightseeing. Pcars 1 drives better, sounds better and has very good force feedback. I did have to tweak my G27 with help from a tutorial video though and some cars in Pcars 1 really need a bit of tweaking in the garage to make them drive better but it's true that they all feel unique and the ones in Pcars 2 are mostly the same. I remember the developers received a lot of hate for Pcars 1 because it wasn't very driveable with a gamepad and they "fixed" that in Pcars 2. Maybe that's why it all feels bland in that game. I will keep Pcars 1 installed on my PC and have removed Pcars 2 because it doesn't add much extra but makes good things worse.

In fact, pc2 is better than pc3 and pc1 is better than pc2.

First project cars game is much better then 2..3rd just got worse..2 is ott and ran in effect is ott and so many bugs.( over the top )..am trading it for pc1..peace out

I've never actually tried any of the Project Cars games. I see there is 1, 2, & 3. PC keys for PC1 can be had for pretty cheap, whereas PC2 is quite a bit more pricey, and then PC3 is also fairly cheap. Do you think PC2 is worth the price vs the other two games or is PC1 or PC3 better in your opinion? I wanted to try the series out but was a bit curious why PC2 is significantly more expensive? Is it the best version or something or maybe because it was delisted fairly recently?

Gameplay project cars 2 all day and still isnt known in the community as a true sim game but it is known for being a big improvement over project cars 1 J think you have a soft spot for the pcars1 and liked it so your feeling something you like the mind is a very powerful thing when I play pc2 the ffb is strong very very detailed on my csw v2.5 its pretty amazing and alot of people say that but just remember we all like something different and its subjective

I finally bought a PS5 recently and a bunch of my PS4 games (my PS4 console died about a year ago) were sitting there in my library waiting for me so I decided to D/L a few. I hadn't played PCars (yes, the first one) in ages and had completely forgotten about how crazy customizable it is! Once you get the controller settings sorted (no wheel here) it drives very well and it has some features the GT games don't give you such as a couple of nice long "coast road" point to point courses to drive. Actually, it has a fantastic track list full stop! It also gives you some awesome historic cars like the 60s F1 cars. I set up a test day at Laguna Seca at dawn driving one of the prototypes and the visuals were really pretty! On top of that, the in car driving experience is far more visceral and I think convincing than most other driving games I've got. It was super fun and thrilling to drive. Plus, it seems the time trial leader boards are still active (or at least available) unlike many other older games so you can still try and work your way up the ladder...

I agree with you almost everytime, this time is no different, but.... there is one thing that I don't agree: Imho Pcars 1 has better graphics than Pcars 2, Pcars 1 graphics have more details, lights that work properly (including during the day), better shadows and is much lighter. As you said, Pcars 2 is not a bad game, but it lost to its predecessor. Cheers :) PS.: I am talking about the PC version.

Hi, I agree. On my humble pc amd ryzen 5 2600 and gtx1660ti. Pc1 looks much better than Pc2. I must admit that i cannot put pc2 on full graphics setting otherwise i have low fps. But even then imho Pc 1 looks better. And maybe you do not know but there are a few gt3 (and other categories) add on cars available for pc1 and a little program to specify what cars you want on track. In this way you can make a sort of WEC grid to race against. Only the dark virtual mirrors at night are a minus.

You are very right. I assumed Project Cars 2 is better, so since, I haven't played Project Cars 1, but I am going to reinstall it, at least just for the Aerial Atoms!

In PCars 2 the tire model was "overworked", for lack of better word. The tires became way too soft and squishy and that's why cars lost their "feel" and in fact most of them started behaving really weird. And that's why nobody liked PC2.

I'd usually attribute this to placebo, but I've seen how much worse PC3 than PC2 is, so I am not at all surprised here.

This happened with Crysis 2, the original Crysis (and Crysis Warhead) were stunning and fun, Crysis 2 came along and it was terrible, bulky, slow, linear, not fun. Developers need to understand why a game is popular and not meddle with it. As for your video, I agree in some points, the graphics in PC2 are way better. You mention the menus and user interface not being designed for pc, lol, if they were designed for console then someone did a really shitty job. The HUD layout feature is a joke, ideal for pc users with a mouse but not for gamepad controllers/wheels on consoles. Might check out PC1 as just got a g29 wheel and yeh the FFB is nuts to nail on settings wise, it's either got no feel or too much feel, the knocking is nuts, ideally the wheel needs to feel weighted but it knocks so much if you turn the weight up.

I think they went overboard with the puddle physics sometimes it’s impossible to drive the car but the AI has no issues , so frustrating!

I was thinking in buy the pCARS2 and I think don't will hahaha, but honestly the only thing that attracts me more in that game is the better constructed menu and the possibility to choose specific classes for the IA on a weekend (im not shure that feature really exists on the pc2)

if you wanted to try something similar but updated, try AMS 2. It is still a work in progress and not perfect but it is basically already what PC2 should have been! It also uses the madness engine so the same graphic design, colors, etc but physics are much better than PC2.

What is just better simulator, pc1 or ps2? I dont care about graphic or sound just simulation and physic.

I have not played any and i am going Buy Project Cars 1 it sort of looks better than 3 :)

First. Thanks for the video. Spot on! I watched the video, jumped into my rig and installed PC. You are 100% correct. PC is better then PC2. Physics, ffb and sound is better.

I am starting in sim racing world, and I do not understand why project cars 1 FFB is so expresive compared to asetto corsa competizione.. Maybe now I would start to understand..

ACC‘s FFB is literally shit compared to other Sim Titles , it’s the ONLY thing I dislike about it . I launch The original Assetto and the FFB i get from that game is 3 times better . They really need to figure this out .

Definitely not imo. There are things I prefer in PC1 - ie graphics are probably a bit nicer on monitor, the ability to really fiddle with FFB in detail, FFB file per car, I miss the Ariel Atom and the F3 (PC2 F3 imo is meh), I pefer the rain graphics in PC1 in VR, AI although lunatics move much more believably - the PC2 AI "wiggle" kinda sucks and the really slow first lap is also kinda disappointing. Also the on PC2 FFB heaviness on braking is way too much - non DD wheels would have to turn down FFB just to not clip during that. However PC2 has much better over the limit physics, UI is better, VR implementation and graphics overall is notably better (although trees at for instance Oulton Park ahve ridiculously big leaves), the sheer scale of dynamic track/conditions is better, the new tracks are generally fantastic (Long Beach, Fuji, Daytona, Sugo, Portugal, Le Mans historic), I would miss so many cars in PC2 (LMP1 2016, new LMP2, LMP3, A bunch of Ferraris and Porsches, the Panoz and a bunch more). Overall Im happy to stick with PC2 over PC1 but I agree there are pros and cons to both compared to eachother.

Absolutely agreed on PCars 1 vs 2, feel very same way. Another example would be Automobilista 1 vs 2, ironically second one uses PCars 2 engine, first one I think uses RFactor engine. As of today, years and years after release, they made huge progress on AMS2, but still at some level AMS 1 just feels more natural and direct. And just for the fun, try comparing WRC 7 vs WRC Generations. IDK how is that possible, but yeah, car physics makes a lot more sense in WRC 7, in WRCG it somehow manages to be twitchy and floaty the same time. And even the immersion part, visuals, feeling, I much rather prefer WRC7 over WRCG. So I guess it's far from normal or logical, but it happens.

Okay I'm back, as long as you go into the advanced FFB and set it to 'Classic' instead of 'Default' the FFB is actually SOOOOOO much better than pCARS2 wtf. For some reason Default has Steering Gain set to 3.0, which is basically 300% FFB and just gives you a heavy wheel!!?! WTF why was it shipped like this? I'm currently driving the AMG GT3 around Donington and its fucking great! What the hell SMS? I was a noob was pCARS came out, felt the horrible clipping FFB and switched to Assetto Corsa where its set to 100% by default. Again for a noob it ruins the experience, it should be set to Classic by default, it feels fantastic.

Ive played pc1 with a controller, it was not good. But i might try it again with my new wheel!

With controller is oke but you have to put some assist on, still difficult but it is fun.

Check out Assetto Corsa i wont say its the best Sim out there , because there are no sims in my opinion , im a car driver and none of it is like driving a car of course so its a game , but as far as feeling goes , i judge things by control difficulty , i had a wheel but now i use X box gamepad , and when i play Project Cars , i can drive 300HP cars with no assists , while in Assetto corsa i cant drive 200HP cars , it slides a lot more , steering lock due to braking a lot more , hader to keep cars full throttle , harder to brake , everything needs more precise inputs , and if you are a sim racer that is what you will like , in Project cars i drive laps within 50ms , then i try AC , and first bend i lock out and drift out in to sand . Of course this is all due to Tire model , there is Aerodynamics as well if you drive a fast car on a fast track and you can feel it in AC , no in Project Cars . So that is why i play Project Cars , because i can with a gamepad , Assetto corsa only up to 200HP and even that i have to lower the difficulty and turn on TC, ABS and so on .

I played Pcars 2 and Fornula Renault yesterday. And it felt terrible, strange. .... I almost thought I couldn't drive anymore. But it was the same with Pcars 1. Both are so bad compared to AC, rFactor 2 and Automobilista...

yeah neither one is a good as those but there are certain cars that are decent. Their formula cars are pretty bad. Try gt3/GT4 or some of the classic cars like group 5. They are pretty fun.

Finally someone agrees with me

Once you sort out the horrible base setups, you find out that PCars 1 has a much better tyre slip angle simulation without being super punishing. The Renault Clio Cup UK lives in my heart.

Pc1s ffb is ten times better. I play it on Xbox so I don't have access to any ffb mods. As you said when you compare cars Back to back pc2s ffb feels nunmb and detached.

I kept hearing 1 was better when I owned 1 I didn't have a ffb wheeling had a shit 458 spider and a controller... played pc2 whith wheel and was impresses... until I tried other sims cassette cords 1 n 2... even forza 7 felt better then pc2... so I recently reinstalled it... and man... am I blown away at how magnificent this games was and still is

After watching this video i installed project cars 1 after long long time and WOW! The physics is much better. Force feed back is also better then in Project cars 2. Also it feels like cars have way more grip. Engine sounds are much much better too! That’s crazy how worse project cars 2 is!

I bought PC2 and returned it dues to terrible graphics and physics. Bought PC1 instead. Physics is as good as assetto corsa or better. Good weight to the wheel.

Umm, No. I sold that PC2 piece of 💩 and got bought PC and never regretted. PC2 physics and replay below 30fps are garbage.

PC2 feels like the speed was reduced by 25% or so with the cars feeling like they're driving through mud or water. The sense of speed is better in PC1 and all the cars feel more powerful. With a steering wheel this is even more apparent whereas in PC2 the steering wheel forces feel weak.

Very good video Dan. I started Sim Racing about a year ago. So, I tried PCars2 and I didn't like it. Last night, at your suggestion, I bought and installed the original Pcars. I think the FFB and Physics is fantastic. Out of the box, the handling of the car is similar to rFactor2.

Project Cars 2 has better physics. Same as Dirt rally 2.0 has better physics and force feedback than WRC 8 has. Project cars and WRC 8 are arcade games. All the steering in project cars is done through a few degrees in the centre of steering. You barely need to move the wheel to counter oversteer. Its totally arcade. Project cars 2 and Dirt rally 2.0 are more realistic. Try doing a fast flowing stage at Finland in WRC 8. Physics are pure garbage. Its like driving an old milk float over the bumps and around the bends. And the feedback doesn't tell you when the rear end of the car is sliding out so you end up spinning out.

Interesting point, especially now that AMS2 is about to come out and switching from ISI Motor to the Madness engine used by PC2. I'm afraid the same will happen and AMS1 ends up feeling better than AMS2. Reiza assures the problem isn't so much the physics engine but the physics data used in all those PC2 cars. I guess we'll have to wait and see. However, watching a comparison video between AMS1 and AMS2 beta from Reiza themselves, I could already visually see that lack of liveliness you mention here and which is also present in AMS1: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X3WLtI9qc93UYKw.html

PC1 is a better driving experience. Yes it's lively but even more satisfying to get right. PC2 is such a sanitised experience. Really disappointing. The difference between the Go-Karts in each game is massive. In PC 1 they are amazing in PC 2 a joke.

I know this is years later, but it's odd how everyone else hated PC1 and universally agreed PC2 was better. Even the FFB, you mention people using Jackspade's FFB for PC2... which wasn't true. His FFB was far more popular in PC1. Anyone running 2 is using PopsRacers, which is really good. PC1's system and tuning menu options were so confusing the devs either didn't know how it worked or how to explain it. Someone did eventually make a program that showed what the settings did and it wasn't as complicated, but you'd never find good settings without it. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say good luck finding that program again since it was probably on the forum that's been absorbed into EA. Then again, both games are also removed from sale now.

Oh wow I didn't even realize they had pulled the games. I thought you could still grab them on steam for pretty cheap. I really wish once a game was available it would just stay available. That's a big issue with everything going digital now unfortunately.

@@DanDiMaggio Most likely licensing issues. Though I just tried PC1, and I gotta say, hard disagree with it being better than PC2. I'm using a CSL DD and PC1 is constant clipping unless I turn the forces WAY low. I only tried the Lancer, Caterhams, and Lotus 49 around Laguna Seca, and while the lancer was... alright, but quite light after turning down forces, the caterham was almost nothing and the Lotus has a weird tendency to "flip" between FFB being on or off. I even tried Jack Spades FFB files which just made it very bumpy and accentuated a weird rumble in the wheel mid corner, like the tire was skipping along. I'm firmly sticking with PC2.

Agreed on the car sounds anf ffb but physics model in pcars 2 is more dynamic, less predictable and feels more realistic. Plenty of room for improvement though

I will buy pCars2 on PC, deluxe edition goes as low as 15$. But pCars1 on console was a disappointment for me (base PS4). I played one of the beta builds (at friends place, average PC, old logitech DFP) and I saw the potential. When I finally got the game, T300RS. the fact that out of the box car setup did not felt right and to me default FFB was mostly miss (I did not got the feeling or curbs, or loosing traction, also some cars had bigger problems with the weight transfer than others). So searching settings on forums, and sure for PC I assume it is as easy as downloading number of files and choosing one, on PS4 manually change the physics of the car, tune the FFB test, rinse repeat. This was taking time, and than you change the car and do it all over again. Sure I get there are tunes for cars like tires, breaks, gearing and such - but to have to set up the game physics F: z,y,x Mz that was a bit too much. Later on i bought Assetto Corsa - and here OMG! installed the game, calibrated the wheel, jump to a car picked up a track. Did some minor corrections in FFB setup. It felt like driving the car in terms of both physics and FFB. This is why I got so high hopes for improved way of setting up cars and FFB in pCars2. Why I did not buy the game? Well I'm not a hardcore sim racer. I just like to have the nice feeling of driving a car on a track that suits me (more than 600h in GT5). And I was playing pCARS1 and Assetto Corsa from time to time with my wheel. Just to have fun of driving different cars. I guess I will have to buy pCARS2 and try it. with my PC it will be at most medium settings, but well better this and locked frame rate or even reducing some settings a bit or dropping resolution a bit, than a console experience. Especially with ease of replacing the custom files for FFB/Physics.

PC2 is garbage when it comes to graphics refresh rate. Especially replay. Sold that sucker back at GameStop.

Scary to think I am coming to this video due to how bad gt7 and forza is more like Wreckfest! Love pc2 but the new games have nothing on this. Assetto or acc or rfactor 2 I can’t comment but heard are up there

It is 2024 now. Well i like Project Cars 2 better. The graphics are so much better and I drive the game in VR. I only do some short AI races from time to time - select a track, vehicle, and go race. I have Project Cars 1, but never go to it, just does not interest me at all. These 2 Project cars games are no longer listed on STEAM. I have the newest Project Cars 3, but it is a joke. Does not even compare to the first two Project cars games. It is an Arcade racing game, no pits, driving physics are terrible, and graphics are no good. The vehicles in PC3 all drive like drifting cars. I purchased this game only for it has VR support and I got PC3 on a STEAM sale price. Bye!!!

As a console player I got pretty disappointed when Project Cars 2 came out. I thought console players would have the ultimate sim, with a lot of cars, tracks and dynamic weather conditions. Imo cars don't feel natural, the physics are weird, the ffb isn't good, you can't predict how the car is gonna react to your inputs, the kerbs don't feel natural. AC is the ultimate sim for consoles and I'm looking forward to ACC because I'm a huge fan of GT3 cars.
