Is Patrick Mahomes already a top 3 QB all-time? | NFL | SPEAK

Спорт

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes could become only the 5th QB to win 3 Super Bowls if he wins Super Bowl LVIII, and already has an impressive record. Emmanuel Acho, Joy Taylor, James Jones, and LeSean McCoy debate whether or not Patrick Mahomes is already a top-3 QB of all time.

He's already past Farve and Rodgers. He still has some ways to pass Peyton but it's almost certain he'll pass Manning. So yes basically He's already in the Elway, Manning tier. Aikman has 3 rings. Bradshaw and Montana with 4 rings. Then Brady.

There wasn’t anyone better at the line of scrimmage. His football IQ was second to none. Not to mentioned he bounced back from a neck injury that some thought was career ending just to throw for 50 tds and win a MVP. Put some respect on his name💯💯

Peyton Manning is CRIMINALLY OVERRATED. Barely .500 IN THE PLAYOFFS. He was the king of meaningless stat-padding. But when the playoffs came? He pooped his pants. Manning, first super bowl WIN (playoff stats): 3 tds, 7 ints, carried by defense and running game. Manning, second super bowl WIN: LOWEST PASSER RATING EVER by a Super Bowl winning QB. As for Manning's OVERRATED "football IQ," here's what Dan Koppen, the STARTING Center for BOTH Manning AND Brady said about Manning and Brady when it comes to "football IQ:" "I’m raising my hand to interject,” Koppen says. “One, Peyton Manning did not make the mike calls in the run game. I made the mike calls in the run game for Peyton. The quarterback here [in New England] does everything. “But it’s easier for the quarterback to do that. I’m not saying that the center can’t do it, but he [the quarterback] can see everybody, he can see the coverage, he can see the rotation, or late rotation, so if you give him that control whether it’s early in the snap count or late in the snap count, he has an option to get out of it and change it to what he wants. “What gets tricky for the linemen, and not everybody can do this throughout the league, not everybody’s smart or can play fast, it takes someone a few seconds, however you process information and get it ready to go before the ball’s snapped, to each their own, but he [Brady] does it very quickly. “It could be Mike 57, omaha, blue go, and your whole blocking thing just changed. And it’s not a communication standpoint where I can sit there and go, alright, now we’re sliding this guy, you got him, you guys stay here, it changes in a split second and the ball is gone. “[Offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia] always used to say, we don’t have to have the most athletic guys, we don’t have to have the most number one draft picks, we have to be athletic enough, work together, and be smart.” “And that’s why this offensive line you will continue to see them get better each week,” Mayo chimes in, “especially now with Tom at the helm, each and every week.” So there you have it. Brady’s in charge of all the protections prior to the snap, while Manning had his center do it for the run game."

Short answer yes. Long answer is Mahomes to me is arguably the most talented qb ever along with Rodgers who you could make a case for, while also being (up to this point) the best postseason qb ever statistically, he's number 1 in a ridiculous amount of postseason qb stats, which separates him from someone like a Manning imo because of his postseason struggles individually. Couple that with his accolades and rings he's won so far I think it's enough for top 3

Dang, can Mahomes finish his career first? He's still so young. Montana is my goat. The dude was unflappable under pressure. No ints or losses during his Super Bowl runs. Montana played in an era when they beat up the quarterback. Plus one more thing: the 80's NFC competition was fierce! Lt's Giants, Joe Gibbs Redskins, the Bears all produced dominate competitive teams. I respect Brady for the sheer longevity but for me, Montana was the man. In time maybe Mahomes can do it but let the guy at least turn 30 first before we start to immortalize him? He's great but let it play out...

Finally someone gets it. These younger guys never seen Joe play. I remember those Monday Night games the Niners played against the Bears and Giants. They were low scoring defensive slugfests. I didn’t even mention those late 80’s Philly teams that would punch you in the mouth or those Dome Patrol Saints teams with the best linebacker tandem of Mills, Swilling and Jackson. To this day that is still the best linebacker corps I’ve ever seen. Brady couldn’t even get past Rex Ryan’s Jets teams when they had a formidable defense. There were numerous defenses like that in the NFC.

Ring culture in the NFL is so annoying dude. Literally the ultimate team sport where a QB only has control over 1/3 of the phases of the game. Yes rings and playoff performances are important but this aint basketball where its 5 on 5 and this aint some Michael Jordan thing. Thats how you get that absolutely ignorant Peyton Manning disrespect. Who when he retired was the all time statistical leader in every QB stat worth anything a 5 time MVP and was 3-2 vs Brady in the playoffs. Its only after Manning retired that Brady really sepereated himself. And credit to him. As for Mahomes hes the best talent ive ever seen and hes coming but pump the brakes.

As a huge Peyton fan, he is in the top 3 for me. Brady, mahomes, manning, and then Montana. Had maybe his best year AFTER the neck surgery. And 5 mvps is huge too.

I swear popularity and clout now days is like that rock in the 80’s. Y’all can’t put him in the top 3 just because of talent or potential ceiling. The disrespect to Peyton, Brees, Rodgers or even Big Ben with the same number or super bowls and more stats. Yeah if he “Keeps” playing for a long period of time yeah he will pass almost everyone and maybe Brady but be real he haven’t even hit 40k passing yards yet let alone 400 TD’s y’all just throwing all them legendary QB’s careers away💯 and they played in a harder generation with better defenses like be real

No it’s not, the difference is Mahomes is not letting these guys win. Peyton was always considered better than Brees, Brady, Big Ben, an older Favre, and Rivers…it actually wasn’t even close for all of the 00s. He just didn’t win and a lot of those guys beat him. Mahomes is far and away the best and he’s winning.

The question really comes down to do you put him over Peyton Manning ? We know 1 and 2, but the question really is would you put him over Peyton Manning ? If you do, yes, he's Top3. If you don't, then no

@@bcamm3100heck think about the times Peyton should’ve gone much further with a little help from his team. 2005: Harper grabs that fumble and runs down the sideline Colts move on likely win SB 2007: Peyton played well, Harrison first game back and fumbles untouched in the redzone & Keith doesn’t catch a short pass at goaline and tips it in the air. With LT & Rivers on the bench Chargers still go 80 yrds to take lead at the end. 2008: Peyton has late 4th qtr lead. Sproles goes down the field to tie then chargers get ball first in OT and do it again. 2009: Saints couldn’t get Offense going until after Freeney left. Garçon dropped a wide open perfect pass that likely is a TD and go up 17-3, onside kick turnover, missed FG. Even if manning tied it at the end colts couldn’t stop Saints offense in 2nd half and there was still too much time left. 2010: Peyton takes last min lead. ST allows big return. Then Caldwell helps jets by calling a TO and they get even closer for an easier FG. 2012: we all remember Flacco with 40 secs throwing to Jacoby who was double covered and still scored.

While I agree with the rest of the Panel(and I love Peyton), he did have the playoff record against Brady. He was the most cerebral QB of all time. But he got tight in the biggest moments, which is something Tom, Joe, and Pat don’t do…

Peyton’s highest peak was still above Mahomes. 55 tds 5500 yards with one less game. Until Mahomes does that, and wins 3 more mvps, you can’t put him above Peyton. And the 4 sbs with 4 coaches stat is wild. You can also argue Peyton played in a tougher conference. Tom Brady, Big Ben, Flacco and the ravens defense, and Philip rivers. Then in the nfc you had Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Eli manning
