Is ONE Planner Enough?

picking one planner is hard enough.. but what if you are someone who wants/needs multiple notebooks?
I always thought I would be someone that kept everything in one book (hobonichi cousin), however I recently added a hobonichi weeks to my lineup and it has been so helpful to my overall productivity, consistency, and joy of planning. This video shows what method I used when trying to determine how many planners I wanted for my 2024 lineup.
I would love to know how many planners you have for your 2024 setup!

Nice! I'm in 3 books for 2024 (same as 2023) - a traditional no-decorating bullet journal for task management, scheduling, project-management etc, a daily pages journal for long-form brain-dump/memory-keeping and a commonplace book for keeping references of things I'm reading and studying (I'm not in school, I just study for fun). The bullet journal and the daily pages journal live together in the same cover so it feels like one book, even though it really isn't.

I love this! Super helpful to see it all laid out. I also find it helpful to think in timeframes - i.e. all forward/future planning in my SI compact weeks, all reflection/memory keeping in my blank moleskin. Still working out the kinks on this for 2024, but going to try it out. Interested to see how it goes bc when looking at the pros you wrote, the one book section called to me 😂😅

I feel like I've found someone who just... gets it. So thank you for all of this wonderful content! I'm looking forward to more of your videos. :) Especially since I am also in a weeks and a cousin for next year (although my purposes for them are flipped: academics and personal in my cousin, work and leftover personal notes in my weeks).

I am using the hobo weeks for the first time after year of Bullet journaling (tired of doing spreads that the best I like are like the HW). I used to have leuchtturms for any kind of journaling or commonplacing, but because of being tired of the system (and too many journals per year), I bought a Cousin for the daily journaling, wellness planner and a midori commonplace book. I used to like a lot for several years my previous system, but got so tired of it this year. the desire to find a new way of consistency makes me wanna use the hobonichi

This honestly has been my struggle this year. Do I use one? Do I use multiple? I have love and use my Avec Cousin. It really is my brain on paper. But I like to use stickers, make it fun, functional, journal, and plan. All of it. I have a lot on my plate: I am a wife, I am a mom, I work full time, I go to school full time, and I am trying to lose weight, so I have my fitness, weight, food log, etc. I am gearing up for the next phase in my life as a teacher (I was a SAHM for 20 years and at almost 50 am going to teach Special Education) as I finish school, plan for student teaching, and a career along with being a wife and mom. I love my Cousin because it allows me to plan it all out. Everything. I write my tasks each day, plan my week in the weekly, the monthly allows me to track everything I have going on. I love the one-book system. That being said, I don't always love carting all of that to work with me. My journaling, the stickers, my thoughts, and my weight in my book don't always feel like the professional option. When I bring out my planner, do I want to show off all of the sticker bulk and risk someone reading my journaling (not that I have much going on; I am a boring person, but they are still my thoughts, and I don't necessarily want people reading them)? I found a lot of value in this video and your pie 5 video and have decided to go forward with the Avec, my supplemental book that accompanies my Avec, and to use the Weeks as an EDC type of book that I can throw things in and take on the go. I have enjoyed your channel and look forward to more! 🙂

Thank you SO SO much for sharing! I feel so similarly to you, I LOVE my cousin and I love the idea of an all-in-one notebook, but you are right, sometimes it is not the most practical thing! I am so glad these videos were able to offer you some value. You will definitely have to let me know how your Avec works out for you this year!

Hi -I've been watching a ton of planning videos over the past month as I decided which new planner and planning systems to use as well as to get ideas for - everything, and I found your video to be helpful and one of my favorites for a number of reasons. 1) It was short - less than 15 minutes long. This is a big bonus because I tend to scan for videos that are 20 minutes or less and only devote more time to channels that I am already a fan of - which is one of the reasons that I decided to watch your video because it was short. 2) I have seen a lot of videos about how to plan but not many about why to have one or multiple planners. Initially, I thought people with multiple planners were crazy, but after watching about 30 of these videos, I can see the allure of multiple planners, and I'm going to use two myself for 2024 - and your video helped me establish that decision when I was waffling and couldn't decide. 3) I like your honesty and non-perfect approach. A lot of content creators that focus on planning and journaling are a bit stuck on the "perfection" wheel and can be a bit intimidating, patronizing, and irritating in their self-satisfaction with their planning abilities. Granted some of them are very creative and talented, but I wish they weren't quite so full of themselves. Your more humble, down-to-earth and logical approach was very appealing to me, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your content. I'm not sure what else you have out there as far as videos go, but I like just watching someone plan or set up planners as well as ideas for journaling and favorite supplies, pens, stickers, etc. I'm not very artistic myself but I admire people who are, and even though I tend not to decorate my planners and journals much, I enjoy seeing what other people do with their planners and journals. Sorry, this is so long, but you did ask for some feedback. I wish you well and Happy New Year!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to give this feedback! This is super helpful for me and I am so glad that you were able to find some value in this video. I never thought I would be a multiple planner person myself so this was definitely not something I pictured myself talking about. I'm so glad that you find this video down-to-earth, that is something that is super important to me so that is very reassuring to hear. I hope you are able to find more value on the channel, you will have to let me know how your 2 books work out for you! Thanks so much for being here
