    RSZ may have low string to string friction and the snap back may add spin depending on the tension and providing you swing fast enough to displace the mains for snapback effect. But you also need to account for string to ball friction as it influences both the amount of lateral string movement and the torque the snap-back exerts on the ball

    Thank you! I think some of the comments are joking haha but at first I didn't consider that. Hmm hard to say if it's softer. It might be close. The thing is the gauge measurement is slightly different and zero is slightly more thick. I think it's pretty close. However, the snapback is so good that if you really brush the ball I think the effect almost seems to bring softness since the strings move with the ball more easily whereas others there's so much friction.

    Snap back is also very important to me as I like the consistency it provides and not losing spin potential, my preference is Head Lynx Tour as the strings snap back into place even after 10h of play. Looking at the string comparison tool from tennis warehouse Head Lynx Tour has one of the lowest string to string friction coefficients. 20% Less than Hyper G and on par with Yonex Poly Tour Rev I will test the ReString Zero when I have the opportunity.

    I’m using vcire 95 but tried a Solinco blackout and got a used one in great condition. Two different rackets but want to see which one is better for my topspin game both forehand and topspin. And. One of the strings I will try with these rackets is Restring Zeto. Maybe string at 47. Though I’m not sure if that tension would be good for the more powerful Blackout. But the Blackout is stiff so going to high in tension would not be good.

  • @time410s

    @time410s

    That's always a funny dilemma with those 16x19 stiffer racket string patterns. You want a string high to get the control but you also don't want to make the racket painful or uncomfortable or too boardy feeling. You might like the lower tension on the blackout anyway. I find Zero to play and feel its best on the lower side. I generally string it mid 30s to mid 40s but keep in mind my string patterns are a little more dense than some or average probably.

If you haven't tried, stringing a little lower can go a long ways but also a thinner gauge even more. In the crosses a thin poly might be nice and definitely more comfortable but if you know that's not going to work for you I totally understand. I've also found the tension to drop more than I'm used to with zero. So maybe tension maintenance is still a lot better on zero as well.

  • @Maiqel
    @Maiqel Жыл бұрын

    I think snapback happens optimally at high tensions (for polys, somewhere 50-55), but of course you need to hit big. That's why for most polys (specially shaped/rough ones, spin-oriented) to bend it with the fingers slightly can be misleading. I tend to do those"checks" too, but found that if you release the string as you would a bow's (and pulling hard), snapback is more efficient. That said, lot of players (and particularly recreational ones) prefer polys at lower tensions, so I think in that in that sense Zero could make a great difference allowing players to access snapback-enhanced spin with tensions well under 50 and without needing to hit like Nadal. Dying to try it.

  • @time410s

    @time410s

    Жыл бұрын

    I think I follow what you mean. That being said, regardless of tension, I find ZERO to outperform the rest. Poly's are often strung at that mid 50 tension and I never find them to snapback anywhere near as nice as zero. They always line up out of place eventually whereas ZERO never does. The little snapback demo is just one piece of strong evidence but the fact the strings stay in that position for so long throughout the lifespan of the string is the true reveal. However. you can't just show that in a video. It would take a while and people would need to believe you didn't move the strings back into pefect position. I do hope you try! I think you will find it generates more spin, whatever the tension you end up liking it at. For the record, I go low to mid 50's with most other polys of the same gauge but this one feels a little better here. Just strung my SHIFT 315 and EZONE 98 at 49lbs. Will see how this feels soon.

    @@time410s I'm one of the guys always asking when will it be available in Europe 😅. I think yesterday I even tried to simulate an order from their website to se how much would be the shipping, but my country (Spain) didn't even appeared in the otherwise pretty long list (though France and UK did). Didn't feel like looking for a valid address in France to at least get the approximate shipping because I guess even if it's reasonable the customs fee would make it just not worth it, so I'll guess I'll wait till it's sold in TW-Europe or something. Regarding the snapback, I think that yes, if you're getting out of place strings due to normal play, you can definitely say snapback is not being 100% efficient (you may still be getting some of course). And from what I saw of you playing I'd say that you actually hit pretty big, and the fact that you brake polys quite fast is a good tell-tale that you are definitely accessing topspin and sawing the strings often, as you explained in the vid. Anyway a string with a higher slippage will both bend slightly further for a given force or strain and also recover faster for a given tension I guess, so yes, it will anyway always have greater snapback and hence topspin. And of course the ultimate proof is that you actually noticed greater topspin playing with it! I'm curious tho that other reviews I saw of the string actually generally praise it but either don't mention anything regarding spin or qualify it as average (for a shaped poly), even tho you can see that in their playtest lots of big drives with decent net clearance were landing very close to the service line and such.

  • @time410s

    @time410s

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you! I am excited for Europe availablity but it is always complicated expanding outside of your area, overseas (logistically) and still keeping things priced fairly for you and the customers. They are definitely working on it though. As for what you say about topspin, I think we agree on why and how much of a difference it makes. I haven't seen other reviews, actually. However, not to toot my own horn too much but it's extremely rare I find anyone hitting with as much topspin as I do. So the level to which I might appreciate this difference is probably greater than most, just due to how I hit the ball. But I'm also very focused on this detail of the string and that combination of players who also have a review channel might mean I'm the only one lol. So I try to make it obvious by showing the snapback because that is something everyone can observe. And if I can, in some future footage, I will try to show how much shape I can put on the ball when going for my most loopy and heavy shots. What would really blow me away and upset me if if TW sells this string someday and rates it's spin potential as less than other strings at the top of the list because that might affect how people think of it since TW is such an authority on tennis but for me, it would discredit how they measure spin potential in a string entirely because there's no way that rpm blast or quadrotwist etc has anywhere near as much.

  • @time410s

    @time410s

    Жыл бұрын

    This is a thoughtful question and I actually plan to dig into this a little deeper in a future video because it's so next level, this snapback, that is does change how the ball feels on contact. Definitely not more harsh. It's really the feeling of the strings cooperating with the ball better. It more easily slides across the stringbed instead of having to overcome all this friction to get that snapback on a typical poly. I find that result to be more comfortable. But it's not so much about the impact as it is the way the strings catch the ball. Know what I mean? The more sharp your angle, the more you may feel this affect. If you hit flat and through the ball, you won't notice it as much.

    Nice! I used to do that as well but not anymore after measuring tension on crosses and mains of a bed that was done at even tension. The result is always that the cross has 7 or so less pounds because it has to pull through all the mains. So I was like "oh so it's already kinda doing that" and haven't since. But with zero it might be worth doing especially since friction is so low.

    Alright. I bought the string, strung my head extreme tour 2022 at 53 lb and played with it for two games against a pusher and a big hitter. In the first game, against the pusher the string performed excellent offering me great control and excellent spin. I lacked some power in my first serve, but on my kick serve felt like I couldn’t miss. Overall, I enjoyed it in that game although I missed the power in my first serve. I didn’t have the same experience against the big hitter tho. The string felt very dead and I struggled to generate depth on my shots. The lack of ball pocketing was more perceivable at a faster pace and my cross court forehand was lacking spin and pace as the ball felt like it took immediately after impacting the racket which prevented me from pocketing it and sending back with heavy spin. My first serves were better (I guess because tension had dropped a few pounds) and my seconds serves continue being as good as the first day. Overall I give restring zero a 9/10. It’s almost perfect and a possible switch for me but not right now. I have to try it again at 48-50 lb to see if the ball pocketing improves as well as the speed of my first serves. For now I’ll stay with my trusty Solinco confidential in the main and my string of choice the Tecnifibre Blackcode in the crosses. Take my opinion with a grain of salt, as I’m only a 4.5 recreational player but as you I’ve tried pretty much every string in the market and I also string my own rackets. My string of choice is the Tecnifibre Blackcode 1.24 but in recent times I started using confidential in the main to add more control and counter the quick loss of string tension of the tecnifibre Blackcode.

    Very cool thanks for trying! I always suggest going a few pounds lower. It might be a little stiffer then some strings but it's also so slippery that the tension pulls with less resistance and I think ends up a little higher than a regular string would be since there's less friction to overcome. So I always suggest going lower by a few lbs maybe even 5. Hopefully you can dial in the tension and feel the magic for yourself but I'm glad you at least felt some of the potential!

    Yes that's definitely something I think people overlook. Sometimes you change the physics of a string or how ages just based on the tension you pull it up. It's not like you always need to pull more attention to compensate for how much it will lose. It might lose a lot less much less quickly at lower tensions. It takes a while to properly get to know a string. I strung my PA98 with zero means and wasabi crosses. 41lbs all around, I think. Crazy enough, I could still go a little lower. There isn't necessarily a linear relationship to the tension at which you pull a string and the tension it feels like it is at. It really depends on the string.

Should at least be close since you're going down a whole gauge. Why do you use 16? I used to for durability. But with zero it's completely unnecessary. They last plenty long with 17.

  • @time410s

    sure thing! I prefer 17g. It just feels better, whenever compared to the same string in a thicker version. It's much less stiff and translates those feel-oriented vibrations to the racket better. The thicker strings absorb that a bit. It pockets the ball better, and in a stringbed so dense, it is noticeably lighter and slightly more aerodynamic but you might feel this in a 16x19 as well. The main upside of 16 is durability and "control" but durability on zero is already so crazy good, you don't need to go to 16 to get more. And I put control in quotes because I really just mean it's more dead. But as for zero, I can't suggest 17g enough. It's the way to go. String it a couple lbs or more lower than whatever your reference poly is.

I've tested in so many frames and find that makes a huge difference sometimes. I finally tried. Tried it right away during a match with a friend and felt it had more power and had probably more spin. Weirdly, I noticed i was hitting it out more so maybe i wasn't used to the power. I did strung it at 48 as opposed to 51 on my other setup but which has like close to 10 hours on it already. I switched back to my usual hyper G soft main and Ghostwire cross and finished the match with it as I was more consistent with it. I did a session with ball machine the next day and that's when i really felt the difference because of the hundreds of balls i was hitting no stop . Restring zero felt much stiffer although it's supposedly at a lower tension. I guess you could say my hybrid setup is mushy but i actually like mushy as I feel the ball stays in the stringbed longer and i was able to hitting for longer without my arms getting as tired. I will have to hit with restring zero more it matches but for practice when I'm taking less breaks and doing longer rallies, i still like hyper G soft and Ghostwire.

  • @time410s

    As 2 different strings go, many say certain things about how they feel are quite similar and Confidential was somewhat of a reference string in the design phases and stages of Zero. I think Confidential might have more bite (initially) which does help spin in some ways but I think bite matters more at lower speeds. At higher speeds, there is so much force on the ball and strings together that the friction is enough to be roughly the same. That being said, Zero still bites and has WAY more snapback. I think the spin potential is very similar but quickly, overtime, Zero would outperform Confidential. The snapback keeps Zero alive in your stringbed much longer. I will break confidential in a few hitting sessions so like 2-3 days. Zero might last me close to 2 weeks under the same stresses and actually play better the entire time, by my standards.

    I love ReString Zero - it’s my go to string now, but I will put a plug in for Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable and Weiss Cannon Blue Rock ‘n Power - both are super sharp square shaped and really really nice snap back. Not sure it’s quite as snap back-y as RSZ but the aggressive shape really is tops in high string-on-ball friction (vs. RSZ’s main weapon which is low string-on-string friction), at least til it gets worn down. But the snap back for that string is no joke. Shorter life, but try it for max topspin!

    @@time410s ultra cable is amazing. Doesn’t last as long as RSZ but I think it feels softer than RSZ so if you got a high RA racquet, it’s a great choice. Blue Rock n Power feels stiffer to me than Ultra Cable, but the hybrid version gives you a round cross for lower friction.

    @@time410s Blue Rock n Power comes two versions. The regular and the hybrid. The regular is just a set of ultra sharp shaped string. The hybrid has half for the mains (sharp) and half for the crosses (round version of the same string). It’s great!

    This is a while ago in case the timeline didn't get seen. Toroline dropped the ball many times during these days but recently have been much better as a company. I always liked their string but for a time the company was sketchy. Now, it's solid. If I can't get behind the brand or company, I can't send people their way.

    Better tension maintenance. More crisp. I string wasabi a bit higher. Snapback really good on both! They are the only ones to rival one another as far as I'm concerned.

    This has the least top spin potential I’ve ever had in a string, sure it’s doable but just not the best, flatter hits are better, but other than that, it’s really not that good, I personally think Grapplesnake Tour m8 is better and SnapBack is really just overrated compared to what TourM8 has in spin

    Mate really sorry but I played with strings that did not have to touch for its entire life of 12-15 hours even once and when I had to cut them off there wasn't a single string out of place at 48 lbs like kirschbaum supersmash but snapback isn't eveything!!!

    Absolutely. I try to prove that in my videos by pulling the strings out of place to reveal that. If you pull the crosses out like I did do they snap back like that? Zero will but others don't.

    It does help! It also helps massively with durability because there's reduced friction and if you hit with a lot of spin and break fast, these will last a lot longer and honestly it's lasted me longer than anything like a normal poly would. By like twice or three times as much. It's crazy.
