Is My 2007 Chevy Suburban Junk or a Gem?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Let's take a look at this 2007 Chevy Suburban I just picked up. Do you think it is a piece of junk or did I get a decent deal on it?

Just bought the identical 2008. Even the same color combination. No sunroof, but otherwise the very same car. Thank you for sharing. Even the same cracks on the console. LOL. Keep the shiny side up.

Definitely a Gem 💎! You done good . I can’t believe the dash lights and tire sensors aren’t on , this thing was built on a Wednesday or Thursday!! That 5.3 as long as it’s never been overheated and had oil changes , and you continue, it will outlast 3 bodies up there in the north . Also congrats ,, you’re getting close to 25K subscribers 👍👏👏

The oil leak is coming from the block off plate gasket for the optional oil cooler right above the oil filter; simple fix while doing an oil change.

Just bought a 2007 Suburban LT myself only 2 days ago and so far very happy. Body is in great shape with 300k miles and everything works well with Cold AC and Hot Heat but the motor and transmission were replaced with new crate components only 100k miles ago. Runs and shifts great with a very smooth ride. There are a couple things that feel a little loose but overall a really nice vehicle and especially for the price of $3500

@@SevenFortyOne My wife works less than a mile away so fuel shouldn't be a big factor for us presently. We can use it for big projects that happen to come by evey months or two. I like the fact that we'll have a strong enough vehicle for those unexpectedly emergencies where one has to evacuate their home on a moments notice during forest fires or really bad winter weather.

We had a 2007 Tahoe. Did not have any problems with it but when we traded for the 2010 Suburban we found that we got a mileage bump from 16 MPG to 20 MPG. Yes the 6 speed vs. the 4 speed made that much difference in mileage and the next Suburban a 2012 got 20 MPG also. Our 2017 Suburban gets 21 MPG. This is all spring, summer and fall diving. Our Minnesota winters take about 3 MPG away from you. We had a 2014 Ford Expedition EL that could only get 16 MPG. No more Fords.

Definently do the displacement on demand (DOD or AFM as it is called) DELETE! This is notoriously the Achilles heel for these 5.3s. My 2007 Avalanche nearly took out the entire engine at 160k miles. Luckily I just did the top end $1200 later in parts, but did opt up for a Summit stage 1 truck cam, made big difference and actually no difference in highway mileage, less downshifts on hills and no 4 cylinder mode. You can get a dongle that stays plugged into your ECU port or take it to a tuner to disable it either option is 100 -200 bucks. You probably get that dongle disabler for well under $100. I would stay up on that 4le65 transmission on filter and flushes at that mileage, esp if it was used for towing as yours likely was with that trailer module. Oh yeah, likely that your front hubs were replaced and your drive shaft u joints also, if not budget now for these. Most of the time these are toast well under 100k miles...., planned obsolescence anyone? Any LS engine sans the stupid DOD should outlast the body for sure. One more thing, check your spare tire lift, replace with the upgraded unit that doesn't have that stupid catch, also be aware of corrosion taking out your gas tank straps and also the fuel pump metal tubes located at the top of your tank. You can get pumps with stainless hardware, last forever, did I say planned obsolescence yet?

I called my Mechanic and asked him about that bc I had no idea it had AFM when I bought it. He said as long as you change the oil on time and do not go extended miles before change I should be ok. So that is what I do. Hopefully it won’t bite me In the ass

Hello. TY for the suburban review. I myself am a big fan of the Tahoe/Suburban. I currently have an 02 Tahoe that I've owned for many years with 238,000 miles on it and still runs strong. Honestly I was hoping to be able to keep it forever. But just like all of the cars in New England it is starting to surcome to the rust but i'm doing what I can to keep it going for as long I can but I know I'm going to have to replace it sometime in the near future. I was just wondering if you felt that the 5.3 liter in the 07 was just as good as the 5.3 in the older model like 2002? Do you feel that the 07 is just as comfortable as an 02? I was also wondering what you would consider to be a good or fair deal for an 07 with the same amount of miles and condition etc. as yours? I think some of these dealers are absolutely out of their minds with the prices. Oh and if you decide you're ready to sell yours at some point please feel free to reach out to me. I just might be interested in buying it. Thanks again for your informative videos.

I felt like my 04 Tahoe was a little more rugged than this suburban especially in the interior. Having said that, the suburban feels tighter on the road and had less rattles than my old Tahoe did. Both engines feel about the same on power but I'd rather have the old 04 without AFM.

Hi Steven, I just found your Chanel as I am contemplating in buying a high mileage 2007 Chevy Suburban LZT, Z71 package as I now have a large German Shepard. I’m just wondering after 1 year, besides the crazy gasoline price, are you still happy with the truck and how long you think the 2007 engine will last? The truck I am considering recently had the transmission replaced.
