the common brake upgrade on the S3 8L is to swap the front brake setup out for the Seat Leon Cupra R (LCR). So you end up with 4 pot Brembos with the disks being upgraded from 312mm to 323mm. Throw in a decent set of pads and all of a sudden the lardy S3 can stop quick

Now we need a follow up vlog with how much it cost to buy / insurance / stuff you have planned for it . I have fancied one of these for a while having owned the 8p S3 in the past and currently owning 19 plate S3 it would be nice to own a 8L at some point .

You can find that on euro Car Parts the bmc. I recommend the Bmc twin cone Air filter which works well for these.

K04 kicks in way sooner. Your turbo must be dying, bad wastegate, boost leak, vac leak etc. I had a Franken turbo F21 (hybrid K04) which made 260 hp with similar boost onset as a K04. Only problem is Franken turbo is garbage. The wastegate flapper broke off just after a year, with proper heat up and cool down procedures. A hybrid K04 is a really good option for street driving, stock engine.

More importantly, did you refit the side trim? Ha-ha! Don't forget to video all the work you do. I'd want to remove the air filter & see if it needs a clean as you might not need to replace immediatly. What fuel will you be using? do you go the v-Power type or just run of the mill RON. Anyway, best of luck with the project -have fun!

The turbo lag is not as bad as you describe it. Starts to fill at around 2400 rpm and reaches it's full boost at around 3100. I feel that some of your comments don't consider we are talking about a 20 year old model against an Audi RS3 lol You are just used to something too good mate.

Now this will sound daft but in 2005 the year i bought my Mk1 Seat Leon TDi FR it was the final year of the Mk1 & also the legendary Mk1 Cupra R Seat UK gave all drivers of the last of the R's & FR's in either Petrol or Diesel this fab Motorsport Package which amongst other things was a guess pass to a Track day. This was at Pro-Drives place in Warwickshire, i'll never forget it. we got to drive on skid pan in the wet & drive the Cupra-R with a Touring Car driver instruct us & they also took us for a Fast Lap... yes it was FAST. but the main point was when i drove it the first thing i noticed & mentioned was THE TURBO LAG & all these Revs Bearing in mind i had the TDI & had never driven a 200hp plus Petrol Car ever. I said to the Touring Car Driver. Luke Hines iam sure was his name, anyone know what ever happened to him? Jason Plato was there also. anyways i said id rather be back in my Diesel its not as flat from the get go to 70mph for instant. Daniel if you have never been in one Audi/VW/Seats 150hp TDI engineds Cars esp the Leon try n just get a go in one & you will see what i mean straight away. Am not knocking your S3 or any of the petrols esp your RS3 now thats a top drawer petrol powerhouse. but they really did have poss one of the best Diesel Engines out there Good luck with your S3
