Is March too Early to Ride THE PYRENEES? (S2-E4)

We head up into The French Pyrenees, as a couple of mountain passes are clear from snow.

Another great series! I have been lucky enough to visit Rocamadour, the Lot region and the Pyrenees a couples of time. First time was back in 2006 when three of us rode down from Oxford on our Honda CBR's. Beautiful part of France but very busy during the summer months. Really nice editing and Ramona just sounds so great! I've started to check out the price of HD's and I hold you thoroughly responsible! 🤣

@@jasonwright9555 Ah that sounds great , it’s a beautiful area ! Hey wait , don’t ever check the price !!!!! Ah man the newer ones are so expensive, Mad thing is on older ones , I’ve always owned them for years , racked up miles and miles and sold them either for a profit or evens . My last one Jolene got written off , it was probably only worth 6 1/2 grand , because I’d made it into chopper , But when insurance offered me 3k I said no just buy me another one But the same bike standard was 10k So they gave me 9k So as bad as it was losing her I made money , But I’m rambling , The new ones are expensive, I bought mine 3 months old Less than 3k miles 3 grand of extras. And the previous owner lost 9k I’d never buy new for that reason , Looking at what they go for now I could sell it for almost the same money And I’ve done 20k miles . Just got to look for that person Desperate to sell . Anyone I’m not responding for you being irresponsible haha

@@LeanIntoTheWind Well, I’ve never ridden a HD and to be honest they’ve never been on my radar until I saw your early videos with Jolene. Maybe it’s also an age thing? I’ve mostly owned Ducati’s, so I’ve become pretty handy with a spanner!😂 The first Road King Special that I found online for sale over here in Germany was a 23 model with just 1100km on the clock. It’s up for a whopping 33k Euro!😲 That would take some serious ‘negotiations’ with the Mrs!😭

@@jasonwright9555 the older ones are reasonable money , unless you go really old then they go to more than new ones haha , a 80s or 90s evo engine good bet , Before all the computers etc Basic engine all fixable , Jolene was special to me , so many good times so many miles , She broke down a fair bit when I got her but I think mostly she hadn’t been used much , but once I went through the obvious she was really good to me for 13 years till the crash . I love the new one we got it’s perfect for long two up trips , But I’m already saving and gonna buy 80s 1340 evo … to do any uk trips

Watching you ride southwestern France reminded me of how close you were to my ancestral roots in Spain. I hope someday to visit Spain to look up my distant relatives in Lugo situated in the northwestern region of Galicia. While there, I would also plan to visit France. What a wonderful ride you shared with the abundant scenery in southwestern France and spectacular views of the Pyrenees. The ubiquitous towering evergreen trees were a sight to behold. What a benefit it is to watch your travel experiences together. When you were in Arreau the buildings and structures nestled on the river and waterways appeared inviting as a destination to visit. Were you in town on a Sunday which might explain why most businesses were closed for the day? Just curious. Take care, continue to enjoy your precious moments together, and wish you safe travels always. 🙂👍

I loved reading this , we hope one day you manage to do that ! Spain is such a wonderful country . For us it’s so close we have been many many times . However not been to Lugo .. and after looking at some photos will try to rectify that on next visit . Spain is so diverse, the people are amazing. Some of of favourite places there are Ronda , Tarifa , Almaria , San Jose , Tabernas … Cadaques… The Pyrenees are beautiful and such a large area stretching coast to coast .. ah there is never enough time !

There are so few guns around that you feel you need to worry about it . If I lived in America I’d bloody want one . Only once had a gun pointed at me and that was in Portugal.. middle no where by a drunk soldier… I just turned and walked away but it was the longest 30 seconds of my life . What elevation at the top? This is why I have the Big Agnes Echo Park -20 sleeping bag 😏. I would love riding that country. Your guys history is so apparently older than the Americas. The buildings are so much cooler looking than in the states. It reminds me of how embarrassed I'm with the American gov't and even our citizens. We are like little spoiled children in comparison to Europe. Our system is corrupted. My Road King is my escape! Please show me the bags you use to haul all your cookware, etc etc. Thanks Brother for the great videos!

To be honest , have no idea what elevation was on that particular road , the highest of the Pyrenees are only 3.400 metres . The Alps are higher , more dramatic, but the Pyrenees have a great feel . Most the high roads still closed in March covered in snow . We was on outskirts .. but after May can cross the high points straight into Spain and that’s just a fantastic ride . Yeah Europe has so much history buildings etc everywhere. Don’t feel bad bout the Government they all corrupt and we all in the same net. That’s world wide . We just looking to have our freedom machine and anti ball shit escape vehicle! Hey Brother. Does that removable "bill" on the front of your helmet really make a difference with the wind deflection? I also wear half and 3/4 helmets but take those off. Let me know how this effects your ride. You know better because I ride with a windscreen. Though my windscreen is 4-5 inches below my eyes it still throws most of the wind over my head. Any info would be appreciated. Stay strong Bro...✊🏼

Thanks man . As for bars , I can’t remember height details , but they are exact same height as OEM ones that come with RKS. But mine are from Road Glide , so 7 inch more pull back and much narrower at 32inch . For me they 1000 times better than standard ones . Easy swap and cheap as bought RG ones eBay for under £100 No cables needed replacing . So it was good on the wallet and I was broke after buying the bike .. but hated the stock RKS so much , I didn’t even want to ride the bike . Had to be done and fast .
