Amazing film mate, I went with you on that trip anyway and properly enjoyed it! 😎👍 honestly your filmmaking and the storytelling, photography, poetry, music, editing, and all that you put into this is reaching another level now. It’s engaging and brilliant… this channel is going to be huge. 🙌🙌
Thouroughly enjoyed your depiction of that trip through my country (litterally, Rocamadour-Cahors is my back garden and motorcycle recreationnal area, and I lived and rode in the part of French Riviera you travelled through for 8 years). Your video style is very pleasant, and you truly share a piece of your heart with us. Ever ride through the South West again, there's a meal and a place to stay waiting for you near Cahors, just get in touch. All the best Marc & Lisa. Gilles.
@@freebird46250 That’s really kind of you Giles .. shall definitely be back as it was a blur of a trip as so much on our minds . Stunning place to call your back yard . Best wishes

Long haul riding. Did it just ones. And for diverend reasons turned out to be not the thing for me. Little over 30 years ago i went for a job interview to hamburg,so i thought. I rode a yamaha sr 500 . It hade a worn out seat. The headlight had the habbit of pulling to the left when ever it felt like. The damn thing had a mind of its own. I left at 5 in the moring and as soon as i crossed the german border the bike started to run bad and gussling feul. All my motorcycles and mopeds sins run bad as soon as i cros the german border. The first 50 km in germany was riding in heavy fog. And my headlight said, fuck you and pulled to the left. So with my left hand pushing the headlight straight i did 50km in the most thick fog i ever ridden in. That was a very scary 50 km. Around noon it was a scourching 30 + celcius. Feul went from normaly 1:19 to 1:14. It was like riding a tractor. I reached hamburg and turned out we had to ride a bit further into the former DDR. The job interview was a bust. So nothing left to do than go back home. The hottest part of the day it got 36 celcius. No gust of wind to cool of a bit other than the between 100 and 120 km a hour i rode. I was boling inside my helmet and clothing. I stopped for feul and drank a liter of water in the shade. I heard a bubbling sound and turned out the oil in the motor was boiling hot. I was to exhausted to car, i sat against a tree and passed out for half a hour. It was than as is stiil the the case always construction work going on on the autobahn. For a 100km i was foreced in the wrong direction. No satnav in those days. Feuled up again and ate a bunch of icecream. That turned out to be a bad mistake. Rode the last 300km with stummic cramps.. even tho i was in my late twenties then i felt like a worn out old man. One good tho, my bike started run better the closer i got to the dutch border. After crossing the border it ran like a charm again, not missing a beat. By that time i was totaly spend and worn out. But 50 km from home the german curse caught up and it was one road closier after the other. So hade to ride a extra 30 km before i finaly got home. I left at 5 in the morning and was back home at 9 in the evening. I left the bike standing in the backyard, i was to exhausted to push it into the shed. I walked into the house and went straight go bed. Oh boy the joy of waking up. I was hurting in places i thought was imposible to feel pain. I decided that i would not ever do a long run riding again, no matter wat kinda of bike i would get in the future. My sr 500 was absolutly not the right bike for wat would end up to be a 900 km torture ride. I still think about that ride now and than. There were good and fun moments during that ride. But that is deu to selectiv memory. I stuck to my dicision and never made such a long run again.. 15:47
@@grumpopzijnmashfifty3109 Wow no wonder after that trip I think I’d have given up motorcycles haha .. what a story , that’s real tough going !

Your videos are terrific. Just came across them here in Canada 🇨🇦. Love seeing the footage from Europe but most importantly the narration, your story, philosophy of life resonates. My kids are my life. The worry must have been awful. I slept 5 hours a day for years and thought that was a problem so glad I’m not the only one. I understand Megan’s through the surgery and on the mend so glad to hear that . Riding keeps my mind in a good place. Took it up again after 30 years after the trifecta of divorce, the pandemic and job loss. That and hitting the gym keeps my mind together. Keep the great videos coming & God Bless
@@ericwallace8706 Great to hear from you Eric .. thanks for kind words , especially about Meghan . She is doing magnificently! Glad to hear you back on the saddle , good luck and wish you nothing but good times in your new chapter. Thanks so much mate

Took my ol girl out today for a ride to check all before my 5000k + trip after giving her new dancing shoes, full check over on all systems & service, Mark i'm itching to go brother just a bit to cold in the desert to free style until late Sept. Great to hear Megan is doing well & up n about she's strong as you both are. Sarcasm is always best replied with sarcasm like tennis. My 4.5 VH pipes would get their tongues wagging i'm sure. Looking forward to next weeks episode brother hugs to you all from down under Australia

Sitting in bed watching your video, looking out at the mountains of Chamonix through the window. You have set me up for a perfect long run with Sam. The filming is getting better each and every second. Your songs have always been quality, I’m coming Home …… but still got 10 days, thanks Mark x

You are living a LIFE as long as you are riding your bike excellent video

Another great video! I sat here watching it with my 32-year-old son in the seat next to me. He was wrapped up in his phone until he saw the drone footage of the white cliffs. When he saw that he put his phone down and gave an audible “ooohh!” Great footage. Great song, too!! I am glad you are sticking around to do more videos, and I am glad your daughter is on the mend. I look forward to your next video. Eric
Ooooh , haha I’ll take that … thanks so much Eric, always a pleasure to hear from you .
As usual loved the flick. The tank looks awesome.
Thank you mate !
Going to SE Asia and seeing everyone there running around on small displacement dual sports sealed the deal for me. I realized that where I had just moved to had 300 days of sunshine, not too many people and endless riding opportunities. I also figured getting a small displacement bike would save me a shit ton on gas costs commuting to work in the city and it was a done deal. A couple years later, my uncle passed and my aunt made me a helluva deal on his sportster 1200 that he had massaged the engine on (the guy was a wiz with anything mechanical). I wish I knew exactly what he’d done to that bike, but I’m pretty sure he swapped the cams, changed the fuel injectors and fuel mapping among other things. When my uncle’s buddy dropped the bike off to my Dad’s house (I had to come up north to pick it up) he said, “tell your boy to be careful with this thing. It’s one of the fastest sportsters I’ve ever been on.” All I know is, it makes me smile when I twist the throttle and sometimes it feels like my uncle is flying alongside me and the bike on the road.
Ah what a great read ! I literally wanna shot on it … you got me fired up… Happy safe travels bud

What an episode! Thanks for sharing the challenges your daughter and family faced - I knew something had happened but I wasn’t aware of the details. So nice to hear of all the kind words and generosity of others. That looked like an amazing camp, good scran and great music. I said it before - you’ve a good set of pipes, sir. The sunset looked incredible. Always enjoy watching your videos - something very raw and original about them that just resonates with me. Take it easy and ride safe.
