i actually feel the same way as you! Like this way of dressing pleases certain femininity that got lost in this society, and my feminine side might be a lill sad because of that. It encapsulates a way i feel within myself that doesn't get to exist here which makes it poetic or like artsy in some way.

I have demon, vampire and witch coordinates that I use to express myself these are more themed and yes at times even to me come across as costumy but I've also used them many times as a way to express my depression or being overwhelmed and sad specifically with goth lolita. Most people don't understand the nuance that can come from expressing yourself through fashion. So while I wouldn't necessarily say lolita fashion is a costume I do understand the line of thinking.
