The chances of losing your eyesight from lasik is comparable to people losing eyesight because of contacts. The chances of serious complications today with modern technology is 1%. The 5% was from studies done in the 1990s.

From my own research i’m legitimately convinced that it’s an unsafe procedure. It just feels so odd i’ve never seen someone who has had lasik for many years who said theyve never had any problems. Only people who think that since they didnt go blind after the surgery, it must be a safe procedure. In the long run, it is said to cause corneal ecstasia. This is when the cornea loses integrity years after lasik surgery or other laser eye surgeries and leads it to warp. It can literally destroy your cornea and ruin your vision. If this happens you need to get even more surgery which just leads you down the rabbit hole of surgeries. You might even need to get a corneal transplantstion if its bad

@@osas201 well, the euphoria has gone pretty quickly, cause you get used to good things quickly 😀. but I still can see 🧐, and I still remember how awful that was to be carrying those glasses all around.. so I am still happy. it's only sometimes I get afraid that my vision might worsen again, cause of working with the computer all day, or something...😒

I had LASIK 2 weeks ago in metro Detroit. LASIK plus was the center. Best choice in my life, as my astigmatism was debilitating. I couldn’t see the E on the eye chart. Glasses so heavy I would get pain and contacts would dry my eyes out. I can see well for the first time in years. Do your research and follow post op care to a T. It took years for me to make up my mind about surgery. Everything in life is a risk. I’m happy I took this one.

Alot of the complications come a few months later.. Nerves NEVER HEAL PROPER..CORNEA DISEASE DEVELOPS THEN COME THE CATRACTS....AND MOST ARE ASHAMED TO ADMIT ,SO DONT TAKE THE RISK...IT AINT A HAIRCUT @

I had it done 16 years ago by the "BEST" eye surgeon, Dr. Donnenfeld. It was horrible. I had pre surgery screening where I had the surgery done, and they said I was a good candidate. From the moment it was done I had pain and terribly dry eyes. My eye doctor, who took care of post laser eye surgery patients realized I was allergic to the eye drops I was given and switched me to non-preservative drops, which did not help. On top of the dry eyes and pain, one of my eyes was blurry, and I'd have to wait three months to have it done again. My eye doctor saw me many times over that three month period, but the dry eyes, pain, halo I was seeing, and star burst eye sight I had at night did not get any better. I couldn't stand the poor eye sight in that eye, so after three months I actually went back and had the surgery done to that eye again. It improved to some degree, but it has never improved enough. I was ready to rip the eyes out of my head to get some relief from the dryness and pain. The surgeon who did the procedures told me after the fact that my eyes were "a little dry" before the surgery, but he did the surgery anyway. It took more than a year for the dryness and pain to subside enough for me to get through the day without "feeling" my eyes. To this day, 16 years later, the eye that I had done twice still has so so vision, and it is still a little dry. I've had many eye checkups since having the surgery done, and eye doctors cannot tell that I had anything done to my eyes, and they are perfectly healthy, but the vision in my left eye is just acceptable and still slightly dry after having the procedure done twice all those years ago. Any time anyone ever asks me if they should have laser eye surgery I tell them NO. Don't ever do it. Wear glasses that will give you great vision, and be happy your eyes don't hurt. I wish could go back and stop myself from doing this.

Thank u for covering this. I am living this nightmare and so tired of drs denying it came from lasik and having no answers. I got it in 2012 and still searching for answers

It is definitely riskier than people think because it is common for people to assume there are no risks to approved medical treatments, which is obviously not the case. While most are happy with the outcomes, there are risks and it is important for everyone to understand those risks going into the procedure (likewise, there are major risks to contacts use, which many do not know.) I got SMILE this year and so far the results have been stellar, with 20/15 uncorrected distance vision and minimal dryness/glare/halos a month out. The fact that everyone in the office and their family members had the same procedure also provided quite a good level of assurance that the people doing this were confident in the surgeon's capabilities and the safety of the procedure. Before this procedure, I had an astigmatism that neither glasses nor contacts ever perfectly corrected, and this procedure completely eliminated the astigmatism. I would definitely do it over again. For those considering it, all I can say is definitely spend time learning about the benefits/short-term side effects/longer-term risks and if you are a patient that is more likely to experience unwanted issues. Also give long thought to if you have the discipline to follow through with the preparation/aftercare EXACTLY as stated, as a failure to do this could negatively impact you for the rest of your life. If you want to move forward, then select a good surgeon who will not hesitate for one second to refuse to do the procedure if they do not feel you are a stellar candidate. If they do feel you are a stellar candidate, then make the informed judgment call if the level of risk is acceptable relative to the benefit. YMMV.

I did Lasik 1.5 years ago. I have 20/20 vision, but - * Eye pain * Floaters * Starburst vision * Photofobia * Afterimages (Visual snow symtoms) * Serious daytime glare * Very bad nightvision (cant drive at night) Still my surgery is considered to be succesful, since i have 20/20 vision. Keep that in mind if you think of doing Lasik yourself.

@Musiklarar Felix - Sorry you are experiencing all of these issues. However, you are not alone as many, many people have at least one of these post-Lasik complications. Sadly, before the surgery you have to sign a 'hold harmless' document before the doctor will allow you to go under the laser. Perhaps for some people it is a success, but the risks far outweigh the rewards in my view. Also, best of luck in your management of these eye issues!

My father had prk (similar to lasik) decades ago and he's in his mid 60s now. He has no problems whatsoever. I'm saving $ for prk/lasik too. Life is full of danger, even driving a car is a risk. Some doctors probably don't want take so much time off work to have their vision heal post-op, so they wear glasses.

I don't want to worry or frighten those of you who have had this surgery and think you are out of the woods but I have been doing some reading about this surgery because of the suicide of Jessica Starr. The scariest thing I came across relating to this surgery is something called ectasia. It is a herniation of the cornea that can occur YEARS after this surgery. This surgery does permanent damage to the cornea. LASIK results in a weakening of the biomechanical strength of the cornea as the effective thickness of the cornea is reduced. @Mandre bestie, I think it depends, if you have a very high myopia and also astigmatism, maybe you should wait cuz we don’t know if it will get worse even after the surgery (your eye keeps growing until 21 so the problem continues) but if you have a myopia that lets you take off your glasses and live an almost normal life for a day, like a low one (-3.00 or lower) then don’t wait, have it at 18

You're not just waiting on age, hon. You have to have had your eye glasses prescription not change in at least a year. At 18 you are still growing and changing, 21 is probably when you should do it. And that's even if you qualify to have it done and can afford the $4,000 to $8,000 out of pocket, insurance won't cover this. It's all your own money.

I looked into getting it locally. Half of the doctors there wore glasses. That should tell you all you need to know.

Dry eye is a very complicate because inflamation can triguer dry eye that can trigger inflammation etc and when you cut the nerve it can change the dynamic forever and dry eye is a painfull situation to live in. In LASIK, the flap can always open, always. Extasia can be slow or by chance stop for a while. Argue all you wish, i have this information from the lasik places itself and specialist from a vision health care of a university... I also live with 3 permanent problem at the same time. Ive paid a lot, had surgeon who has done that very often. They dont even explain you the difference between the ocular and the transition zone when you have puppils higher then 6.5mm or 7mm because in some case they can do this large.

Complications are not rare. Don’t let them fool you. All these surgeons keep their glasses. That should tell you something. They just want your money and if you do get complications, expect to spend even more.

LASIK has done so much damage to people, including my uncle. A few months after he got his procedure, his eyes got extremely dry and he started seeing bright flashes at night. He totally regrets getting it. Stick to eyeglasses and contacts ♥️🙏🏻

The 5% was from studies done in the 1990s. I know most people don’t trust what stats they put out, but who says other people are telling the full truth too? There was a time that people didn’t trust contacts. So many “complications” and things that COULD go wrong. Guess what, very little actually went wrong after it was updated and less risky. People say this treatment is bad while there is way worse that’s accepted. Every surgery comes with possible risks. All this fear is just what people make you feel, they want to make you fear it. Like sharks. It’s more common for toilets to kill people per year than sharks. I don’t see people scared of toilets. Don’t trust everything you hear on the media, nor shouldn’t you have one study to refer to.

I do have 3 problems after his surgery that is almost impossible to have statisticly talking, and the procedure went well, imagine if it hadnt... Funny fact, i know a group of people who have problem and im far from alone to have multiple problems. I have problem, ive inform myself very well on the subject and i can assure you that surgeon know very little about complication, dont know how do deal well will it after they have create it and inform you very badly because they do believe you wouldnt understand anyways. ive heard it multiple time and my surgeon even tell me that in person.

@Blaze Is Hyped yeah but when its 0.0000000000000000001% possible with their stats and you have 20000 person in the smae or worse case... All im saying is that the stats doesnt make senses. Dry eyes are also not listed has a high gravity side effect, guess what, peoples cant even go outside because the wind burn their eyes and the sensitivity of light is too high. I do had an infection in the eyes, ive stop using contact for lie a month and all want ok, because i wasnt using them corectly, them i never have a problem for 15 years after, because i had a good hygiene. These infections are well know and they know how to treat them, in most case i guesss , i admit im not an expert. Dry eyes is multifactoriel and they dont know how to deal with that correctly, HOA are inconrectable with normal prism optic so the only chance you have is with scleral lnses if it work and floaters . All of them are not correctable, are not considering serious side effect but can dommage intensly your quality of life.

Just had LASIK done in Johnson City, NY. 20/20 vision the next day at post op. Minimal pain only in the first hour after but I could immediately see when I sat up from the surgery. The staff and several people in the area had it done there and all went great👍🏻

I had ICL surgery recently and it ruined my vision. I know of other people who had successful Lasik and failure at Lasik. As a victim of this, I would not recommend these surgeries as the risks are too high.

He should have known better going to Mexico and having it done...

These are not side effects. These are complications! Labeling these as side effects allows them to keep their FDA approval. Lasik was the worst decision I have ever made. Please, don't do lasik!

What complications did you face can you tell?

I had a corneal abrasion when I accidentally poked my eye with a tree branch. Till date, many years later, I still suffer from occasional dryness that stings like hell and erodes the newly formed tissue where the initial damage had been. Sometimes it’s so bad, that it takes 3-5 days to heal completely! I have realized that once, your cornea is scratched, no amount of healing will ever restore it like before. So, I guess I can understand how lasik, can cause permanent dryness. A tip for anyone experiencing dryness, right after you wake up is to gently rub the eye while it’s shut; before you attempt to open it. That way the cornea won’t be stuck to the eyelid which cause tearing and scratch.

Rubbing the eye can, in and of itself, cause corneal damage, especially over time. For that level of dryness, using a preservative-free ointment at night will be very beneficial and it will help the eye repair itself during the night and avoid some types of dryness during the day. If dry eyes are an ongoing issue, it is critical for an optometrist to evaluate 'tear film stability', as this will allow the identification of the root cause of dryness, and formulate a solution for it. In many cases, dryness is caused by the glands in the eye clogging and, over time, dying. This can be prevented and stopped with proper treatment.

@@RDROff Thank you for the info. I will definitely ask my optometrist about the tear film stability. I have been having unexpected erosions, even while using Muro 128 eye ointments at night and preservative free gel through out the day. But gently rubbing the eye before opening them has helped me tremendously. It should be a slight gentle touch, just using the finger tips. Not even a proper rub, more like moving finger tips gently over the eyelid in circular motion. My optometrists have suggested it.

I waited so long for this. Got mine done on Thursday, Nov, 10th, 2022. It's Saturday and I am still shocked at how wonderful the results are. I used TLC Lasik in Charlottesville, VA. My only regret was waiting. I was a really bad contact abuser to the point I ended up with corneal scarring. 30 minutes after the numbing wears off it feels like someone poured jalapeño juice in my eyes. Next morning it was a new, in focus world. 1st day post op felt like I had old contacts in that needed to come out. Day 3 and feel barely anything. Follow the guidelines for the aftercare, no problems. My feelings on negative results is how I feel about vaccines. For every 100 no allergic reactions there is 1 bad reaction. Medicine is a roll of the dice and every human is different.

@user-ln2qr9kg5p I suggest getting a really good ophthalmologist. They will be honest with you about your eligibility and associated risks. There are 2 forms of Lasik with one having a longer healing time. I filled out a long document about the risks and knowing it doesn't work for everyone. Good luck.

My left eye is a -6 and I got PRK and now I can see better. What people can see 15 feet away I can see 20 feet away. My right is -8 and it is good enough to drive 20/25. I trust Barrie Lasik in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Of course they will test to see if you are a good candidate and they will turn you down if you are not a good candidate. I worn glasses most of my life and at age 49 glasses and prescriptions get more complicated with more than one prescription in a lens sometimes 3. My right eye through glasses could not give me 20/20 vision because of the curve of the lens could not be accomplished and that is why I considered Lasik or PRK. For me my optometrist said for my situation it made since to do what I did.

So PRK sems to be the best choice when we talk about refractive error surgery.. maybe that's why 80%+ OF USA army who need eye surgery chose PRK aswell, I do think to get PRK aswell with -5.00 both eyes. PS: how are you doing now? I hope you recovered 100%

At times my eyes will get dry so eye drops will help during the winter months. There is always an eye that can see better than the other so it becomes dominant. Prk the recovery time is longer and Lasik is quicker recovery. There are times my eyes get tired and it can be difficult to see perfectly however with a good night sleep I found my eyes can see much better.

A co-worker once told me that you should get one eye done and maybe six months to a year later get the second I done

If you wear glasses or contact there is like no risk of eye damage. With lasik you are basically risking it. Don't chance your eyes you only get one set of them. And why would you ask an eye doctor who does Lasik if it's dangerous. Of course they are going to say no.

I have 20/20 now and am still extremely happy with the surgery. Starting to show signs on old aging like I need to keep small print a bit farther to read it

I wish we had 20/20 vision until death or at least old age like 60, why do we have to suffer from vision loss at such a young age. Myopia is so common.

Is it true that once u get LASIK, the effects wear off after 20 years though or do the benefits last forever?

So what happens years after the surgery? Did someone experience anything? I wanted to do it but now I just have second thoughts and probably won’t do it

I had LASIK about one year ago, and I still see mild double vision, star burst, halo, dry eyes. It's not bad, and it only happens at night or when i look at black background with white words like iphone's dark mode. But to be honest I think i am still glad i had the lasik.

@@rakaaji7386 I can drive at night, but in tricky situations like super narrow lane or construction going on, i'll have to squint my eyes, because those traffic cones have reflectors on them, and in my eyes those reflectors will be double vision it confuses me. Here's a real life case, I was driving at night time in a desert hwy, and my eyes see 2 white lines on the right side of the road shoulder, but I know one of it is fake(double vision) but I couldn't tell which one is the real one, so I picked one that looked more white and solid, and it was the wrong one cuz as soon as I shifted toward more right I hit the road shoulder where all those noise started to happen. So I realized that the other line is the real one, not the one I picked. Oh also, to me now, every car has 4 tail lights instead of 2, lol.

I wore glasses since 1987 and let me tell you it sucked. My parents finally let me try contacts in the late 90’s which helped my vision But the Best thing I did for my eyesight was LASIK in Jan. 2023. I see things better than I ever did with glasses and contacts. Just go to a reputable LASIK office and follow the post-surgery instructions. There was a slight glare for a couple weeks when looking directly at lights at night but that wore off completely after about two weeks. I am glad I didn’t let these negative videos sway me. I waited until my 40’s and I see fantastic now. Wish I would have done it years ago.

if all goes well it improves your life considerably, but if you see very well with glasses, I would leave it alone ... moreover my ophthalmologist after careful examination advised me against LASIK, and for PRK he told me that I would be at the limit, and if went wrong there would be no remedy, in the end I decided after careful preparatory exams NOT TO DO IT, because if it goes wrong (even if it is a small possibility) it will significantly worsen my life, listen to doctors you trust, ask for more opinions before submitting yourself to this

I wish I saw this before having mine done ! One of the worst experience ever , not only I can’t see after the procedure but I am miserable every day from the pain in my eyes ! I had never use that many eye drop in my life just to keep the dryness out

I think for someone who has -1 eye sight I wouldn't get it and for someone who has -6 or -8 eyes I would get it if you are a good candidate.

I have this cornea and my doctor suggested ASA for best results and I couldn’t be happier.. No problems just long healing time but always ask questions, research to doctors experience and reviews and learn which option is best for your eyes.

Anyone who is in their right mind will never go for this surgery after knowing the true extent of complications

I got EVO ICL two weeks ago- implantable contact lenses. My vision went from almost blind to 20/20. Also it doesn’t need to be permanent- lenses can be removed if needed and I have kept my original cornea so no issues with dry eye.

Had PRK. It's safer than Lasik and needs less material to work with. Plus it's better for dry eyes after. All around I'd say it's superior with the exception if initial recovery time is about a week upfront and gradually up to 3 months for 20/20. However with my only set of eyes I'd prefer the safer choice.

Dry eyes surprisingly sucks. I know some people after these processes have quite a bit of problems. Not exactly sure why some people have such different effects from these processes.

I definitely have the same mind set as you, PRK sems to be the most non invasive with TransPRK, pain and healing time is indeed something to think about but I prefer them anytime if that means there is more change to avoid side effects. Thinking to get TransPRK -5.00 hope I am a good candidate.

So 90 million have undergone LASIK, 95% satisfied. This means that 450 000 people have issues relating to LASIK, that’s not a small number and is really bad.

Got PRK, my eyesight quickly worsened to near my old prescription. I'm left with minor dry eye too. And lots of wasted money.

2:05 says 95% comes out fine and the other 5 per cent mostly have minor problems, "its a risky surgery'

Almost five years later my eyes still hurt daily. It has ruined me.

That's rare for the Lasik surgery not going well.

With further advances in eye surgery and medical technology, risks involved with the procedure have definitely become slimmer.

I'm scheduled to do it next month. I was given a five page document with all of the possible things that could go wrong. I had to watch a movie in the clinic and take a test to make sure I understand all of the risks. The doctor preforming my surgery has been doing it for 20 years, so I feel pretty confident about it. He also told me I have abnormally thick corneas, which means I have a lesser chance of serious complications.

Hi, thank you for your comment! I’m considering PRE/LasEk, how are you eyes now and what is your final verdict about the eye surgery?

Here’s my experience at 19-20 years old: I went in for a 12 minute surgery, the only bad part is having to keep your eye open for a long needle that goes right into the inner corner of your eye (numbing agent). You must keep your eyes open for the entirety of the procedure. For the other 10 minutes all I remember is looking directly straight ahead at a red or green light and I had to try to keep my eye still and avoid looking at the peripheral stuff (his laser work). So it’s like seeing a blurry laser light show, for a whooping 10 minutes. My eyes stung after the procedure (as my doctor said they would) but it wasn’t that bad-equivalent to opening to your eyes one too many times in a chlorine pool. I had to keep my eyes closed for at least a few hours so I was driven home by family, took a nap and when I woke up I had 20/20 vision except my eyes still stung so I couldn’t fully test them out. I go to sleep for a whole 10 hours and when I woke up I hade 20/20 vision, no pain and no regrets 7 years later. Within 24 hours I had 20/20 vision and no pain. Real talk. HOWEVER because my eye sight is better, lines are more crisp, colors are more vivid and in general everything is noticeably brighter. I often have to wear shades when I’m driving on a sunny day or sometimes just out-and-about because, if the conditions are right my eyes will tear up from the brightness as if I’m looking at the sun even if I’m looking straight ahead and not up. I still prefer this over my original awful eyesight.

ill just stick to wearing glasses, i dont want to risk of having the surgery go wrong and plus i look better in glasses

In 2016 it was exposed that the most serious complication from lasik (corneal ectasia -blindness) represents 1.5% of all cases of lasik performed in the USA. As of 2016 over 160,000 cases of ectasia have occured making lasik the leading cause of preventable blindness in the country. This complication happens years or decades later due to thin corneas. Look up Avedro Press release for this data.

Im 55 I had it done and I'm the happiest candidate ever. Its a whole new world for me now. I read and joined real estate school im so happy. Getter Done asap

That won’t happen. They make you sign tons of waivers and basically give you a packet of everything that can go wrong.

Lasik was the best decision I ever made. My best advice is if you do it do your research & dont go cheap. I was pretty nearsighted & now have 20/20 vision. Best thing ever & i love being free from contacts & glasses. I have a feeling the guy who had the bad side effects probably didnt research his surgeon or clinic enough prior.

@Benson My feeling is my opinion and I definitely have a good hunch about it. Not trying to deny his experience but you do pay for what you get & it’s highly likely that he didnt do his research or just wanted to go super cheap. I went to a well known clinic myself where i did my research. Others who went to other clinics that charged cheaper & experienced side effects not as extreme as this man but halos mostly. But still you dont want to cheap out on your eyes. They do not state how he came across the clinic that performed surgery so of course we’re left to guess, not my “imagination” as you assume.

@@flyby3079 it’s not about cheap, …..🙄….Corneal Neuralgia is about healing, each Person is different. Jessica Starr for example paid a lot and was suffering from this condition. You want to blame the victims….but: you also are not out of the Woods. Some devastating consequences occur years After Lasik, like keratoconus, early cataracts, bad measurement of IOP, Retinal Tears and so on. Then you also can blame yourself.

They could’ve disclosed which clinic he went to to get the surgery and investigated on them too to get their input. But generally speaking unfortunately you do pay for what you get & as it’s not a medically necessary procedure & more of a cosmetic procedure. I’m not sure how much FDA regulates surgeons who perform lasik since it is cosmetic. It is sad though they didn’t tell him the high risks because as doctors they should disclose all risks. I went to a reputable clinic myself.

Lasik was the best thing I’ve ever done. I wish I hade done it sooner. Wearing glasses gave me anxiety for some odd reason and contacts were uncomfortable and a huge hassle for me. I didn’t have any issues but unable to see anything at a distance and dry eye, my corneas are very thick.

If ur uncertain about LASIK could try looking into ReLEx SMILE! It's probably only available in bigger cities and might be more expensive, but I just had it 2 days ago and 11/10 would recommend.

Yes As a former optician, yes. Lee T Nordan MD pioneer of Lasik, stopped being an opthalmologist because his patients were coming back years later with problems he couldn't fix. Dr Nordan went on to invent the sobe drink before he passed away. You can find articles online of his case studies and how he rebuked all refractive surgery.

It is FDA approved. Many people do it themselves, even medical professionals. The surgery is fairly low risk, the risk percentage varies from place to place. Some have it as low as less than 1% risk. There are many factors that increases your risk of being one of that 1-5% of people who get mostly minor (very few serious) problems. Do you even know what influences many of these? Doctor is not experienced enough... The doctor says that you can safely have the treatment done while he actually didn’t properly asses you and you fall under the people who aren’t fit to get the treatment (around 30% of people). The “doctor” might not be licensed and some of these procedures are thus illegal. Some places use older technology and that definitely makes the chances of complications higher. People don’t properly do their research and only rely on what whatever place they go to says about lasik. Some people only watch a video or hear ONE of the millions of people who did lasik talk about their unfortunate botch of a treatment.

I also heard that Lasik can dramatically affect your ability to see at night. I even went on a few Lasik websites and all of them said that that was a common side effect out of most of their patients so even the ones who had great results still can barely see at night. I'm good. I'd rather wear glasses and see clear any time of day.

biggest redflag was the aggressive sales bs they tried to feed me from day one with the desperation of a teenage girl to get me to pay even the smallest amount of deposit , so i'd be hooked,,, needless to say i walked away , then looked into it deeper...

I developed chronic dry eye due to LASIK and this is more common than the eye doctors want you to know. As they said they mutilate a healthy cornea just to put a laser beam into your eye. It’s a horrible feeling and affects my quality of life !! So we can’t even look directly into the sun but it’s ok to put a laser into our eyes ? It’s not like we can get replacement eyes if something goes wrong ! But get this, I’m now wearing glasses 4 years later because LASIK never gave me perfect vision, it deteriorated over time making driving at night so uncomfortable because the traffic lights were so bright and I was having blurred vision ! Horrible botched procedure across the board ! It should have never been passed through the FDA now one of the guys from the FDA who helped legalize this procedure is totally against it because it’s genuinely dangerous

My infrared lamp helps to trigger tear production and also relax my eyes. I find catching as many sunrises/sets really helpful too.

Sorry to say it, but lasik is one of the safest elective medical treatments. What happened to you was very unfortunate and you just happened to be one of the unlucky ones... many people had this done and came out extremely happy with the results. Many many many other treatments of all kinds that’s very common have higher risk but I don’t see as many people complaining. As I have commented before, people go into this regardless of the risks. If you did this and you didn’t know this could happen then it’s your own fault for putting yourself into that situation. The chances that you would have gotten a botched surgery was so low, don’t let the 5% fool you. These days the chances of complications are less than 1%. The 5% is old statistics, from studies in the 1990s.

@@mcrainbowoeslak1603 man have you live problem from an eye surgery? i see all of your post and i dont get it. Explain to me what is minor problem in your head? Explain to me and can you compare vision vs a skin problem(maybe you ll finish to understand why do people complain more about this surgery). From where do that all these statistic come from, knowing that none of them have been done for decades and that problem can occur a decade after? 95% satisfaction rate but they make you write it 1 day after the surgery and tell you to wait 3 months for the final results. This stats obviously make complete none sense. Oh yeah and its also all of our fault to dont have medical degree on eyes and to dont have known each and every possible problem that can happen. Would the surgeon that transplant you liver dont explain you what are the possible consequence? Then ask yourself, why do people end up with things that they didnt expect if there is the fact that the surgeon didnt make sure that the person didnt understand perfectly all the things...

I live in the UK and had the procedure 10days ago. Best decision of my life! My vision is better now than it ever was with glasses and contact lenses.

​@@kpaulyy7040 I never watched a video, but from your personal point of view it's like a surreal surgery from aliens with warped, disorted scenes. My is 14 days old, so far no complications, great sight, made it in germany. At some point they do drops on your eye or they wipe your eye, on the beginning they push on your eye, testing the numbing, thereby your sight distorted like you look through the water surface from under water. I remember 2 red lights in the beginning, they interferenced and scattered. I had to look straight at a green light scource, it was pretty surreal, but except some uncomfortabilities, no pain while the surgery. Some things are a bit uncomfortable, the eyelid fixation, the little saw which is mounted on your eye. You hear the saw, they need 2 or 3 secs, when they flip the flap you lose sight, but it isn't dark it is more blurry greyish. Keep looking straight, don't search for lights, but they talk to you, do what they say. First day after surgery the first 4 hours when numbing subsides your eyes will burn and you will experience a couple of unpredictable short stabbings in your eyes. I wore on the first day sunglasses at home, but sunglasses in the first week are good as a wind and particle protection. The first week I had to drop antibiotics, cortisone and artificial tears. The artificial tears at least for 4 weeks. I don't needed pain killers so far. My eyes were pretty bad. 30 % left and right, with my old glasses which I never wore I had 80 %. I never wore contacts, I never wore my glasses, stupid I know. Now I have 100 % left and right, together a bit more. The vision is breathtaking, sometimes I could cry when I see birds far away in the sky, all the details, I can see inside peoples flats, horizon is sharp. But I don't have to forget that the surgery is just 2 weeks ago. I'm still in the healing process. It says, first 3 days no water in the eyes, 2 weeks no scratching and rubbing.

I had lasik done in 2007 with Guy olorenshaw in Melbourne Australia,I was left with.75 astigmatism,got enhancement doing prk and still blurry vision,very disappointed!!!!!

Yeah definitely ever get this shitbi got mine 3 months ago and have most of the problems they speak of

For me this surgery was not worth it. 9 months on and still have weird side effects like persistent afterimages.

My dad has blurred vision caused by diabetes and his doctors has inisisted for Lasik surgery . I want to know the outcome of it. Wll it cause side effects? Can anyone share their experiences

I had it done in 2014 but for last year or so My visions has gotten blurry during the day and now im wearing glasses to drive at night Lately my right eye corneal feels like it has something laying on the corner of it

My glasses are R - 2.50:-2.00:160 L -1.00:-1.50:25 Should I get a laser treatment, bcoz with this number i still can't see, my vision is not seeing 6/6 even with the eyeglasses, I have oguchi Disease too

i had a laser surgery 1.5 years ago. My eyes hurt so much, so much pain. My life is ended at 19 and there is no treatment. I use a lot of medicine but it doesn't help. if there is a god, help me please 😭

I got it like 2 weeks ago no problem. No dry eyes or blurred vision a light sensitive to light but has been getting better. No longer need sunglasses outside

Me too. I considered Lasik but luckily my parents put some sense into me. Even a low risk for permanent eye damage is too high. Contact lenses are perfect for me. They don’t bother me and I can see perfectly fine.

@@UnknownUser_10 Exactly how I feel too. Any risk, no matter how small, to my vision is a no go. Besides, Lasik has to be done every so many years, who needs that bother?

Dont look for the cheapest Dr, and before you have the surgery go to multiple places and get screened to see if you are even a good candidate! Too many cheap places tell people they are candidates but really are not, and it just increases the chances of long term issues and side effects. I need it, and plan to do it once I have enough saved up but I'll dam well gladly pay more to get a certified dr and only after at least 2-3 screenings with different places to make sure I'd be an optimal candidate.
