imo - Conor's game was made way over complicated when he fell in love with boxing. Even in the Dustin rematch - when he had Dustin pinned back early (attacking the lead leg) - when Dustin entered boxing range Conor squared up and obliged him (getting tagged in process), instead of resetting, pressuring, and setting up a counter. At his best I always saw him as a magic trick, his opponents knew what was coming but never when or where - amazing timing and precision.

He's historically relevant because his accomplishments are constantly looked at as things a great fighter should replicate (double-champ status), his personality is constantly emulated by up-and-coming fighters/champions, and his monetary success in the sport is unparalleled. McGregor will always be relevant in the same way that Joe Louis (who has Heavyweight champion in the 1930's - 40's) is still relevant to boxing history, he set a bar that changed the sport as a whole. He's currently relevant because he is likely to return, and that return will break records in and of itself.

Rogan did say that, but it didn't seem in the way that he believed it WOULD happen like that. He was actually on the other side of it, saying he didn't think anyone could. It was kind of a toss out there as a bone (no pun intended) that if anyone can, McGregor can, but not to say that he could come back and be a champion or even beat Poirier. It was more of a negative on thinking McGregor can come back.

Remember hearing silva threw the 1st fight against weidman? That's ridiculous. Although what he did do was try to go too roy jones and hotdog and showboat and dance around with his hands down or behind his back and got caught. That's why he lost that fight

  • @zaynes5094

Yet it was mostly because he got caught. He'd never gotten caught so cleanly before because he was so incredibly fast and untouchable. Until Chael beat him up in the first fight, he had never been tested. And it wasn't because he was going against scrubs, it was because he was just lightyears ahead of them in terms of fighting and MMA ability. If you didn't notice it, from even the fight before that first fight with Weidman, he was already slowing down and losing his speed.

@@zaynes5094 maybe a little bit but i just remember he was dancing around showing off the whole fight even more than in the forest griffin fight. He didn't put his hands down only right before chris got him. He had them down or behind his back or banging on his legs and what not for the whole fight

Like khabib once said “you only have 1 prime”. Connor reached heights almost no one in the sport has but he’ll never be able to reach that peak again. Fact of the matter is he’s just spend too much time inactive and the injury didn’t help either. While he’s partying it up enjoying his wealth, all the other killers in his division have been grinding and improving. In a competitive sport being inactive is the worst thing that can happen to you. It just is what it is. On top of that look at how he fights compared to in the past, he’s completely changed his style. He used to be so fluid and fast but nowadays he’s stiff as a board

Biggest comeback in sports history is Tommy coming back 28 to 3 in the superbowl vs Atlanta. Not even a Pat's fan but that's almost impossible the Falcons literally just needed 1 field goal in the 2nd half to win.

That’s bc side getting stopped there are fr more possibilities that it could have been a “lucky chance”. But you can’t say an ass whooping for 5 rounds with a unanimous decision was a “lucky chance”

I think Connor can definitely get the media hype squad to create a "believable" illusion that he can do it, but can he actually? Kinda doubt it. I don't think Connor is going to fight much outside of big payday matches where the end result will be nowhere near worth the hype.

because of McGregor's fights with Nate Diaz.. He lost the first fight came back in a second fight and kicked his ars... and also Conor McGregor became the first fighter to hold 2 UFC titles in multiple divisions simultaneously... when Conor puts his mind to doing something, he usually does it.. the only thing he couldn't do that he said he was going to do, was bet "Khabib" But Conor did last longer than most people that fought Khabib.. the only person that went 5 rounds was Al Iaquinta, conor lasted till 3 min in the 4th. some say Khabib is probably the best there ever will be.. Maybe close to him is Jon Jones... I would have liked to sees Jones and Khabib go at it at light heavyweight.. that would have been something to see..

Conor fan here but Chael is 100% correct here. Lost a friend after the first Silva / Weidman , he said Weidman got lucky, I said how do you figure, I said Silva didn't even land a punch , Weidman dominated, then the Silva broken leg, guess what, before the keg break Weidman was dominating again. My friend got mad cause the truth, he didn't like the truth🤷‍♂️
