​@@SoLRAace I think they just like to make people believe what few cards they open are more rare than they actually are. As the prebanned common from MH3 showed, Wizards doesn't really look at Pauper much and its up to the Pauper Panel to ban what needs to be banned instead.

True unless if they get reprinted in the future as in Universe versions but at the same rarity in normal packs though, then that way they will be harder to get in future versions than in this.

If you split the cost of the starter decks with someone it makes them roughly £8 each which I'd pretty good value. If people are interested in buying this as sealed product may just be best to get that.

We grabbed these prices late last night, so this is very close to release, I think about 12-18 hours. Also, I goofed and accidentally included 3 cards that are only in the starter decks so even slimmer pickings than I had thought.

Universes Beyond isn’t inherently the problem, this is just a bad set releasing immediately after an immensely pushed set. Plus, the wird booster pack size just makes it a bad deal in general

I like Universes Beyond, I dont like weird Mini-Sets that come with no limited evironment and dont even have a Commander Decks. Universes Beyond works, in my opinion, best as a Commander Product.

The cold open should've been the prof saying "no" followed by a full minute of silence before he sighs and says "FINE, let's get into it...."

Many of the cards have skyrocketed in price.

We have a shelf that we put new release for MTG on display for retail, and it's so bizarre to see three different "sets" on that shelf. OoTJ, MH3, and now Assassin's cluttering the shelf, and Bloomburrow is not far away. It's crazy.

OoTj is already 4 Months old, I don't think that qualifies as a new set. And by the time Bloomburrow comes out MH3 will also be 2 Months old.

And there's Assassin's in the middle (which is universes beyond I know, but the issue here is product release) It's just crazy to me how quickly they're pushing out product right now. It seems Hasboro is really cashing in on that FOMO

I have no intent of getting into MTG but I still enjoy all these videos. The Professor has got me hooked on learning about all that's going on in MTG!

@@weeklyweeks7545 I don't doubt it haha! I've only ever played back in like 2003. I still have a "Wolfgang Eder 2003 MTG Worlds" deck that I won from a guy in a Yugioh match. Just that goblin deck alone led to me finding the Professor and I've just gradually learned about the game over time!

Admittedly, I’ve ordered packs from this set because I’m an Assassins Creed fan. I fully understand and accept the Prof’s analysis, in hindsight I would have waited as he suggests before investing, but I let my excitement get the better of me. I do not regret it, but lesson learned. Always learning something new with the Prof!

Same here. I wanted a commander deck and I thought "well, can't hurt to buy a bundle before buying singles". Ended up walking away with about 110€ in value for my 55€, which is pretty damn great. But that's gonna drop. The Sword of Feast and Famine and Black Market Connections are gonna hold their value, the resr ist absolutely going down. And I still had to pay a lot for all the other cards I needed, including me splurging on a scene-Etio that will definitely drop off hard. Not really worth it financially, I was just fortunate enough to get a kicker out of it anyways.

Not only did I come here to voice concern about what feels like an intentional mispronunciation (which a professor of English should never do/), but also "Edward Kenny." (Also, this is probably unrelated, but it still grinds my gears there have been, what, 8 cards now with almost my name on it. It almost feels like WotC are doing that on purpose. I mean, Post Malone has two official cards with his name on them. Probably because he's egregiously rich and I'm not. I wrote the company about wanting my name on an official-printed MtG card and in a TL;DR I was basically told "Yeah.... no.")

​@@GlassEater420a lot of people play Standard. Standard is the most popular format on MTGA. That's the real reason it's not played widely in paper is because of how accessible that format is on Arena.

Assassin's Creed and Destiny always holds a special place in my heart. A lot of people bash both games due to the routes that both games went, but as a loner growing up I knew that both games were there is I needed to kill some things or do a puzzle. I remember the Princess Bride did not score high, but due to the memories you have with Princess Bride this set and the Lord of the Rings set will always have that spot for me as well. Thank you Proffesor always look forward to your videos.

I absolutely love this set, I’ve got so many killer cards out of it, pulled a black market connections and a swords of feast and famine out of a single pack, I personally believe it’s a gamble but you do have a higher rate to pull something rare and higher

I'd love to be excited for this crossover. AC is just so cool to me, but MH3 JUST came out.. And this being close to aftermath boosters I can't bring myself to buying these packs so far. Maybe I'll do some trades for singles this set.

Im 30 years old now and started playing magic with 12. With around 20 i started to play legacy and really loved the game and the fact there was always a community. In Legacy you had to invest alot of monney but then u could play the same decks for a very long time, perfect for guys like me who love to foil everything out. I even started buying alpha duals. around 3 years ago i quitted and if i watch the products released since then (and also around this time) im really happy i stopped collecting at this time. it dissapoints me so hard how the company try to squeeze out monney from the customers with special cards/sets power creep and so on. still watch your videos because im a big fan. i really hope they find theyre way back to the god old times. sorry for my bad english btw :)

I was shocked to see this in the store already.

I bought the assassin's Creed beyond booster and split it with my pod the other day. through the whole thing in as a price to be handed to the winter or to be split between everyone. I think my favorite pick from that was the haystack

Seems like a better way of getting AC fans to buy the packs is if the cards were usable...it may even get them to stick with the game for future releases...but what do I know?

Notably the Sutur, Fiery Jotuun and Ezio, Blade of Vengeance that are listed in the possible rares at 8:07 actually aren't even obtainable in either beyond or collector packs, those cards are unique to the starter kits.

Friends finally hooked me into MTG. Definitely only doing precon decks and/or singles!

I thought Prof was gonna drag the box to the floor! So shocked it landed in the drawer

I cracked 2 of these packs. Pack 1 was Desynchronization with a foil Sword of Feast and Famine and 2nd pack was Yggdrasil with a foil Cover of Darkness.

I'm looking forward to the drop. Most of the cards that I'm after already seem pretty cheap after 1-2 days, so hopefully ill be able to pick them all up as singles when i head into my LGS for Bloomburrow prerelease.

There are so many special treatments and alternate arts that I don't even know when I should be excited when I pull one, which leads me to not be excited in general.

My target had the packs out a day before and i managed to get the foil showcase etzio from the collector and a borderless full art sword of feast and famine from the basic hooster

Preordered a bundle and starter from my usual LGS and lucked out with two borderless ezios and a sword (my second since a shop i went to for edh gave us early access to packs and i got one for fun then) so i can't complain but definitely not going to be spending anymore on AC packs. May end up picking a playset of tax collectors and one more set of starters since those seem to be maybe usable for modern at some point.

I was so excited for this set until I saw the prices of the singles....

Not to mention the many exclusive cards on the Starter kit, which makes it's more valuable on purpose, even though they're not particularly good.

Can normal foil cards even be called "premium" anymore? My store has something like 25K bulk foils that I use to fill a slot in the $1 repacks I make every month, and I'm still falling behind.

I am a student, so I cant afford to splurge on MTG. I barely managed to scrape together a decent funny deck, and I am happy with it. Since AC is one of my favorite game series, I ended up buying the starter deck, which fits in my budget. Primarily, I bought this because I honestly just really like the art on the cards. Hoping to get my hands on as many showcase cards as possible, so fingers crossed hehe

According to R&D, there just wasn't enough for them to transfer on over to meaningful card designs and reprints. In fact they had to stretch green to second and third pie layers.

I think it will be pretty important to buy these singles fast just in case something gets pricy quick. Lower interest and no limited makes me think not too many packs will get cracked overall.

I got 2 mythics in my first normal pack and Excalibur in my second hope the luck keeps up

I never buy sealed products. Bought a bundle from this set. Enjoyed my time and I am happy with my purchase due to a lot of cards I can actually play in my existing commander decks and the 40 awesome full-art lands. I am rare case I assume.

I agree with what the Prof says on this product. The main draw is going to be the IP to help draw in newer players. They will as a whole not care about the value of the cards, they will just care for the characters from the series.

I bought the bundle and 2 collector boosters because they were lower price (my LGS charges fair rates). Ended up with a textured foil Ezio. Definitely the outlier, but I’m done with the set except for 5-6 singles I need.

I've played magic once. It was fun but I never got into it. I'm a huge fan of assassin's creed so I got the starter set so I could play with my family. I won't get booster packs because they seem overpriced and I have enough to play with just the starter set so I'm happy

I was really excited for this set and try to build an Ezio deck around the cards (i know is not guaranteed having Ezio on those packs) but now watching this video and having comments from other friends about it, i dont know what to do next, if buying it in a couple of days later or wait at least a month for price droping out and try to get the cards, it is my birthday month and it was going to be my auto gift, now im a little thoughtful about it because i dont want to spend my money and not even get nothing from it.

This set is where I fully embrace the "buy singles" mantra. Handful of great reprints and some commander cards, but otherwise this set doesn't look fun to open. And I like AC but I would have rather they did commander decks than aftermath boosters.

I loved Assassins Creed and was excited for this set, the card art is pretty cool but the pricing is wild. I'll just wait till the prices tank :)

My friend bought a bundle last night and in 1 pack pulled 3 copies of shao jun. He was not thrilled at all the duplicate he got but pulled a sword of feast and famine so that kind of made up for it lol.

I drafted this in a chaos draft at my lgs and it was quite fun. Should of just been a draft set and could of been a hit

I opened a bit of MH3 and got a couple nice picks but financially... it was a mistake. I just bought two collector boosters for this as they were the last two at the store. I got the foil Scene Art Ezio, Foil Memory Corridor Ezio in one pack and a serialized greek Sokrates. I disappointed the professor but financially...it worked out. It just took all my remaining luck

I said it on the top cards video and I'll say it here. I'm going to buy like three singles from this set, and I'm probably going to wait a month or two to do that. I still haven't gotten all the singes I want from MH3.

I know its the mantra of this channel, but this set truly is a buy singles set.

My favorite part about this set is that sword of feast and famine might hit sub-10.

I love this set I get it's not liked or even popular but as a fan of assassin's creed I want this collect them all so badly

I bought my bundle and a couple collectors packs for store credit and enjoyed opening the set. I'm going to get flamed for this but I could do without commons moving forward. I like how most everything I opened was usable (I play commander). The price just needs to be lower and the sets need to be a bit larger.

I think this will be an interesting lesson for WotC as they knew the IP would have a ton of problems, but was “doable”.

I just bought the started kit and will probably just get a bundle box and stay at that, these prices are just to damn high!
