Really good review. Exactly what I wanted to hear, I want to know the build quality and the quality of use. I feel like most reviewers ignore how a product will hold up over time. They obsess over how cool it is when it’s new but I want to know if it’s built to last

I just got mine today ... the audio suprised me at how good it actually is and the strap is light years ahead of the old system. Even without the audio I'd pay the same price all over again just for the comfort in my opinion !! I'm super happy with my purcahse !! ( the foam has been fixed and it now comes with a different foam padding )

Finally got this one in on Vives last sale and I might have a strange head but it's made a WORLD of difference comfort wise. I was constantly messing with the velcro trying to get comfortable with the first headstrap and the Deluxe one just fits, I can feel it griping the back of my head perfectly and it feels good. If it feels a little tight during gameplay I turn it one or two clicks and it relieves pressure, I love this thing. Audio is good too ;)

Nice video :) We use it for game development and when you put it up and down a lot, it does get damaged. It does feel better and you can put it on easily, but we had to repair it a lot. Besides, we have troubles due to the bad quality of the headphones especially if you like audio based games.

you missed something very important. does the new strap keep the vive from moving on you face when you turned your head or when looking down 90% or more . on the old strap, because of it was elastic and the vive is a bit heavy, it would slightly shift position on your face when turning your head side do side, plus when looking down 90% or more, the vive would become loose and move on your face.

I bought the vive audio strap bundle and the audio strap arrived before the vive, and I was horrified at how flimsy and cheap the headphones felt. But, if what you said is true about the headphones, I'll be good with them. Worst comes to worst I just hook my current set up with them.

I thought about getting this for parties where a lot of people are using it and constantly taking it on and off. A few of my friends slept over at my house, and we ended up playing Gorn all night, but because of the massive inconvenience, we ended up not using headphones at all, because it was one extra thing to put on / take off. So I'd say if you're going to have people taking turns all the time, it would definitely be worth it.

My only issues with the DAS is it doesn't act as a halo strap so there is still pressure on the face (although not as imbalanced), it does increase the weight a bit noticably so if you're turning your head a lot you will feel it, and the speakers aren't snug enough against my ears to generate good bass.

@TribalInstincts Did you try different thicknesses of padding/foam? wich one is more comfortable for you? I'm thinking of getting the 6mm but this might be too thin because the deluxe audio strap makes it more tighter.

  • @TribalInstincts

    @TribalInstincts

    7 жыл бұрын

This doesn't make the pressure on your face tighter actually. It does a better job of distributing weight so it actually frees up some of the pressure on the face. I use the 6mm myself quite comfortably.

Can the headphones be removed? And do you have any experience with the Koss Porta Pro headphones? It’s what I’m using right now and I think they are great. I’ve only tried 2 “gaming headphones” before, but neither of them was better or even comparable to the Porta Pro. That’s why I’m wondering if you have tried those and could compare the audio quality.

This doesn't really change anything there to be honest. The HMD itself is still in the same position. I suppose it could be slightly easier now though since it is much easier to adjust the strap end with one hand? I wouldn't use that as a buying factor though as the difference will be negligible imo.

Thanks for the review! Few quick questions, if you don't mind. I still have the old ribbon style 3 in 1 cable. Is that an issue with this add-on? Also, the original Vive strap is very loose on my kids' heads with the velcro on it's tightest setting. Does this fit easier on smaller heads without sliding down the face? Finally, the old strap is immensely painful to the top of my ears after an hour or so of play, especially if the strap goes in the area above my ears (like glasses), and is uncomfortable and unstable if I just overlap my ears. Is this an improvement in that regard? Thanks! For comparison, the PSVR fits me better but is not comfortable to me. The Oculus (CV) is the most comfortable for me. The Oculus DK2 was less comfortable than the Vive for me, but was more stable and moved around less on my head. The DK1, I can't remember but I think was about the same on me as the DK2. Every random Google Cardboard device I've used are very uncomfortable and the Gear VR is about like the DK1 and DK2 for me.

I was able to get this from Gamestop for $49.99 because they put the wrong tag on it. It is a HUGE improvement in Comfort and ease of use. I tend to play the Vive with my family and friends taking turns trying to beat each others high scores. With the old strap and Headphone combo switching players was a cumbersome and frustrating task because we all have very different size heads. The Deluxe Audio Strap makes switching between players much faster and easier. The audio quality is far better than I expected it to be and the Earpieces adjust to sit very comfortably on the ear. Highly recomended.

My biggest concern is the audio as my current headphones go from 15hz-24khz, are stereo, and in testing provide good 3d audio. Turtle Beach headphones are overpriced for their quality so if that is only best reference point for audio than that is not saying much. Also my headphones were only just over $50 but were designed for the music industry so are much better even at that price than any gaming headsets out there, but of course they don't have an attached microphone. Also because they are studio headphones the cable is about 10' long so no issue using them with walking around in VR. Some Velcro zip ties around all of the cables and I basically have one thick cable coming off of my head. It would be nice to see a slightly cheaper version without the headphones and just the better strap. I would say however, if you plan on getting the TPCAST as well then this is a must so you are completely wireless, assuming the TPCAST will work with the Deluxe Audio Strap.

Try some Shure SE205 headphones, dude. Nicely priced, unbelievable sound quality, separation and imaging, weigh so little you forget you're wearing them, are 90% noise cancelling, and you can use them for any application, ie walking in town, etc. Also, they're buds, but then have, roughly, 2 inches of moldable cable so you can wrap it around your ear so they never fall out (I use them for skateboarding and they never even come loose). The sound quality on these is ok if you think Beats are good. Can I ask what you've replaced the foam with on your headset? Peace.

  • @johnberkow2456

These are better than beats. They are not priced the same as beats. That would feel horrible on a vr headset. And yes you would know your wearing them because it would collide with the material and make loud noises. Bad idea.

One of the biggest complaints about the Vive has always been balance. It's been too front heavy. Does this offset the front heavy aspect?

I understand that it does more than just add headphones, but is it really better than just using Bluetooth headphones?

I recently discovered plastic welding with a soldering iron. Now when I break something that's made of plastic it gives me an excuse to melt stuff. The result is always better than glue, but messier. And it's strangely satisfying..

For, comfort end adjustment wise yet. 100%. If the speakers are no better than the quest 2’s. If anything my quest 2’s speakers are louder.

I'll really consider buying this because I hate the original strap thing. I always have difficulties putting it on, and after putting it again and again a few straps are broken :) how old is your son? Mine is 5 years old and I wonder if he can use the vive with this stuff. Also look at old vive, the cables are on the top so you can scratch it as far as you want :)

I think you did not say if this holds the vive better on your head? like does it support more from the back of your head so when you look straight down, it holds it in place better than with the velcro straps? because that is one thing that is not so good with the original strap. When I look down, if the vive is not very tightly put on it does not quite stay in place. Is this better in that?
