Is It Viton? A Simple Test

This valid point was recently raised.
"It's easy to claim your using what you say you are, but much harder to prove it. After all, it is just a rubber ring. I'm not exactly going to have it sent off for analysis."
To answer that we present this simple test. We devised this procedure ourselves and had it confirmed as a valid method by a materials lab that we use in the USA. We use it on random samples of our products as part of quality control.

I use water and salt. I submerge viton and other O rings in the water and add salt, stirring until the nitrile rings float. 3rd grade physics. I have no way to measure value of gravity of my solution. I only can taste it with my salad. This test is not a composition analysis but I am demonstrating that the seals that float aren´t viton and I can conclude that I won´t use them in my Mineral Oil operated motorcycle clutch press. Thanks for your video. It inspired me to try and test my own way without the use of acids.

Simple test - just use concentrated sulphuric acid ;) In the next episode - an easy method of detecting sugar in food with the use of Large Hadron Collider.

I need a dense fluid to float this sample on... I know! Let's use concentrated sulfuric acid! :D

Just measure the seal weight. The heavier one is Viton.
