People find it Jarring when they are on official duties, not on their private time. In my opinion. Everything I see now Prince Harold Isn’t allowed to not hold his wife’s hand. She has been connected to him at every second. That's like asking if it's protocol to be human. I mean, what's the point of all the protocol? It's like this big show that went too far. They (RF, heads of state) need to remember that they are people dealing with people. Things got so stuffy and rigid under QEII it was no longer about family, it was about military deportment and being the "firm"; a caricature of the military-industrial complex. Scary. I think, going all the way back, royals were taught to be terrified of not being taken seriously so they hid behind this veil of importance. (Reminds me of birds that fluff up their feathers to ward off potential danger.) The RF is heavily engaged with charities and the public. This is what gives them credibility. The world is going through tough times now. Having people who are caring, are on their side, who are offering relief and comfort and sharing their family life in common will give them all the credibility they could ever need. People want a saner, softer, quieter family centered world. If families are in tact and making it, people just feel safer and consequently happier and more comfortable. As for protocol, let's not lose sight of what's important in todays world: looking like an antiquated stuffed shirts, or looking like people the public can relate to as extended family?

It’s not the hand holding. It’s the pushing in front like she’s more important than Harry and needs to be first.

The difference between Harry and Meghan was they showed up to work events and did this. They were there for travel, patronages, there in the Queen’s name and they held hands or she clung to his side. On numerous occasions is was seen that this was done as an attempt to block interaction with people, which was rude. William and Kate do not do this. They have occasionally held hands for emotional moments, and on their way out of an event after meeting people. You do not see them doing it to block social interaction.

Charles and Camilla show affection in public and other Royals do so too. Why attack people for showing affection? What is wrong with you people double standards and hypocrisy is dripping not cute

For the RF holding hands at a public event makes it awkward to shake hands with the audience or to receive flowers. It also makes it feel like a barrier between the couple and the people attending the event. If i was at work, i wouldn't hold my husband's hand. it's not professional.
