Is it NOW or NEVER to buy a 2022 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro V8?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Sequoia is Toyota's largest SUV and for 2022 the TRD Pro still is ready for off roading. On the outside you will discover unique TRD Pro finishes to the grill, wheels, badging, roof rack, and side steps. On the inside there is red stitching with TRD Pro embroidery, 7in infotainment system, and leather wrapped steering wheel. Under the hood is the tried and true 5.7L V8 that pumps out 381HP & is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Is it NOW or NEVER to buy a 2022 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro V8?

This thing is freaking amazing! If you are considering getting an SUV, I highly recommend this one over any highlander or minivan. It has a great engine, very practical, and so reliable it can get you to hell and back. Wether you’re going skiing, off roading in the Utah wilderness, or just carpooling kids to school, this is best in class. Coming from a two time Sequoia owner. Get yours now while it has the V8!

The Sequoia has been out for many years now has aged well. I wonder how the 2023 will look like?. It does have some old fashion fit and finish materials time for new design even Armada and Expedition got a designed few years back got some major or minor changes. One thing these trucks are extremely reliable run ton of miles.

Great review! We purchased a 2021 TRD Pro Sequoia and couldn't be more happy. Ultimately, this will either be the best purchase you've ever made or you may simply be throwing your money away, because it all boils down to your specific needs. Living in a more rugged and remote region of Wyoming, our TRD Sequoia spends 70% of its time on paved roads, 25% loose gravel, and 5% trail. It performs amazing in winter conditions, which we need, because we have the potential to receive snow during any given month. Our TRD Pro Sequoia helped to transport health care and emergency response workers during our most recent snowmageddon event, which dumped 28+ inches of snow within a 24 hour period and stranded many vehicles. It has ensured that we have made it back home safely after each and every one of our overlanding adventures, which often span hundreds of miles on dirt trails in some of the most remote regions of our state. I've also had the pleasure of rescuing several large trucks, 4runners, and a Tahoe z71 that was out of its element. I don't care if the interior is outdated, or if it's missing many modern comfort features because I need a vehicle that can handle the absolute worst and most grueling terrain and weather conditions possible, as well as get my kids to and from their various events safely. However, if this vehicle is going to stay on paved surfaces in a mild climate then there are more practical options. My only complaints about the vehicle are as follows... 1. Limited range. I wish the fuel tank were larger. I hate having to haul extra fuel tanks if it can be avoided. The average distance between towns in Wyoming is 100+ miles so stopping to refuel at any moment isn't realistic. 2. The head unit is easily the worst part of the vehicle. Toyota tried to update the technology and did a poor job. I'm thankful that they didn't throw some trash 9+ screen in the vehicle, which seems to be a common trend, but I wish they had simply kept a simple head unit with an auxiliary port instead. Because the unit is missing an aux port and cd-player, the only practical option is to buy a Bluetooth device for listening to music.

I literally just bought a Sequoia for this exact reason, last of the V-8’s. I’ve also got a 5.7 Tundra and work on my trucks myself and this platform is simple, reliable, and just plain works when you need it. It’s a philosophy that is often lost on the new crowd of buyers who often want the “newest tech” and often take everything into the dealer and blindly hope for the best. These are trucks that you can still work on yourself, they’re relatively simple, and parts are plentiful as a ton were made. In the end, yes gas is an expense but you will win out in the end when you’re never broken down and what does break will be a relatively simple fix. Sometimes “low-tech” is just better. Oh, and resale value is through the roof.

My 2009 AWD 5.7 L SEQUOIA, has 345,000 miles. However, I had to replace the engine due to probably not doing proper maintenance, ( either by me or the previous owner ). Transmission still works, but there is some sensor problem, that I have not been able to get fixed, due to mechanics not understanding the issue. Sequoias are not for poor people. They guzzle gas and repairs are outrageously costly. Used parts are impossible to find where I live. Why would anybody want aluminum rims on an off-road vehicle.... especially those. Great vehicle, but over-priced and the competition offers better off-road vehicles if you can afford to buy those. I am driving my 2009 Sequoia until I croak. And the next owner will have fun turning it in to something cool.

Going to wait one more year. Extremely tempted to go get a 2022 Armada BUT the armada doesn’t have an LSD and the giant screen in the infotainment is really only 1/2 the size as it’s not all usable! But the main reason I have is because if the tiny 3rd row space but it’s similar to this. Man I hate that tail door Ux/ix on the sequoia.

Joe, now that you've seen the redesigned Sequoia which one do you prefer? I still like the old school, tried and true V8 and 6 speed trans. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I have an 07 tundra and like my tundra. Reliable and with the 5.7 and even better is simple and has timing chain. Nothing but oil changes ven tho the gas is not great I'm still getting over 300 miles on a full tank.

I LOVE everything about this HUGE, "old-school", super reliable gas guzzler. Getting old and stuck in my ways. Not a fan of menus, 50" 'infotainment' screens, cylinder deactivation, engine on/off, nubby little transmission levers, or even worse, the dials, e-parking brakes. I can't afford a new one, my current truck runs great, and I'd need a new house too, because this thing wouldn't fit in my garage, but I get sad thinking that this is the END of an era for the Sequoia (and vehicles like it). Electric vehicles are better for the environment, BUT, they just seem too sterile and disconnected from the "driving experience"..............the mechanical engagement of a transfer case, the growl of a V-8 engine, and the sound of the exhaust note. Younger people tend not to care about those things.............and marketing is geared to that precious 24 to 40 demographic.
