so i just bought two 1100 watt rms 12 inch audio pipes that i can drop below 1 ohm together. i also bought one boss 3400 watt class d mono amp to run them, rated at 2550rms at 1 ohm. the amp is 1 ohm stable. i have plans on upgrading the alternator, not so much a second battery. will my system "essentially" by okay? i also have an amp at 80 watts for 4 channels running my component speakers. i do plan on upgrading the wiring to the alternator and grounds when i set this system up, gotta wait for the store to open to by my wires. i could run my subs at 2 ohms but with half the power the of the amp. i would prefer to run them in parallel all the way, but i don't want to kill the amp or alternator real quick. i want time to find the right alternator and have time to plan out a second battery install. i am automotive electrically and mechanically inclined. i essentially know what i am doing as i have extensive experience in diagnosing electrical issues in vehicles. this is my daily driver so the most i actually use the stereo, and what not, is about 2 hours at most a day. usually for my daily errands, since i am currently unemployed. when i am employee'd, my usage is still about the same. not sure what else to ask about, the amp is 1 ohm stable, i want to wire my subs below 1 ohm, i have a second amp running about 80 watts per channel at 4 ohms 4 channels, plan on using 0 gauge for the sub amp and keep the components at 8 gauge, the subs will have 8 gauge speaker wires, the sub amp is 3400 watt rms according to the boss at 1 ohm. alternator is probably stock at less then 120 amps. any questions, just ask. i can most likely answer them...

Cool vid bro... I am sub'd now, I'm new to ametur competitive bass... I got 2 FU750 18s on a 2k alphard audio amp 260aH of batteries big 4 upgrade with 2/0 welding ofc n 8g ofc for sub wires. But looking to add additional 2more 18s I would like to run a .5 strapped to 1ohm hitting around 4k to 6k but I'm not sure what amps I should check out... May upgrade my FU750s to the FU2000 SPLs before changing over to 4x 18s because powering 2 FU2000s will need at least one 5k amp per set... Was thinking Crescendo 5500s but dam that shit is expensive... I just ordered a 300amp hair pin alt costed me $550 and I know I'm gonna need another one eventually too

Strapping vs gain matching depends on the sub setup too. I had two amps that were not strappable so I gain matched them. If they were strappable I would have been able to write to 1ohm total, .5 ohm at each amp. But since I had to gain match I could only run them at 2ohm a piece with dvc 4 subs.

I know this is an old video but I have the ohm/wattage issue. No matter the combo I choose I have the wrong impeadence to upgrade without dumping my amp n spending pile of money I have 2 AB XR D4 15s rated 1500wrms each . There wired at 1 ohm on an Audiopipe apcle1800 it only pushes them to 60% movement. if I buy another and strap I'm at .5 ohm to each amp. They dyno almost 3k at .5 ohm so that's 5900ish watts 2 strapped. More than I need I need about 3ish k. So these APs running at .5 ohm at 60ish% capacity wouldnt be to hard on the amps would it? Yes the charging system still b taxed n need decent upgrades even amps running at partial capacity.. the 140A alternator OEM holds 13s easy with just 1 1800.1 and a small 50x4 amp. An extra standard car batt and a 250a OEM style alt would be bout all I can swing in near future. I really wanna see those XRs jump they dont move alot on 1800 and still flex a grand caravan pretty respectable so real wattage should be impressive even with. Lowered wattage from box rise. Any input b appreciated thanks

President Durden I would get the biggest HO Alt you can afford/get for your vehicle(275amps+) and 2-3 group 31 AGM Batteries. Always do Big 3(4) upgrading/adding 0 gauge all around your vehicles electrical wiring. That’s a really beast amp and will draw over 500 amps at half ohm so definitely run two 0 gauge runs to the batteries. That would be if you wanted to hold good voltage. Minimal I would do HO alt and a second battery and watch voltage to not go under 12volt range and use fans.

Does anyone really know what impedance and ohm ratings are ? It is resistance placed upon the mosfet output devices, the more resistance/lower impedance (ohms) the higher risk of POOF. Just because you can do it doesn't mean its the smart thing to do. This fascination with everyone wanting to dead short their amps (which is .01 to .02ohms btw) to get power is rediculous. Quick competition burps if your sponsored, by all means burn'em down. Those that live in the real world and have to buy everything, I'd think long and hard about even going below 2ohm much less .50ohms.

@jacobviral Question .... I waiting run 4 400rms dvc 4ohm subs. In parallel looks like .5 ohm is my option so I’m thinking total rms is 1600 so will it be safe to get a Korean board amp at 2000rms run it on the .5 ohm load and be safe? Electrical is upgraded and super strong and it will be daily driver. I meaywhats my other options buy a huge amp that does 1600 rms at 4 ohm but does 4000 or 5000 at 1 ohm..., seems a waste to do that

I mean, you could lso do two 1 ohm amplifiers over 1 half ohm amp, but your decision ultimately. I would get 2 1-1.5k amps and run 1 ohm per. You seem to have the elctrical so I'm sure you'll be fine with a korean at half ohm for a 2krms amp as another option. Goodluck

Gerardo 2051 so you got only 130 ah of battery between your vehicle and system. Even with that nice 270 amp alt, your going to be drawing a lot of power from that amp at half. You can always do it just not go full tilt. Watch voltage with a meter and just not drop under 12.6 voltage and should be fine. I Would definitely recommend at least 2 more xs d3400s to handle that amp well.

Jacob, since you are well informed, could you plz tell me how many watts I must be getting out of my Rockville DB16 wired at 2 ohms? Amp Dyno on YT (Budget Gem/Bust) says 1750 W Certified and 2250 Dynamic. Would that mean my subs are receiving less than that considering when I test my two 2-ohm DVC L7Ss (750 RMS ea.) wiring impedance at the speaker terminals my DVM says 2.7 Ohms (subs are facing up). I know I may be asking a lot but I don't know who I can trust to be well informed enough and that will take the time to provide an accurate answer. While I have your attention, I have one more quick important question that would mean a lot bro! Should I replace my two 12" Kicker (square) 44L7S122 (750rms) subs with two 15" EMF Lowballer (750+rms) subs?? I'm craving MORE DEEP BASS, like a 150 db but for under $200 ea. sub. I have zero clue how loud my system currently is with the DB16, Q-Bomb enclosure, all OFC, Big 3, LC7i, 2F Cap, SUV, and don't know how to find out without buying a meter but I've fine tuned it so fricken much that it now can be felt from maybe 150-200 yards away I'm conservatively presuming. If it'll help, I'll send you a link to a video I'll make of my current system. Thank you very much for taking 5 minutes to answer my two questions which I've been researching a ton but can't find definitive answers to.

Why not switch out those kickers for some American Bass XFL 12s rated at 1000w rms $180? or the 15s if you want to go bigger? Likewise with the amp best case scenario was 1750 at 14.4v and I'm not sure he mentioned what hz tone, so add the impedance rise, the electrical voltage drop, the dampening factor, the hz music etc and I dont think you are coming close to the 750rms rating of those subs. Perhaps an alternative might be to switch out that amp for an Orion xtr 2500 which BigDWiz dynoed and is a monster rated 1600 at 2 ohms and only 12.6v which in all likely hood would do way more as these amps are highly under rated with higher damping factor for cleaner power throughout. Ive likewise been doing a lot of research and so far the one thing I'm certain is my next amp will most definitely be an orion not sure if I should get the xtr 2500 or go all out on the hcca 5k. Either way they both blew away the competition dc, sundown, skar, etc not even close. Likewise I think the American bass xfl line overall provides the best value all considering. Edit update: From the BigDWiz dyno the Orion xtr 2500 at 2ohms certified 2435w 13.7v dynamic was 3523w! This amp ain't playing no games!!! insane numbers!

I would definitely ensure you have a volt meter to keep up with your voltage and ensure you don't drop below 12.6volts which means have great electrical. Ensure to keep up with the heat coming from the casing of ran at 0.5 ohm to. Also that amp should do really well after rise for them subs to put the power it needs to get the best out of it running at half ohm just make sure you aren't clipping and that'll be a sweet setup!

You have over 300 amps of charging and supplying over 300 amps of battery so you should be just fine at half BUT I would suggest keeping a volt meter around to know your voltage Incase because it’ll depend on your Box rise for your amp output and draw. • @JacobViral

    @JacobViral

    5 жыл бұрын

If you strapped two amplifiers to .67 ohm then it would drop to 0.33 ohm per amplifier and that is danger zone so you would want to probably get a single larger amplifier to run at 0.67 or change the wiring to a higher impedance to strap two amplifiers. The answer is yes you can strap two amps to 3 subs as long as all 3 are wired together to get equal power and not wire down to low.

John VanCamp hey man, the first step you can do if figure out how much box rise your setup has by seeing the amount of current draw and calculating the Watts your clamping and seeing what ohm your rising to. Your running 1500 watt amp, but realistically it would be all about how your settting are. If it was me, you can always just turn down the gain a little or control the volume and watch the voltage and see how hot the amp gets when your playing to keep up with it and learn how it does with your system. I’ve heard others running those amps at half and do fine as long as your not dogging them out and clipping. For your alternator, if it’s not an option than more battery capacity is the next option BUT you can would just to sometimes allow the batteries to charge with playing sometimes so it doesn’t discharge more than recharge.

Lower Impedance means the mosfets have to cope with more current through them, and at a lower voltage. At 1 ohm the voltage and amperage output are the same, at 0.5 the amperage is double the voltage. Mosfets can only cope with the current they are rated too before there is a high risk of thermal damage. This is where they got too hot for the material in the chip to cope and it melts, at which point they tend to short circuit which is obviously very bad. I've learnt a fair bit about it as I run 0.25 daily on a 8.5k.

So I have tested both myself. So I had 4 Runs of 0 Gauge CCA and changed all 4 runs to OFC 100% Oxygen Free Copper and noticed my wires near that amp were not as warm, gave me better grounds, and seemed to have better current flow for my alternator to charge my system. I used to drop into the mid 11 volt range and after changing wires and adding 2 more grounds from my batteries, all being OFC, there was at least a 0.6-0.8v difference I noticed while playing. I wish I would've made videos of before and after but it definitely helps PLUS your Wires will last a lot longer. CCA burns up faster overtime as well.

Think of it this way, if you were to run a 250amp rated wire at 20' CCA and 350amp rated wire at 20' OFC, same lengths and same amps drawing same current, than there would be an electrical difference in the output from CCA to OFC. Most wiring issues result from bad fusing/grounds or pulling to much current from a wire not rated for that current like a 200 amps of current draw from 150amp rated wire. That's also why its best to double up if able. :)

@@JacobViral I know you have been in hundreds of different cars and seen and talked to a lot of people. I follow your channel and have for sometime now. What you are doing is great and a service to the bass community. I have a question in your experience and the people and set ups you have seen. Do you get more box rise out of a six order, fourth order, or bass reflex enclosure? I planning another sixth order wall wall build for to NS v4 12s and a salt six but when I wire my subs down I’m at .4 they are new subs d2s and was also wondering if they will come up in ohms any after break inn? I’m kinda counting on box rise. Thank you in advance.

@@jasenlauver4862 you can’t know exactly how box rise will be until after the initial turn on. You can control rise through readjusting the box specs of the ports and cubic space though which will help. I wouldn’t worry about it, just do what your planning on and when the time comes you’ll see the results. Overall 6th will give you the best bandwidth results.

U jus can't expect that period everybody setup is different so it's still at your OWN risk....he jus suggesting what u should do an have if your thinking about wiring at half ohm....owning expensive equipment an doin something that is not warrantied has got to make any owner a little bit leary of doin such a thing good luck

I would advise against .5 ohm unless your amp is warrantied for .5 ohm...and you need to understand going below 1 ohm in some instances can drastically lower the life of your amp...better to play it safe and save your money...if you want the power that .5 ohm will give you i suggest going with a bigger amp

Running at .5 ohm or lower will fry your amps without proper wiring or power supplying and most amps wont even handle half ohm loads if its truly a half ohm you should know what your doing already if you dont your just wasting money and time you can get just as much out of a 1000 watts as you can 10,000 you need to know what your doing Its all about the enclosure not the speaker
