Even if Islam says in public that a fight is easy for him (if I understood correctly it's his opinion about his style being a nightmare match for Dustin's).. I can't believe Eagles team is capable of overlooking or underestimating their opponent because 'studying the fight' seems such a regimented part of their camp. When you study to gameplan, you're bound to see the good aspects of your rival as well as his faults. They tailor fit their game to suit the current challenge, no way they don't know Dustin's strengths. Note when Islam went home to Dagestan frm Perth.. one of the first things he did was go to Khabib's to watch tapes of his match against Volk to study mistakes he made. Khabib also during his career had post assessment of his performances done by his dad. If they do that after their fights (even after winning), imagine the efforts they make to study their opponents during camp. And Khabib is also such a control freak, you can trust he won't let anyone on his team slacking on gameplan. Plus he genuinely seem to like poring over tapes/games to analyze.. can't imagine he'll let the team miss out on his findings.

It's such an interesting fight because Khabib played to strengths greater than Islam's (chain wrestling and ground and pound) to maul far DP better than any of his other defences and almost totally refused to strike or stand with DP. Whereas Islam has better striking than Khabib and likes to stand with opponents, will he take DP out or could this give him the chance he needs to do it to Islam? Will Islam chain wrestle, will he be as effective as Khabib, let alone outright mauling? Many questions.

Volk rocked Islam several times and almost knocked him out with about 1:30 left in the last round. If Volk would have tried to finish him he likely would have got the KO. If Poirier lands a clean shot he can absolutely knock out Islam! Poiriers power is on another level than Volk. Poiriers wrestling is good enough to buy him time and chances to get back to the feet for at least a few rounds. Khabib took a while to finish Poirier and Porier was able to get up against Khabib. Islam isn’t quite as good of a wrestler as Khabib and Poirier has gotten better since then. He’s also fought a guy nearly identical to Islam before so he knows what to expect and prepare for this time. Islam is a terrible matchup for Poirier and he probably wins but you can’t count Poirier out. He has 1 punch power and he can catch anyone any time.
