I read the book of Isaiah last year and the person Isaiah 53 was referring to was supposed to see his offsprings. That means the person was supposed to have children and see his grandchildren too. Isaiah 53:10. The Quran said " seeking knowledge is compulsory for both men and women. Please, let's be eager to learn. Knowledge is the key to success. May Allah SWT increase us all in knowledge, understanding, and guidance. Aameen Ya'Allah.

It doesn't make sense at all, see the refutation by Islam Critiqued. The only source this man quotes is Bart Ehrman, who is NOT an Old Testament scholar. For the rest, it surprises me that muslims always fall for the claims like " many scholars say..." or "it is widely believed..." or "it is assumed that...". As soon as it fits their beliefs there is apparently no need to give any evidence for claims like this - even though they're completely false.

The Anonymous writer of Mathew and Peter may have thought that Isaiah 53 was talking about Jesus, but that doesn't mean that they were correct. Much like how the gospels get some parts wrong compared to other gospel writers.

@@David.McDonald For example, Matthew ripped half of the verse in Hosea 11 to make the prophecy of Jesus: “He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, ‘OUT OF EGYPT I CALLED MY SON.’” (Matthew 2:15) But when we read the full verse in context, the passage has nothing to do with Jesus, it talks about the nation of Israel after slavery in Egpyt: “When Israel was a child I loved him, out of Egypt I called my son.” (Hosea 11:1) We see how Matthew ignore the full text by ripped the half of the text

@antony Sebastian try and read the book of Acts. You'll see how the Bible writers manipulated man and corrupt the Jewish scripture. Whenever they make a reference or quote OT, try and look it up in the OT - You'll see how they twisted and put words in Jesus' mouth.

@@teachmetheway7081 well why don’t we just say that the true God is the Father? the son always worship and pray to his Father no? in reality christian only talk bout jesus as god and forget the father and holy spirit. before jesus born, was it twinity and not trinity? why no prophets before jesus ever talk about trinity concept, instead they only say that God is only one and nobody mentions bout trinity or jesus name? would jesus offer himself to be crucified even if none wants kill him? or would he commit suicide? or simply ask someone to kill him on the cross? why did he suddenly decide to die for our sins? can’t he as God just clean all of our sins without killing himself?

@@meloza Christians do refer to Father and Holy Spirit as God. But recall our most direct contact with God has been and is in the person of Jesus! When a parent allows his child to answer the phone the caller must first honor the child before trying to meet with the Father. We never knew God the Father before in any case so it is only fair we honor the Son "more". Understand the Father can't even meet with us because of sin. If He were to reveal Himself we would not live. However, He made provisions for us However to be reconciled.

Let's consider if what Bart Ehrman says is true. 1. He said the Hebrew prophets were not predicting things that were to happen in the future. What nonsense. Listen to Isaiah. Isa_42:9 See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you." Ehrman has not read Isaiah. 2. Ehrman says that Isaiah 53 is not talking about the future at all and the verbs show this. No they do not. Future prophecies in Isaiah are often said in the perfect tense, as they are in the Qur'an, for instance Isaiah 9 is about the Messiah bringing the everlasting kingdom of God, clearly future, yet spoken as completed. 3. He says it is not about the Messiah at all. Of course it is if you had read Isaiah. Isaiah 53 is about the faithful remnant of Israel and the book of Isaiah says that the Messiah will be this faithful remnant. This is seen in the Jewish Targum from around the time of Jesus. It identifies the servant of Isaiah 53 as the Messiah: "Behold, my servant, the Anointed One (or, the Messiah), shall prosper; he shall be exalted, and increase, and be very strong. As the house of Israel hoped (or, waited) for him many days ..." (Targum of Isaiah 52:13-14) This interpretation comes from the observation that the Messiah is the righteous one (Is. 9:6-7, 11:1ff) and the salvation of Isaiah 53 brings the Messianic covenant (Is. 55:3). 4. Ehrman says it is about Israel not the Messiah. Please read Isaiah. The Messiah is the true Israelite who fulfils the destiny of Israel. Ehrman has made a distinction that does not exist. What the king does he does for the nation. Again, if Ehrman had read Isaiah he would see this: Isa 49:3 He said to me, "You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor." Isa 49:4 But I said, "I have labored to no purpose; I have spent my strength in vain and for nothing. Yet what is due me is in the LORD's hand, and my reward is with my God." Isa 49:5 And now the LORD says- he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the LORD and my God has been my strength- Isa 49:6 he says: "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth." Notice how the servant is going to bring back Jacob (Israel) and then be a light to the nations. That is, this faithful Israelite will have a ministry to Israel and then to the nations.

Good points. It's also worth mentioning that the notion Isaiah 53 is about the Messiah is the oldest and likely the most historically widespread Jewish interpretation attested concerning this passage. That would seem to indicate an ancient provenance for the idea, and Jews are hardly likely to adopt, and in such vast numbers, a Biblical interpretation that is so heavily favourable to Christianity. It would be like the most significant theologians in Christianity coming to an agreement that Isaiah 42 is about Muhammad.

@You Say This is stupid. We're talking about establishing the origin of the Suffering Servant-Messiah concept. If we can find this interpretation supported in sources that have, if anything, an anti-Christian bias then that is pretty strong evidence for the view that it's not just a convenient Christian invention.

@antony Sebastian I responded to this. Singer is not a scholar of Judaism, he's a Jewish missionary. I quoted Daniel Boyarin, who is a recognized and respected Jewish scholar of Judaism, showing that the interpretation of Isaiah 53 as referring to the Messiah was the dominant interpretation among late-ancient Jews and perhaps the majority view throughout Jewish history.

Christians are in no doubt about the crucifixion. It is actually Muslims who are in doubt about it. There are at least nine theories that Muslim leaders have about what happened to Jesus. 1. No one was crucified. It was a vision. 2. No one was crucified. It is a myth. 3. Someone was substituted for Jesus. 4. We do not know what happened. 5. Jesus was crucified by the Romans, not the Jewish Leaders. 6. Jesus’ body was crucified, but his soul was taken without death. 7. Refuting the Jewish Talmud 8. Jesus was crucified but survived. 9. Jesus was crucified, and the Qur’an is describing him as a martyr. The Qur’an explicitly states that the Jews did not succeed in putting Jesus to death and that Allah raised him to Himself, but it is silent about the nature and details of the matter and does neither say explicitly whether Allah raised him body and soul together from the earth to some place in heaven, nor that he died like other mortals and only his soul was raised to heaven. Quran chapter Mary verse 33 we read: So Peace is upon me the day I was born, and the day I will die, and the Day I get resurrected alive. Quran 5:116-119 The miracle of Jonah is that he was 3 days and 3 nights alive in the belly of fish and there is is no mention in the bible that Jonah rose from the dead, so Jesus telling you that he was alive as Jonah was because when the disciples of Jesus saw him after the alleged crucifixion they were terrified as they thought they’ve seen the ghost because the have heard by hearsay that Jesus was put in the cross, Jesus assured them that he was not a spirit by asking them to handle him and see and sat and ate with them. Why would Jesus, who is God, call the Father “my God?” Why did Jesus pray if he is God himself?

Isaiah 53 is referring to the faithful remnant of Israel and not Jesus. In Isaiah 53:2-8, the kings of nations continue to humbly express their heartfelt confession. Only now they finally conclude that the nation of Israel suffered throughout their long and bitter exile as a result of the mindless sins of their own citizens. In the past, these world leaders surmised that the Jews were stricken and smitten by God because they stubbornly rejected the gods of the other nations. But now, as they bear witness to the glorious messianic redemption, they are astounded. They will finally grasp that Israel suffered as a result of the destructive arrogance and devastating reckless behavior of their own peoples. From Isaiah 53:9 through the following powerful chapters, the God of Israel alone is speaking. The Gentiles are listening silently. As in Isaiah 53, Isaiah 52 and 54 clearly identify Israel in the singular, suffering innocently as a result of the vile wickedness of the gentile nations. In addition, all three of these exhilarating chapters vividly describe the glorious redemption of Israel in full view of the gentiles, her former persecutors. For example, in Isaiah 52:4 the prophet recounts that “Assyria oppressed him [Israel] without cause.” This central theme conveyed Isaiah 52 - the nation of Israel innocently suffered as a single individual at the hands of the gentiles - is precisely the same underlying topic of Isaiah 53. In the following chapter, the motif remains unchanged. In Isaiah 54, the prophet recounts how Israel, in the singular, is “despised,” “forsaken,” and “afflicted.” These are the identical descriptions of the nation of Israel found in the previous chapter, Isaiah 53. Look at the following verses. Isaiah 52:4(nkjv): For thus says the Lord GOD: “My people went down at first Into Egypt to dwell there; Then the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.” Isaiah 54:6-11(niv): 6 The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit- a wife who married young, only to be rejected,” says your God. 7 “For a brief moment I abandoned you,….” 9…. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again….” 11 “Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,…” Above all verses clearly depict the nation of Israel as “despised, forsaken, afflicted” (Isaiah 54:6-11), and oppressed “without cause” (Isaiah 52:4) at the hands of the gentile nations. Now read Isaiah 53:2 (nkjv): For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. This imagery of a tree struggling to grow in dry earth is a metaphor for the Jewish struggle in exile. A young tender plant in dry ground appears that it will die. The Jews were always a small nation, at times as small as 2 million people, threatened with extinction. In this verse Isaiah describes Israel's miraculous return from exile, like a tender plant that sprouts from this dry ground. Isaiah 53:8 (nkjv): ….For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. The phrase “land of living” (Eretz HaChaim) refers specially to the land of Israel. Thus this verse “He was cut off from the land of the living” means exiled from the land of Israel. Isaiah 53:8 concludes with their stunning confession, “for the transgressions of My people (the gentile nations) He (the Jews) was stricken.” Now look, I am giving below more examples from the bible to support my explanations. Again look, "the land of the living" means "the land of Israel". Look at the following verses of Psalm. Psalm 27:13 (niv): I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 52:5-6 (niv): …. he will uproot you from the land of the living. 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you,… Psalm 142:5 (niv): I cry to you, LORD; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” Now read again Isaiah 53:8 (nkjv): ….For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. Now my question is that in Isaiah 53:8 who is confessing that "For the transgressions of My people He was stricken." Who is confessing here? Who is that "My"? The answer is “the kings of gentile nations” which clearly shows that the term "He" is referring to the nation of Israel as a whole. Now about Isaiah 53:10, what we have only seen so far for Isaiah 53:10 is the Christian translations, such as the KJV, or the NIV. But these translations are not accurate. So before discussing this verse, we should go to the following website to try to get an accurate translation (not one designed to appear prophetic) for Isaiah 53:10 from Hebrew text to English text. www.chabad.org/library/bible_cdo/aid/15984/jewish/Chapter-53.htm#v10 The Hebrew text is given as יוַֽיהֹוָ֞ה חָפֵ֚ץ דַּכְּאוֹ֙ הֶֽחֱלִ֔י אִם־תָּשִׂ֚ים אָשָׁם֙ נַפְשׁ֔וֹ יִרְאֶ֥ה זֶ֖רַע יַֽאֲרִ֣יךְ יָמִ֑ים וְחֵ֥פֶץ יְהֹוָ֖ה בְּיָד֥וֹ יִצְלָֽח: This is translated in Yeshayahu - Isaiah - Chapter 53: And the Lord wished to crush him, He made him ill; if his soul makes itself restitution, he shall see children, he shall prolong his days, and God's purpose shall prosper in his hand. Let's revisit the verse of Isaiah 53:10: "He desired to oppress him and He afflicted him; if his soul would acknowledge guilt he would see offspring and live long days and the desire or God would succeed in his hand." To clear your understanding more, let's revisit the verse of Isaiah 53:10 again: "The servant must admit his wrongdoings (guilt). If the servant does this then he will have a long life with many descendants." Now again read Isaiah 53:10 (KJV): he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. In Isaiah 53:10, you can see that the servant is promised long life and seed. Let’s explore this verse of Isaiah 53:10. To begin with, Jesus did not have any biological children. The Hebrew word זֶרַע (zerah), which appears in Isaiah 53:10 - it is the blessing bestowed on the servant - means “seed.” This Hebrew word can only refer to biological offspring when used in connection with a person’s children. Again the Hebrew translated as "long life" is the phrase יַאֲרִ֣יךְ יָמִ֑ים (ya’arich yamim). Both the NIV and KJV have translated this as "prolong his days" -- which means lengthen his physical life. The New Living Translation has "He will enjoy a long life". Jesus did not live a long life. He probably died at about age 33. So the passage says that the servant will live long life to see many physical offspring (children from his body) -- something that Jesus did not do either. Jesus was not rewarded with children and a long life. So this is not a legitimate prophecy about Jesus.

If he had really clarified this text he would not have darkened it by saying that prophets speak only of their immediate times. If so then your prophet muhammad could never speak of barefoot penniless arabs building tall buildings. Tovia Singer is not as credible as the deceased Rabbi Yitzhak Khaduri. Read what Khaduri wrote about who the messiah is. Tovia will only tell you what he wants you to hear. Let me make it clearer , if Jesus Christ owned KZread he would tell you Cyrus The Great really owns it. He defends so fiercely his view that he forgets this life among other things is about truth finding and living. Truth isn't a pillow for us to lay our weary head. It is the alarm bell that wakes you up from slumber! Nevertheless regard what Isaiah 50:11 declares: "But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. From the Booklet titled "The Jewish Response to a Christian Challenge" by Rabbi Michael Skobac (page 32). "Many Christian commentaries to Isaiah concede that this chapter is not about the Messiah or about Jesus. They understand that the Servant here is the nation of Israel (see The New Interpreter’s Study Bible; The HarperCollins Study Bible; The New English Bible (Oxford Study Edition); and Christopher R. North, The Suffering Servant in Deutero-Isaiah: An Historical and Critical Study, London, Oxford University Press, 1956). Why would they take such a view if the chapter were clearly portraying Jesus as the Messiah?

Objections to assumptions that Isaiah 53 is referring to a people: 1. The servant of Lord, pictured in the text, is first referred as the Arm of the Lord, but who is not recognized as such. Isaiah 53 : 1 "Who has believed our message? And to whom has the Arm of the LORD been revealed ?" If He is the Arm of the Lord, The Arm of the Lord is all powerful as God is all powerful, therefore it cannot be a people, because no people is all powerful. 2. Isaiah 53 : 8 "By oppression and by judgement He was taken away. Yet who of His generation protested? For He was cut off from the land of the living, FOR THE TRANSGRESSIONS OF MY PEOPLE, HE was punished". So that individual bears the transgressions of God's people among others. But if it is God's people who is bearing the transgressions of God's people, how can they also bear the transgressions of others as alluded in verse 12 and in Isaiah 52 : 15 ? 3: Isaiah 53 : 5 : "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." The servant of the Lord was "pierced". I thank God because He makes His Word clear enough for those who put their hope in Him. 4.Isaiah 53: 3-4_: "Surely He took on our infirmities and carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken by God, struck down and afflicted, But he was pierced for our transgressions,...". So He the Servant of the Lord is "considered" bearing the punishment for His own transgressions whereas in fact he was bearing the punishment for the transgressions of others. I don't know where this applies to a people, because the one supposedly referred here was deported in Babylon because of their transgressions. The punishment on the people was not assumed or "considered" as such, it was a fact, prophesied before it happened. 5. In the previous chapter that introduces the Servant of the Lord it is said in Isaiah 52 : 15 : "so He will sprinkle many nations..." in reference to the prophecy of Ezekiel 36 : 25 : "I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols." How can a people sprinkle clean "many nations", if that people itself had impurities. The Servant of the Lord had to be spotless to provide purification to "many nations", and many nations means what it says: many nations.

This Verse portrays Jesus EQUAL with those that are called "THE GREAT". WHO are they, that get EQUAL portions with Jesus? ​@@Toronado2 The "strong" in this context = the spiritually strong, that is the humble who inherit eternal life in verse 53:10 "he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;" - the 'offspring" are his spiritual offspring and these are described as the 'strong' in verse 12. You should realise that this where Jesus taught his disciples that they will be ruling with him in the coming Kingdom! They will be the offspring and the strong!

@@Toronado2 Because the "strong" are those spiritual offspring who have been made strong in Christ. Note that the word "only" is your word insertion - it has nothing to do with the text! "Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors." (Isaiah 53:12) >> your word "strong" is not any part of the text but merely your own imaginary insertion! Hello Paul. Watched a few of your videos and developed an inclination towards the content. You cannot clarify anything more than you already have. Now you know more than an average anybody in the subject of monotheism. Perhaps more. Suppose we meet on the day of judgement, hope we do, i am definitely taking you to meet Ibrahim, the true monotheist. He will be glad to meet you. You are doing what he was sent to do. Clarifying and teaching verses of God and imparting wisdom. He will be good company until the questioning begins. He is going to direct us towards Muhammad only because we are from Muhammad's nation. But still it will be a moment of bliss to see Ibrahim in person, on the way.

Where it clearly says messiah would be cut off they would surely deny all because Jesus is the only Jew with the strongest claim to messiahship who was killed("cut-off" having no one).

There are some problems with this presentation. But in short, the predominant view of Jews prior to AD 500 was that Isaiah 53 is about the Messiah. @@iihamed711 We don't have extant Jewish commentary on the passage from that time. The earliest Jewish commentary we have on the passage that I'm aware of is Targum Jonathan, from the around 150-200 AD, which states that Isaiah 53 is about the Messiah. But the pervasiveness and ancient-attestation of the interpretation is indicative of ancient provenance. Jews are not going to adopt, and in such vast numbers, an interpretation so central to Christianity. It would be like the the majority of the most authoritative theologians of Christianity agreeing that Isaiah 42 is about Muhammad.

@@Oxygen11115 No, Christ having two natures in one person is the orthodox view. Nestorianism says that Christ was two persons, the divine person and the human person. That Deuteronomy passage is most likely referring to Joshua and subsequent prophets anyway. And he's the servant of God the Father, being himself the Son.

Yes, Isaiah 53 is absolutely about Yeshua. Compare also with Isaiah 63:9. It is the Lord that saves. Man cannot save himself. The Lord performed signs and wonders through men like Moses and Aaron because they trusted in the Lord (not in themselves) to save them and guide them. All of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. There is none that does good. It has always been by faith, for Abraham believed God and it (Abraham's faith) was accounted to him for righteousness. Isaac was the child of faith, because they believed in God to keep his promise. Not Ishmael who was the child of works.

@39abat Jesus was a physical offspring of Abraham. Jesus came through Abraham's line of descendants. Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane. But when the soldiers arrested him he went willingly to the cross. When questioned by Pilate he did not protest his innocence, even though He was innocent. Jesus is the Lamb of God without blemish. Without sin. The perfect Passover Lamb to take away the sin of the world. When Jesus said "My Lord, My Lord, Why have you forsaken me?" he was not crying out to God as is generally taught. He was referencing Psalm 22. He was showing that he was fulfilling yet another messianic prophecy. Even in death, Jesus was still thinking of us.

@39abat Hi, no worries. What verse says "he will see his seed?" I dont know what you are referring to here. Jesus is Abraham's descendant in the flesh because his lineage geneology can be traced back to Abraham. See Matthew 1:1. The tanakh also prophesies of his lineage. Psalm 22 Is a messianic prophesy. In Jesus' day, it was common for the Jews to recite the first line of a particular passage of scripture since they didn't break it into chapter and verse. Therefore, its likely that when Jesus quoted the first line of what we see today as psalm 22, Jesus was giving his hearers a "reference point" to another particular prophecy that he fulfilled. In the psalm it references a parting of and casting lots for my garments, which is what the soldiers did after Jesus' death. The psalm also says "they pierced my hands and feet." Another clear reference to the crucifixion. These things did not happen to David. In psalm 110, David says "The Lord said to my Lord; sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool." What do you think that means?

Confused people... there are no "gods" in flesh and to believe as such is spiritual treason. Faith without works is dead and no amount of dying on a cross will extinguish this fact. Issac 53 is a verse that hurts a lot of ppl believes. Because it clearly describes Jesus as the suffering servant. Who will be the seed? The people of Israel? . You must read the verse again. Dont buy that nonsense about a metaphora. It clearly talks about a sinless servant who was removed from the land of the living. Who was rejected and dispiced by HIS (Not theirs) own people. Israel was punished several times for transgressions against God. So it is not a sinless servant. Not trying to convince anyone. If I understand Bart Ehrman right, he claims that the survant in Jes 53 is Israel. In 53:9 Isaiah claims ”He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth.” Does this sound like Israel? Was it not because of their sins Israel were ”destroyed and exiled by the Babylonians”.

Isaiah 53 is absolutely a Messianic prophecy, you have to read chapters 41-60 to get the full context.

Respect to you for sharing of your knowledge, but I believe that there is too much of a focus on the tense being used. Is it not possible that Isaiah was saying what he foresaw to happen through the power of God, which is why past tense was used (because he had a vision of it)? David was the King of Israel and Jesus is a direct decendent of him. My faith confirms this is about Jesus. The Holy Spirit speaks to me in ways that I cant explain in human terms but I was just thinking how I would like to read more about the messianic prophecy because I wanted to grow more in my relationship with God. I happened to turn to this particular scripture and read it without researching or googling first. I truly wanted to seek the Lord while He can be found (which I saw in Isaiah 55!) The Holy Spirit brought me here and confirmed it in my spirit. Take a look at John 3 to anyone reading this. If this helps you get closer to Jesus and accept His precious gift of love and sacrifice for you to live forever in the Kingdom of Heaven then glory to God! ❤❤❤

Not entirely true because Ezekiel did predict future events and also Enoch. Then you have Jesus being different from others prophets in that he had a precursor prophet , John the Baptist (whose sole purpose seemed to be preparing the arrival of Jesus). If the psalms call him “servant” then this proves prophethood and not “god”.

@@teachmetheway7081 why can't god die? because of something called a paradox. by Gods own admission he is eternal and immortal (we see many proofs of this in all 3 abrahamic books). If he is immortal, he then cannot die as he would no longer immortal. If God died, it would show that 1 he is weak. 2 he is a liar or changed his mind, and 3 he can be killed by his own creation and is no longer an immortal entity. This is the logical conclusion. God does not lie. God does not die. He is all knowing, eternal, and ever lasting.

If you really want to know who this is about then you must look at Isaiah 54 where it tells you this man is of the Smith bloodline from his father. These two chapters of Isaiah 53 and 54 gives a detailed account of the first person to have his Spirit killed and lose his Soul then get his Soul back with a new Spirit and a gender change in the Spirit. In other words, the first person to be Born Again of the Waters which Jesus specifically said he could not do.

It does not say he would die. Muslims think this verse argues that Jesus pbuh was not crucified or dead. I read it before and do think it says the coming Prophet would die.

@Shalom Shalom In hebrew means Mushlam (מושלם) a spiritually disciplined person

Of course if one views the Bible as real revelations containing real prophecies, they will view it as such and will see the clear evidences for the predictions, but if one has an atheistic view and does not believe in the idea of prophecies, they Must assume they do not refer to future predictions. Same is true of other scriptures as the Gospels, Mark is dated to be from 70 A.D why? Because in it Jesus accurately predicts the future destruction of the Temple which occured at 70 A.D. So as we can see if one does not believe in Revelation they will come to conclusion according to such a view. Jesus himself read from the book of Isaiah at the temple and he confirmed it spoke of HIM and he came to fulfill those prophecies. Jesus represents Israel, "The King of the Jews" which is why he is called Israel, similarly was true of other great Kings such as David who also represented Israel.

Interesting that you should reference the liar and charlatan Paul. In that very same chapter, Romans 10, Paul misrepresents God's Holy Word (as he did so often) and changes Scripture. Who in the world would do that?!? Only an evil person would change God's Word. In Deut. 30:8-14 God says: "And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the Lord, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day. And the Lord thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the Lord will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers: If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul. For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it." Paul once again lied when he quoted the Hebrew scriptures to the unlearned gentiles. In Romans 10:8 he says: “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.” That is NOT what the word of God says. It says "But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest DO IT." Paul was not an apostle. Only he claimed this. How many apostles did Jesus appoint? Twelve. And, looking forward in time, how many apostles did Jesus (through John, Rev. 21:14) say he has? "And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the TWELVE APOSTLES of the Lamb." Jesus, again through John, commended the Ephesians in Rev. 2:2 when he said: "I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars.” There can be no doubt that he was referring to Paul and his cohorts. Paul even laments this in 2 Tim. 1:15 when he said "This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me." Paul was a liar and a charlatan. There are many instances in the NT where you can catch Paul lying.

It can’t be talking about “Israel”, because that doesn’t make sense when applied to this sentence... “so shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭52:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬ It’s an undeniable truth that Jesus was presented to the Jews, the Son, by God. something they had never seen previously. The things he said had never been heard before, things such as “Love your enemy” “bless those who curse you” and everything he said, they did consider. Paul, you also bring up the idea that this was talking about someone that had already suffered in Isaiah’s time. This doesn’t correspond with this... “For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Notice it’s talking about one that is to come? Remember... “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8 The whole prophecy is mixed with past and future tense verbs. It’s clearly referring to Christ, speaking in Revelation saying “who is and who was and who is to come”, this is INDISPUTABLE Paul. Any Muslim that sees wisdom in this man, you forget what was written about the thoughts of men. This man quotes scholars as if the LORD our GOD has not declared... “The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, That they are vanity.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭94:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Consider these things, all the Muslims out there, when watching this man rely so heavily on “biblical scholars”. This man is full of deceit. His contempt for Christ is painfully obvious to any Christian. With that being said, consider this, friends... “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” ‭‭Daniel‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬ This man is the latter, be not deceived by him. I wonder why Paul never mentioned Isaiah 53 in any of his letters, even though he was highly learned in the Torah and Jewish Traditions. However, he still preached that Jesus was the Messiah and God in the flesh. Even Bart Erman agrees with this. So, regardless if Isaiah 53 is talking about Jesus or not, the NT is still littered with references as Jesus as the Messiah. Again, even Bart Erman agrees with this notion. I pray all Muslims wake up to the truth.

Interesting subject . To me the figure we are searching here is neither Jesus nor the last prophet Muhammad ( Saw ). That is because Qu’ran doesn’t tell us that Jesus Suffered the crucifixes . Not the last Prophet suffered Allah’s assault. Most likely it is a prophecy by an Hebrew author in the bible about the their last prophet who is Messiah.

The secret to Isa and the suffering servant is reincarnation of the literal Jacob. Remember that his name was changed. In Jacob’s vision of ascending and descending angels he was shown his future. He does have children in his last incarnation and among them is Shiloh. Shiloh comes through a daughter from David himself so the prophecy of the scepter departing from Judah will be fulfilled. Now you know why he will be despised and so hated.

I see you're appealing to Bart Ehrman for historical facts on the Bible. Yet that same Bart Ehrman said that it's a historical fact that Jesus was crucified. Do you agree with him?

Is it truly the nation of Israel (the Jewish people) as understood by Rabbinic scholar, Rashi? Or, is this mysterious chapter about G-ds Melech Mashiach (King Messiah) In Isaiah 49:3 we read, "He said to me, you are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified" Do you see how Isaiah himself is being referred to as 'Israel' G-ds servant? However, just two verses down in 5 and 6 we read, "And now the L-rd says, He who formed me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob back to Him and that Israel might be gathered to Him for I am honored in the eyes of the L-rd, and my G-d has become my strength He says, It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel" Do you see the switch in focus to another individual who will not only come from the womb of a woman but will also regather Israel/Lost Tribes. Clearly, the Messiah is being referenced here. Isaiah chapter 53 is no longer apart of the Haftarah readings of the Torah cycle. Jewish scholar Claude Montefiore states, "Because of the Christological interpretation given to the chapter by Christians it is omitted from the series of prophetical lessons for the Deuteronomy Sabbaths the omission is deliberate and striking" Messianic Talmudist scholar, Rachmiel Frydland states, "Our ancient commentators with one accord noted that the context clearly speaks of God’s Anointed One, the Messiah. The Aramaic translation of this chapter, ascribed to Rabbi Jonathan ben Uzziel, a disciple of Hillel who lived early in the second century c.e begins with the simple and worthy words" Here is the Aramaic Targum of Jonathan in reference to Isaiah chapter 53 he is referencing, "Behold my servant Messiah shall prosper, He shall be high, and increase, and be exceeding strong. As the house of Israel looked to Him through many days, because their countenance was darkened among the peoples, and their complexion beyond the sons of men" The Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Sanhedrin 98b offers the same interpretation as the Aramaic Targum, "What is the Messiah’s name? The Rabbis said, His name is 'the leper scholar' as it is written, “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows, yet we did esteem Him a leper, smitten of G-d, and afflicted" Similarly, in an explanation of Ruth 2:14 in the Midrash Rabbah we read, "He is speaking of the King Messiah, "Come hither,” draw near to the throne; “and eat of the bread,” that is, the bread of the Kingdom; “and dip thy morsel in the vinegar,” this refers to the chastisements, as it is said, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities" Texts relating to Jewish mysticism such as Zohar II, 212a also apply this chapter to the Messiah, "There is in the Garden of Eden a palace named the Palace of the Sons of Sickness. This palace the Messiah enters, and He summons every pain and every chastisement of Israel. All of these come and rest upon Him. And had He not thus lightened them upon Himself, there had been no man able to bear Israel's chastisements for the transgression of the law; as it is written, “Surely our sicknesses he has carried" Rabbi Yitzhak Abravanel states concerning Isaiah chapter 53, "Yonatan ben Uzziel’s interpretation that it was about the coming Messiah was also the opinion of the Sages (of blessed memory) as can be seen in much of their commentary" Midrash Konen when discussing Isaiah 53 puts these words in the mouth of Elijah the Prophet, "Thus says the Messiah, endure the sufferings and the sentence your Master who makes you suffer because of the sin of Yisroel. Thus it is written, He was wounded because of our transgressions, He was crushed because of our iniquities. Until the time the end comes"

Isaiah knew his wife and she had a son that she called Immanuel. To argue whether she was a young female that happened to be a virgin when Isaiah knew (impregnated) her is mind-numbing ignorant of the context. How anyone reads Jesus into that story is beyond common sense.

Imagine if they had wrote The Messiah will endure all those things mentioned and crucified... then it would not have happened lol some of the things Jesus endured are also in the songs of psalms once you truly believe and accept Jesus you can see He is all over the old testament

Isaiah 53 is 1 of 4 servant songs. If you read all 4 servant songs you'll see israel is the suffering servant. Even origen states that the jews by consensus saw isaiah 53 as israel and the messiah was supposed to die comparable to josiah in the bible. Not a god to die for the sins of the world

Also. I dont have to defend the marriage of the prophet obuh. If anything, in the bible, you marry raped virgins to their rapists and thats THE RAPIST'S punishment. @@omaralyafai2368 thanks for the reply 👍. (1) I could be wrong but the reference from origen that I've seen is that ONE Jewish rabbi he was in a dispute with claimed it referred to Israel! And we don't even know who this rabbi was! On the other hand we have statements from known scholars which I provided in my previous reply AND we have the words of MOSES MAIMONIDES nonetheless of whom the Jews say, "From Moses to Moses there was none like Moses"😏. (2) Even if it was the consensus of the Jewish community from ancient times (which it certainly wasn't) that Isaiah 52-53 referred to the nation there would be no reason to accept that interpretation over the overwhelming evidence from the text that it can't possibly refer to the nation. In fact the very fact that (1) the Jews make such a preposterous claim and (2) they skip this passage in the synagogue readings strongly suggests they are avoiding uncomfortable realities: "they will look on him whom they pierced and they shall mourn for him" (zechariah 12:10) (3) Isaiah 49 most certainly does NOT refer to the nation of Israel. Come on! Open your eyes! @@osamahoweitat6297 So you claim. It may help to realise that there is no "standard for scholarly use". Any such standardisation would by nature, result in potential mass error. Scholars are not limited to one translation and to impose such a short-sighted decision would result in scholars all making the same mistakes, by assuming that one translation is a perfect rendering of the Greek and Hebrew. No such perfect translation has ever been achieved and the reason is simple - there are complexities in the original languages, in which translators have to make decisions on the rendering into English and when doing this, one of the requirements involves interpretation issues. Where a verse or word can be translated into 2 varying meanings, the translator is forced to choose one of those meanings and thus has 'interpreted' the verse! This is not a problem, except that the reader must satisfy himself by viewing the other interpretations and this is usually done by parallel comparisons between different versions of the Bible text. These comparisons are highly informative and when the reader refers this question back to the original Greek and Hebrew, they are able to then make scholarly conclusions about the possible intentions of the original author. So no - I wouldn't make any such uninformed assertion about a "default" or "standard for scholarly use". No scholar worth reading would confine themselves to one translation, because every scholar or even knowledgeable reader should know that the best way of gaining a reasonable understanding is by using as many Bible resources as possible.

the words of God aren’t perfect and understandable enough so christian need to correct His words, with men interpretations, and sometimes could be wrong so they revise it. how then some verses are cancelled because the christian scholars found that they’re false verses. including the verse that actually clearly explain the trinity concept, but they found that it’s false. and today there’s no verse in bible talk clearly to the point about jesus as god or trinity.

He will see his offspring and God will prolong his days. ( You won't hear that part in Church) It also says he calls him from the ends of the earth, meaning future, and goes on the say it reminds him of the days of Noah, meaning hold on, she's gonna blow! This servant will live through the destruction, as did Noah, My opinion

Praise be to the One who has guided us and made us Muslims bowing to His Will. It is truly the greatest tragedy of human history that over a billion Christians stand alienated from the truth of Islam over a theology that is not even found in their own scripture. There is only one God, and Abraham, Moses, Noah, David, Jesus, Muhammad are the Messengers of God.

There are 2 servants in Isaiah, Jacob (Israel) and the Suffering Servant (the Mashiyach). Consider the impossibility of Israel bearing the sin of Israel in verse 8 making no literary sense “By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished” Isaiah 53:8 I would suggest reading Isaiah 52:13 to 53:12 for yourself and ask how this could possibly be referring to anyone but Y’shua. Personal integrity may be challenged by doing so. “and kings will shut their mouths because of Him” Isaiah 52:15 Bless you on your journey.

Isaiah 53 is a double edged sword. It doesn't talk about what prophet, how they would suffer, etc. It could be mohammed, or veyr indeed jesus but it doesn't talk about crucifixion.

It says "HE SHALL GROW UP A TENDER PLANT" not "HE GREW UP AS A TENDER PLANT " facts , also Isaiah seems to have prophecy through visions .

“He shall grow up as a tender plant” is based on by the KJV while many Bible versions read as “He grew up a tender plant” (NIV, NAB, NRSV)
