This video demonstrates how to make rosemary essential oil and hydrosol by steam distillation. A LETIME KD5 hydrosol distiller is presented in this video. By steam distilling dry rosemary leaf, we collected rosemary hydrosol and a little amount of oil.
We also discussed the chemical composition of rosemary essential oil and rosemary hydrosol. Scientific reports are also introduced explaining benefits of rosemary hydrosol.
I would love to share knowledge about botanical herbs including its benefits, how to use and extract backed by scientific studies. I am also excited in sharing hands on operation of extracting different herbs including leaves, roots, flowers, barks, and whole plants.

Thank you, very interesting. I would to know what's in Red Raspberry Leaf, Comfrey Leaf, Witch Hazel Leaf, Rosehip, Lemongrass, Dandelion Leaf, and Mullein Leaf. They're probably similar but it would be very interesting to know exactly what's in them. Even orange and lemon hydrosol I would love to know. These hydrosol I make regularly.

Interesting that you mention red raspberry leaf as a hydrosol. How do you use it? I used to make a tea and drink it to reduce menstrual cramps, which it did wonderfully.

Rosemary water or hydrosol which has more benefits??
Hi doctor I make at home rosemary water (heat water add rosemary and let it sit for 24h) does this have the same benefit as the rosemary hydrolat? I want to make a version with a preservative to make it last longer and want to know if that is possible with rosemary water

Decoction is a way to extract. It can normally last for 2-3 days and it can be longer in refrigerator. Hydrosol has way longer shelf life which can be longer than 12 months. Hi, hydrolat is a general term about water phase product of herb distillation and the oil phase is essential oil. Rosemary hydrosol is the same with rosemary hydrolate. However some products mislabeled their rosemary hydrosol which is mixture of rosemary oil and water with additives. So read carefully when purchasing rosemary hydrosol and make sure it is made by distillation.
