As a Swansea fan, his success with Brighton breaks my heart. Why did you leave us, Graham? We could have been the biggest water bird club - nobody likes gulls, Graham. A swan is far superior to a seagull. You’ve got a sexy beard now too - why are you making me feel like this?

Love watching Potters teams. Very smart coach, man manager... and seems like a decent guy as well. I know it might be very cliché and old school, but the only thing i would worry about with Potter is his ability to deal with high profile player egos. Nothing suggests he would't be great at it... but with all his teams, he has been the highest ranking guy at the club. I wonder how he would cope with trying to get players like Pogba or Aubameyang onboard. Not that he's really in contention for Arsenal or Man Utd... but ego is a tricky thing when trying to instill a style of play. Great vid :)

Tbh I don't think it's fair to expect any manager to create a cohesive unit with the insanely well paid prima donnas. There's a reason the teams with them serially underperform (recently Ronaldo, Pogba, Ney, Mbappe at Juve/United/PSG), irrespective of manager. Tuchel wasn't the problem at PSG evidently. It's honestly poor recruitment on behalf of those clubs. Potter would be smart to stay away and look for a more well-functioning club.

He's seems like a genuinely nice guy at a friendly club. I would like to see him take his team to europe for atleast a year and see how his team does with 2 games a week, that's often where you find out how good of a coach someone is, it's a lot easier to drill your team for a whole week than having a day or two to get your tactics and team ready for another game. I thought Everton should him scooped him up, I would like to see him at Leicester or Tottenham, I think if he gets United job, Ronaldo and Pogba will chew him out in 3 months, Arsenal and AFTV will do the same. Klopp said he himself, when he was at Mainz, it's a small market team, big media doesn't care about them, he was able to learn on the job, make mistakes and they weren't plastered on every front page. Living in the states, hot young basketball coaches used to jump ship at every occasion to a bigger job for decades, but over the last decades, the really good ones have figured out it's better to stay put unless the jump is significant, build a program, become a powerhouse and then jump to a truly big job. He probably won't do it, and night see it as a step down, but it would be interesting to see him give it a go with either red bull Salzburg or red bull Leipzig.

Graham Potter is a legend in Östersund🪄

  • @---cj4ul
    @---cj4ul2 жыл бұрын

Whoever would have expected the words 'No disrespect to Brighton'? Used in every piece by every pundit covering Potter, as all anyone ever seems to want to talk about is how things relate to the super league conspirators. Jahanbakhsh who is shown on the bench left in the summer, Trossard and Gross play on the opposite sides to those shown, the long pass expert is Dunk, not Duffy. There's no mention of Adam Webster who's ball carrying has been one of the side's most effective space makers this season. Duffy or Burn will give way for him when he's fully fit. Its pronounced Alzatey, not Alzatt. None of the dancing and singing at Ostersund was of Potter's doing. Listen to his interviews, he has stated this frequently. I suppose that these pieces will increase if we maintain the high league position that a good start and a fairly favourable fixture list has helped lift us to. I obviously hope that this happens, but would hope that any future ones are less shoddy in their attention to detail.

I could definitely see him taking the next step being Arsenal Tottenham Leicester if Rodgers leaves any time soon as I don’t think the Manchesters, chelsea and liverpool will take a risk on him yet without any real European experience but all in due time as the optics of hiring the Brighton manager may not be something club owners/directors want to have which is stupid I know but why else do the giants cycle the same 10 managers lol

I have a honest question, why would Guardiola ever be put alongside other great managers or even on the Mount Rushmore of managers when he has never overachieved with any club he coached (quite the opposite in fact with both City and Bayern)

Because he wins, Yes he's been at big clubs but he started at Barcelona B, promoted to Barcelona, dominated, Then got approached by Sir Alex to replace him in 2013 but he was on sabbatical, went to Bayern, dominated with his style of play, approached by City, dominated with his style of play People say he's only been at big clubs, but that's because only big clubs approach him If he replaced Sir Alex United would have splashed the cash like City and like a phoenix he would've helped United evolve into modern football

Not even a City or Barca fan, but Pep delivers consistency. Winning football that's also actually good to watch for most. And breaking records at that. And is also one of those managers whose success is judged on how many Champions League he has, which tells you the levels we're speaking of. The last manager judged similar I remember is a man that managed another club in Manchester. I tend to not remember the name, but he was red nosed and dominated the league majority of the years during his tenure.
