i dont want to bring up old stories. But there 2 measurements for different teams. Haas gets a meatball flag for a scratch, now redbull gets a fine and a grid penalty for bringing a car home. I remember a certain mercedes team that drove a 3 wheel car to victory with debries also going over the track (nothing from the stewards) a certain ferrari team that drove a tire blowout so fast that the bodywork got thrown all over the track. (nothing from the stewards). I would like some consitency from a the stewards but also from the commentary. owjeah i lost count of howmany time alonso drove a 3 wheel car and then it is regarded as a miracle that he could bring it home (btw i t is a miracle in my opinion!)

And on top of it you have idiots like Buxton who argue it should have been a harsher penalty and even make the comparison of how avoiding a SC is the same but a reverse 2008 Singapore. Disgusting penalty and not F1 worthy.

@@Lexington125 I'm a Max fan and am totally cool with him winning all the time but the early 2000s era was so much more exciting to watch, even with Schumi dominating. Just the cars alone were so much more entertaining to watch and listen. They also depended more on the driver. The modern hybrids have reduced the role of the driver, unfortunately.

I disagree if gasly played the team game he would've challenged riccardo in the laps beforehand to help defend the ocon 8th place and would've finished with 5 or 6pts than 3 points with ocon 4pts and gasly with 1 or 2 points if alpine were really playing for points that would've been the better strategy

The Canadian weekend clearly showed Russell's major weakness. 'He is definitely not a team player.' ........... and is a danger to all the other drivers. hmm 1) When Russell deliberately risking everything when he almost rammed himself & Piastri out of the race. 2) When Russell deliberately risking everything when he decided to overtake Hamilton on the wet side of the track. If Hamilton did not allow him to pass, both cars would have been out of the race. In both cases, Russell unnecessarily risked valuable Mercedes drivers & team points for personal gain only. Statistics don't lie. Since Russell joined the Mercedes team, the team has hemorrhaged most of their best players, become a disappointing 'mid field' team with almost no prospects of becoming a championship contender in the near futer.

Lawson in RedBull with Max. Daniel and Yuki in VcarbRB. How? RedBull signs Checo for 25 results in Mexican sponsors renewing contracts. Checo fails to meet performance requirements allowing RedBull to bench Checo and swap in Lawson without having to give back money. ( like Haas and Ukali). Ricciardo was probably the lure for the Visa sponsorship so Christian reluctant to dump him after a one year. If he can get some top 5 results they probably will extend. If he falls back to 1/2 second behind Yuki, maybe not.

There are a few drivers that I think there F1 journey has run its course: Logan Sergeant, Lance Stroll, Zhou Guanyu, Valtari Bottas, Daniel Ricciardo , KMag

Well they don't. Katie had a profound dislike for Max when they started out this podcast back in 2022 and she is more a fan of Ferrari and Charles Leclerc. Laurence is a bit neutral but still a Lewis Hamilton tradionalist. Don't take it too personal because you will always get this reaction from them when it comes to Red Bull. Laurence is very knowledgeable when it comes to the technical side of F1 and is well informed. The rest is just white noise.

It makes the Max and Red Bull win even sweeter. And maybe it's just me but all these high profile Ferrari/Leclerc fans on KZread enhances the entertainment value of Ferrari nosediving.

More exciting? Compared to the 80s to early 2000s, absolutely not. Yeah, I still watch but mostly the highlights, if there are any... and for many reasons. One being that the cars are so uninspiring. Too big, too heavy, too quiet, too ugly, too refined, too much aero and software dependent. I also hate DRS and all the ridiculous rules/regulations. Go watch Senna, Mansell qualifying at Silverstone 1991 or Schumi, Kimi, Mika, Montoya, Alonso battling it out in the days of more extreme cars that depended more on the driver. "The machines have taken away the character and it is the character that the sponsors and public are looking for. At the top, you have a few characters of conflicting personality; the rest, without good results, don't have any credibility. We must reduce costs so that we return to an era where the emphasis is on people not computers." I want to be challenged by my own limits and by someone who is made of the same skin and bone and where the difference is between brain and experience and adaptation to the course. I do not want to be challenged by someone else's computer. If I give 100% to my driving, which is my hobby as well as my profession, I can compete with anyone, but not computers." - Ayrton Senna on computers and tech in F1 cars.

The title of this 'unlapped' episode feels a bit premature, considering the fact that a Russell/Mercedes quali produced yet another Red Bull Racing (RBR)-Max Verstappen win. Even if that win came with no big advantage at the checkered flag, suggesting anything before the end of the Spanish GP in Barcelona seems hazardous. If that GP ends in yet another RBR win, the answer will prove F1 to remain boring till at least 2025.

It will be if the Mercedes drivers stop complaining.

I am just counting down the races until Lewis is out of Mercedes and finally a Ferrari man. I thought France was this week...me with my eagerness for races to come and go!

It has always been exciting. If you havent/ dont follow it and the story lines, then its nowhere near as fun. In my opinion, of course. But i feel like had we not been thru 2.5 years of max doninance, then the current f1 wouldnt be as exciting

Canada is a strong track for Daniel and has won there. So expect Yuki to wipe the floor with him on other tracks. I also expect Perez to do a 2023 and change everything when he is dropped.

@@usahillothey weren’t. Max dropped them both after the second SC and neither made any impression or got anywhere close to challenge him. I think if you put together the data RB might have been the 3rd fastest here due to the compromised setup on a car that isn’t well suited for Canada, but Max’s driving is the differentiator. Max drives short corners (false apex) whereas Nor and Rus are more geometrical apex which means you need to drive more distance around a lap vs how Max drives which is faster.

Russell does not deserve to be in F1 as he is not a team player & has caused more damage to Mercedes cars than any other driver in F1 history. So far this season, Russell's car repair bill well in excess of $2 million dollars!!! No team can afford that amount of rising repair costs under the F1 budget Cap.

When MRC FER MCL can challenge on a dry track that has high speed corners (the RBs best attribute) I’ll agree. But Canada is a point and squirt track, add erratic weather all weekend , Monaco a procession, we have learned nothing. I think in 3 races time your opinions & hopes would have sobered up & the realisation you are watching MV win his 4th championship with somewhat ease will be the new reality, fast forward next year and expect the same albeit a closer battle , 5th World Championship then on to the new regulations where you can throw all the teams up in the air and see where they land. I watched my first race in 1973, F1 teams do not challenge overnight, bet you a dollar to a cent RB are already well ahead on the car for 2025.

That's not true He's been given a race winning car three times and twice he was flawless. Sakhir, Brazil and Canada. He only messed up in Canada. Everyone made mistake their mistakes were just covered up. Max went off by himself. Lando did too. Lewis was literally 20 and 15 secs behind them and went off by himself before the second sc. A fair criticism of Russell would be whenever he's the car behind he lacks patience sometimes
