The Part 2 podcast is seemingly only viewable in the bonus content section which is essentially a 'shorts' format. No scrub, and if you touch the screen it skips forward or back losing your place in the podcast (which is seemingly over and hour long). Horrible experience. I'm deleting this app

He outperformed that car this season and play such a big part in bringing Williams to P7. They're lucky to have him. I hope we get to see him on the podium next year. I would actually die.

@@ia303 No the car is not very nice to drive, is inconsistent race by race and only works under certain conditions. Alex is very talented and is using his experience to aid in the car's development. Logan is a fresh rookie who was dropped into a temperamental car

When you realise he had no one around him at Red Bull (in terms of his personal team -accountant, manager etc) and how the media just prey on any weakness with sportspeople in general you realise how great of a person and driver he is! If he becomes champion one day, it would be one hell of a redemption arc

Alex saying self-awareness is his biggest strength AND weakness is so real. Hearing someone be so honest, humble and open is so refreshing. I really wish him all the best in the coming season and have no doubt we will see more great things from him

there is a lot of beauty in being very self-aware as it generally makes you a very good person, but there is a dark side in that you often don't do what is right for yourself. You sacrifice personal gains and happiness to please or even protect others.

if he says he's ready to win championships it shows he's not self aware. He's miles off Verstappen, Alonso, Hamilton and LeClerc and has demonstrated he lacks the mentality to perform under pressure. Yea yea Verstappen had his father to help him, but he was put in F1 at 17 and won his first race at RB while having severe scrutiny on him from all angles. Hamilton same story, immediately performed as a rookie against one of the best drivers of all time and a reigning double WDC.

I enjoyed the George Russell interview, but this one is on another level. No gloss or spin, no sense of media training, - Alex is talking from the heart. What a class act, and what a valuable piece of viewing for any young man or woman who is struggling. I will be directing my two sons to it.

My respect for Albon just solidified immensely. I'm going to support the guy. Win or lose in race, he already won my respect.

I love Alex's candour. No 'spin' - just very honest with him self and about himself. I think that this is one of the reasons that he's successfully revived and re-invigorated his career. I think that he's built himself a very strong foundation to move forward. I see a lot of parallels with Jenson Button. I hope that his story - like Jenson's - includes a future World Championship.

Unquestionably a nice guy. But we all know that to win a championship takes some serious ruthlessness. Button won, let’s be honest here, because the team lucked out in a design (double diffuser) that worked. When the other teams caught up Brawn (and Button) struggled to keep ahead. Never one another race for instance. I’m happy for them, but tons tons of extreme luck.

I’m a Riccardo, & Osca fan, but if my 3 year old grew up to be a 1/4 as good as Alex, he’d be a bloody legend. Alex is a bloody legend, we love him in our Thai/Ausie house. My son wants to be like him.

Alex went through a brutal fire test during RBR years, and to even think he didn't have this structure around him. The vulnerability he shows in this interview is one that only someone with strong confidence is capable of demonstrating. Williams has a valuable driver and I so much hope they can develop a car that brings victories. Both Alex and the team deserve to be at the front ❤

Best F1 interview with a current driver I can recall. He is so open and honest. Wish everything of the best for him. I really hope Williams can provide him with a competitive car through 2024.

The best interview I've seen on this channel. Great to see a sportsperson at the highest level be so emotionally open and honest.

I’ve rooting for Alex since his debut with Redbull, and if it weren’t for Hamilton wrecking him twice, he’d likely have two wins or at least podiums before RB dumped him. Even though he was knocked out then, I could still tell the guys has serious potential from his performance, even with his performance in the painfully poor Williams car, and I really wish him the best. I hope he gets a chance and a car that gives him the opportunity to really show what he’s worth.

I always related to Albon because he was meek and struggled with his own mental battles through his journey. When he lost his seat/dream, he never gave up. He worked on himself, his attitude, and made the right choices. It seems his ego took a back seat which is exceedingly rare in motorsport. He’s a great role model for young people in this sport. Thank you for sharing the interview.

One of the best interviews with a sportsmen that I’ve seen. You sometimes get this level of honesty when people retire but it’s rare to see it at 27 when still active in the sport. He’s got great character, sounds simple but even when you see him on something like Ted’s Notebook he’s one of the few drivers happy to speak to him and have a laugh, he’s the kind of guy you’d want to work with.

He explained exactly what checo went through this season

Very underrated driver for real! Many somehow overlook his skills just because his car isn't in the front of the pack. Hoping for greatness for Alex. Him and James are onto something - they made leaps of progress in just their 1st year.

He's shown this year that he is one of the most talented drivers on the grid: fantastic abilities with car management, race strategy and defensive driving as well as having natural speed. So impressive. I can't wait to see what he can do in a competitive car now he's got all this experience. Not sure how good he is at wheel to wheel racing. It's fascinating how drivers have all these different areas of expertise.

I’ve loved Albon since he appeared on the scene. Such a humble Likeable person. Love to see him doing well in Williams. I hope he thrives in his F1 career. I’ll be supporting all the way!

I’ve been following Alex’s career since 2018 when he was in F2, and had a very underrated season as he finished third in the standings with Norris and Russell taking all the headlines as the two championship contenders. Knowing full well the family struggles he’s endured, and seeing his performances on track with no-nonsense attitude, I immediately took a liking for him. He was set to race in other motorsports series before both him and I were shocked to see him get a callup from Toro Rosso for 2019 F1 season, to drive alongside Kvyat. He showed great pace and racecraft for a rookie and it was a bigger shock that year to see him get promoted to the main Red Bull Racing team halfway through the season, owing to Gasly’s struggles. Again, in contrast to the driver he was replacing, he showed great pace and racecraft from 2019 Belgian GP itself, finishing P5 from back of the grid with some amazing overtakes. One highlight that comes to mind is him producing the exact same qualifying laptime as Max’s at 2019 Japanese GP - 1:27.851. He should’ve had the podium at 2019 Brazil GP but Hamilton took a liking to him and not in a good way. Gasly being a popular figure led to people wanting Albon to fail (which has become a common theme nowadays with so many new fans exhibiting the tribal culture), and it wasn’t before Red Bull Racing produced the notorious RB16 for 2020 season - one of, if not the, most difficult to drive cars in recent F1 history, admittedly even for Max at times. They were chasing a car concept that would bring them closer to Merc and Ferrari for a championship fight, and in my opinion they went too extreme to build a car to suit Max’s unique driving style and leaving Alex to adapt (and survive). People who wanted him to fail had a field day the whole year (taking some radio messages out of context like “they race me so hard”), forgetting the fact that it was his only second season in F1 and first full season in RBR. Still, he showed great racecraft at times, but also made quite a many mistakes trying to adapt his driving style to extract more from the car. But there were still some great “around the outside” overtakes as he showed again and again that he’s got what it takes. I don’t blame the team dropping him for the 2021 season with a seasoned driver like Perez available and the impending championship fight with the Merecedes juggernaut - but far too many have overlooked behind the scene contributions of Alex that year. He did regular sim work that year to not only help the team optimize the ideal car setup (something that would set him for success at Williams later in his career), but he also helped Perez and even Yuki get more comfortable with their respective machineries. I was so glad to see him back on track with Williams for 2022 season, and he showed the world once again how underrated he is. But that was until this 2023 season, when that curtain was lifted - as he produced monumental performances with remarkable consistency, that took even his harshest critics to stop and take notice. I’m happy I no longer have to fight with random strangers in F1 online community on how great of a driver he is (they argued with me so hard), and with Alex becoming one of the top 5 drivers of the season this year, his stock is at an all time high. And the best part is, this only feels like the beginning of something special.

Albon said in this video the narrative that the public pushes that the car is made for Max is wrong. He said Newey makes a car and you drive it. Albon also said Max can drive different styles and if you followed Max you know why he can drive multiple styles. It was more of the technical knowledge that Albon missed to set the car up by as close to his driving style. I think Albons story is relatable to every (ex) teammate of Max. It’s hell to drive next to him

Completely missed the point Albon is making about the car being made for Max. Albon in this podcast is even saying that Red Bull aren’t making the car to suit Max’s driving style over his. Oversteering aka a sharp front end will make your car straight quicker from the corners and therefore making it possible to step on the throttle earlier resulting in quicker acceleration through a corner. That philosophy for building a car is something that many people believe is the fastest car, a car with a sharp end to go quicker through the corners. Red Bull isn’t going to build a slow car to suit both drivers, they’ll build the quickest car possible and the driver needs to adapt to the car. They are professional drivers and they should be able to adapt to a car in some shape or form otherwise they could’ve just hired Harry from Tesco if any person could drive their car.

If anyone has trouble understanding what "sincere" is, have them watch this interview! Alex is a clear cool pond. What you see is what you get! When Alex first appeared in F1, there was a scene that had Charles, George and Lando all being asked who was their biggest threat as a driver, all three of them easily and quickly said Alex Albon. This interview shows just why they would say that! Alex is mighty at being a human being. He learns and grows extremely automatically and with massive intensity! Sweet, cool, funny and friendly and at the same time utterly ruthless and cunning! Anyone who watches him intently can see the one of a kind driving ability Alex has. He was born to drive. He exudes joy du vivre, and displays a nearly magical skill at piloting! Thanks for the respectful and eye opening interview! God speed Alex!

A truly emotional interview with an exceptional good personality of an F1 driver! Seeing Alex so open about the difficult times I prayed and I prayed for a five minutes of positivity to end the interview with. A pity.

He is now my favorite underdog driver. His story is so inspiring, to be this honest and self aware takes amazing maturity.

This is such a good explanation of what’s been happening with Checo. Max’s set up gets increasingly perfected and the second driver just can’t keep up. And subconsciously that will start to really screw with you.

So ideally. Car is built for new season (especially 2022 onward). Car is pretty balanced, and quick. Both drivers within a tenth or 2, Max just ahead. Car get upgrades.. Checo gets "slower".. and the gap is exaggerated. Checo starts spinning and binning it in practice, Quali and races. Media say that Checo lost the chance to win the WC.. Checo in a bind will make an attempt to fix the car on his side.. can't get it done. Championship chance gone etc etc. He struggles mentally and it isn't a good look. In the end, the car is still upgraded to suite the fastest driver. Regardless of what teams says.. feedback does matter enough to get a general direction of development (and foundationally, knowing where and how to upgrade the car matters). Additionally, the RB16B (2021), was still a hot mess from the RB16. The same too much front end problem (plus it's the highest raked car on the grid). Alex spent all year working in the sim, with the engineers and with Checo primarily to dial out the excess front end and bring the car to a good balance where it was drivable for Checo to help max near the end. This likely is why RB generally looked a tad slower near the end of the season(Merc also found suitable engine mapping near the end of the season from using Valterri as a guinea pig, to optimise the engine for their aero).

@@israellewis5484 It's like a runaway train. Once you fall off you are screwed. The train doesn't stop. The slower driver only gets a new chance when a new car comes, which is next season. This is not the same as a car being developed for a specific driver. It means: when you are the quicker one, you have the advantage and the momentum and the slower guy has a huge problem.

​@@israellewis5484you misunderstood the all thing...the car is what it is and as the season goes on or as Max start getting to know the car more. He sets up the car more to what he think, he will go faster. But of course if any other driver used his setup it would be difficult to have same lap times unless the driving style is also similar any other driver would struggle to race with the same setup and not that the two cars are setup for Max. The team also goes to a race track with a base setup for the race track which they think is the fastest or competitive and then in practice drivers start to tune/setup the car to their liking.

​@AnhDuy-xr4ck The car is built to be its fastest, which Max can drive and not many other drivers can. I assume if you put Alonso or Lewis (or another generational talent) in that car, they'll compete with Max but most F1 drivers (who are still amazing btw) struggle.

What a great podcast, credit to Alex for being so open and genuine, he is such a nice, balanced guy.

I’ve always liked Alex Albon, and this interview makes me like him more. What a genuine person. I love how honest and open he is. He’s a great driver!

Alex is amazing. Humble and reserved dude. Also an amazing driver. I think Williams with Alex and Vowles at the helm will be taking some great strides in the future.

he'll be great at Williams. Low expectations. High rewards. No cut throat drama that is associated with big teams like Red Bull when you're not performing.

One of the best sports interviews ever. Alex is able to really explain the mindset of a racing driver and top athlete. He has really shown his true capabilities this year and I hope he continues to progress to the highest level in F1.

He always seemed like the „too nice one“ or not having the really hard edge, but he is a truely sympathetic guy in interviews like this. The way he came back at Williams the things he pulled of with this car, amazing - great to see and I so hope he gets a podium and another chance in a top car…

I could listen to Alex all day long. Nothing to hide. No big ego. Happy to talk about his struggles which a lot of people would hide from. A genuine class act and what he has done in that Williams this year proves that he is a big team driver. Like he said, it just came a little bit to early for him. It's such a shame we can't get all of these guys in the same car to really prove who's got it because looking at his racing past he's easily Top 5 on that grid currently. Him and James Vowles are the best things to happen to Williams in a good few years.

Same! From a marketing point of view I cannot understand how they let him go, he is a witty and well-spoken guy and his chemistry with Max was so good. I cringe at the current RB videos with Max and Checo because they are so awkward with each other, they even had to add Yuki or Daniel in the mix

@@sundaydriver15 After watching this, I think I can understand why. He's too honest. He's too self critical, to be at the very top, I think you need to be a bit mental. You need to believe that you are better than everyone else. Alex's attitude in this is extremely endearing, but I can't imagine Marko or Christian seeing his modesty as a good sign. I do think he's probably much more robust now, but from what he said, I understand much more why he was dropped.

There might be others but that's before my time. F1 can throw up some weird championships. While I think you might be right, you can't dismiss all drivers other than max and lewis.

Albon is the real deal

Albono is such an honest, likeable, real, relatable, funny, talented guy. His performance was simply impressive this season, since last year is evident how much he has been helping Williams improve and is so humble. His candor is so refreshing. The interview was great btw, your best. His not in character as other drivers appear to or maybe he is a more complex person. You are a Phoenix Alex. Would love to see you in the team of my ❤ Mercedes.

Alexander Albon is my favorite F1 driver. He is so humble and nice, yet outstandingly quick. Is the one driver that I would also like to know and be friends with. I wish him all the best in F1 and also in life.

Wow! How much I enjoyed this interview. I've never seen an F1 driver talk so candidly about his battle with himself and all the peripheral issues that do or don't matter. It's wonderful to see how Alex reflects on all things. What a wonderful and honest person he is. But also looking back at Red Bull without any resentment. This is unbelievably special. Very authentic and sincere interview. I can relate to being self aware and self doubt, while observing others just perform like it is easy.

This guy is awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever heard an athlete speak whose opinion or input into my own issues I would actually welcome before this. He changed my mind about memes.

Have followed Alex since his junior career and been a fan since day one. He is just the loveliest guy and deserves to have the success and recognition he’s now having. As he said himself I wish RBR had just given him that little bit more time as I think he would have proven himself.

What a wonderful human being Alex is. I His personality is so diferentes from any other racing driver, much more human, incredibly honest, the kind of person that you immediately feel you can trust. I’m a much bigger fan of him after this interview. Congrats to you and to Alex.

Always been a fan of Alex. Hope he does well this season. He's always appeared as a good person and his honesty in this interview is great.

To realise he was dealing with all that stuff himself when things weren't working out for him at Red Bull, is mind blowing. To then take that as a positive, doing out the documents about what he did to improve the team and going to other team principles with that, the guy is so mentally strong. Never giving up, not getting destroyed by that. I'm delighted to seem him doing so well at Williams, I just hope that somehow they can give him a competitive car for next season.

Alex is such a cool guy man. Never heard his story before dude is a g. Such an awesome inspiration. All these drivers are so humble and just cool dudes. No arrogance just straight performance. Alex reminds me of lewis Russell and lando super well spoken and humbling. This man is fully tuned in spiritually.

Love how genuine Alex is. Having had a chance to briefly interact with him in Abu Dhabi I can certainly say he is just as down to earth in real life as he comes across in this video. I think he is truly a perfect example of someone making tremendous use of the second chance that he got at Williams and he has got the absolute maximum out of that car this year.
