Bought 2 ETB around 45 usd and 1 binder for 25 usd to open, skipped on the booster bundle for 40 usd. Waited on the UPC to drop below 100 usd before buying one. Got the base set covered, only a couple of full arts to go. I am content with my buy to keep sealed UPC. And sure got my 151 nostalgia fix. I focus now on buying / completing the Japanese 151. The English baseset I gifted to my little nephew.

Really love your content Rob. As someone who’s collected on and off since the late 90s it’s great watching your analysis and down to earth explanations. You manage to mix the illogical heart of collecting with the cold logic of how to stay solvent and enjoy the process. Really appreciate that you’re generating this content.

Yeah, lesson learned. Now I'm looking around to see what's the best sale/offer, but I think I'm holding on for Black Friday 2024 if I'm honest. It would be great to see how stores do discounts in a historical way YoY. Also, you should make a video showing us your collection! One for slabs, another for sealed and another one for random stuff. Just an idea. Great video as always! 🔥🔥🔥

I find booster bundles of 151 in official Pokémon center vending machines in my super market and they don’t sell out usually always there for MSRP

Holding on so i can one day tell my kids about how pokemon released the original 151 and crack it open with them or…. It quadruples in price and i see profits. Either way, win.

I remember when evolving skies was 110 a box and were sitting. People were saying reprint coming, reprint coming..I scooped up the area. Then the reprint never came. Only a matter of time one day the supply WILL dry up and before you know it longterm price up up up

That was during pandemic time like Celebration and Shining Fates. Pokemon Center didn’t repeat the same mistake with Charizard UPC. Pokemon Center will always pump more products that give them most profit such as UPC. Any down time, they will pump more booster bundles as it’s just cards.

I’ve followed the last 2 reprints in Canada checking prices and availability online daily. 2 weeks after a restock everything is gone, only stuff left is more than msrp. It’s definitely too early for a quick flip but long term I still see it as gold.

151 is a solid investment SUPER LONG TERM! Get it right. 151 will only see value 10+ years later not now or 1-5years even

@mynoteappps lol. Lots of people and they get pretty handsomely rewarded in many cases. It should be a small portion of any portfolio and I think treated as a hobby, but yeah, it's legit dude.

151 is an amazing set but everything eventually drops. Everyone says if you decide to invest in sealed product, you need to keep a mindset of resale in 5-10 years. I agree with everything you said but I would never buy Pokémon cards from Amazon. Everything else I agree 💯.

@samersalama6275 it means a lot. Honestly, I should have mentioned Amazon not taking great care of the packages. I had an ETB arrive in the UK and they'd slapped a storage label right on the seal. Just shipped it with no packaging. I genuinely appreciate you watching and commenting. It means a lot.

No need to invest in 151 just yet. Even Japanese 151 booster boxes stalled so I stopped at 10 boxes. Once the market on them looks like it is ready to move again then I'll continue buying them. For now I have shifted my investment dollars to booster boxes of Fusion Strike, Chilling Reign & Brilliant Stars. Lost Origin and Silver tempest will be my next direction after I stock up on these earlier sets. I do not usually like investing in sets until after the reprint which most sets get at least one big reprint after 10 to 18 months of release day.

As a casual collector, the hype around 151 is garbage. OG Pokemon are available to collect in nearly every set. The Mew on the cover is even now being chased in the newest set in shiny. I don't feel like I miss much of anything when I skip a set like 151 because the next set will have Charizard, or Mew, or plenty of other OGs

Australia has the worst stock levels of 151. You can't buy it very often at all. US markets must be soaking up all the stock! Cheers Rob

I knew 151 SV was gunna crash, just so much volume. BUT 151 JPN is another story. They always could print alot more but not looking like it. New sets seem to be doing well, cards look great in T forces JPN. so no reason to 🤞

Then assesing when a product or asset was deployed relative to the health of the market. then I look at charts, and finally using speculation based on sentiment. Mostly i invest in things when the market as a whole is in a bad way. I dont buy things in a bull market. The things that were bearish before, typically turn bullish then

@ESP-Collectibles good take. You are potentially missing out on gains during bull market runs doing that, but in theory, you minimize risk. With this channel, I don't know if you've seen any of my other content. I honestly do try to analyze much of what you're saying. Market, set sentiment, charts, and overall economy. But dude, nobody really knows for sure what's going to pop in Pokemon. If the lens seemed narrow in this video, it's because it was focused solely on the trend on some 151 sealed products.
