Honestly? I'm very sceptical about the neuralink. I wouldn't have too much faith in those reports until long after long-term effects have been observed. I don't think we're anywhere near just yet, and I think I like it that way. Besides, are we really gonna believe Musk of all people? So many of the projects he funds fail completely, and the animal tests for the neuralink did not exactly look promising. I do think our world is becoming more like Cyberpunk in other ways, mostly politically, societally and economically. Corporations controlling the government, wars being fought for profit, overcrowded megacities with extreme social injustice, people becoming disconnected and lonely because of technology, climate change leading to difficult living conditions, et cetera. I could be wrong tho, I'm just a Dutch choom tryna make sense of it all

it is new, therefore it is scary. humanity loses its shit everytime a big new thing is invented or improved upon; it's just the way it goes. we'll fear it for a few years, then we'll ridicule it for another 3-4, then we'll embrace it when we realize that "oh hey, this isn't so bad."

Fun fact: Neuralink tech is from 2003. Find the paper "Learning to Control a Brain-Machine Interface for Reaching and Grasping by Primates" by Miguel Nicolelis and his team. Neuralink developed on top of that. Nicolelis said in interviews that Musk hired some of his former students.

See, Musk isn’t IRL Arasaka Arasaka makes decent products and Saburo has decent business acumen. Probably both as dangerous for humanity though. Wouldn’t exactly trust Musk specifically to put anything in my head. That said I do like the idea of controlling a computer with my mind.
