Yes, the code four is the best knife for the money, smooth with a triad lock, I would like to see the shark lock but not with bearings. Its gotta be phosphor-bronze to be legit work knife, my code 4's open smooth with a flick they would be just fine with a shark lock

$500 MSRP for S35vn ($260 on sale on MidwayUSA) or $250 for Aus10 is a pretty big chunk of change for a production folder. That being said, that's a beast of a knife you're getting. That tiny pocket clip looks ridiculous on it.

Wow. 9.75/10 slap. Perfect acoustics, nice orientation, nearly stuck the landing. Almost perfectly in frame

The safe trick is to release the blade lock while the blade is already facing straight down, so there is no risk gravity will cause it to guillotine a finger. Then rotate it enough to let gravity drop the blade in place or, as one should with very big, very sharp, folders, use the support hand to quickly reach over and shut it 100% safely while the dominant hand holds the knife handle, fingers clamshelled, and fully clear of the cut path. Nice video! Cheers

Love this one but im waiting for the 5max personally as i like the blade shape better and actually prefer the triad lock over this one. I use the 4max in the outdoors regularly and looking forward to the bigger blade and longer handle on the 5max. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

I like crazy overbuilt knives. MC you ought to review the Cold Steel Jimi Slash Competition Chopper.

Dullest knife I ever got was a Cold Steel AD15 Lite. It came in one of those plastic hang packages. Also have a 3V SRK that came super sharp.

Seems like it would make a nice backup to a backup. For example, if you buy this, you already have a katana as a backup to your Desert Eagle and this is then the backup to the katana.

Nice! Good size knife for big guys! Of course anyone can carry it but such a great size for large people! Keep ‘em coming MC!!!

The Cold Steel Engage is a great edc, same lock.

Ive literally been attacked in an alley and had to use a cold steel folder to survive... But it was not men in vests with chains, it was a Rottweiler mix... And it kept my bike. 😂

Love that these things exist. But I don't like most of then have these tiny screws and barrels holding the blade. It won't affect the stability a lot to use bigger ones. But look wise. For me using "small stuff" in biig knives looks weird

I think the pocket clip works differently than you think with that knife. You are supposed to hang the knife off the outside and you just clip it to your pocket with the clip inwards.

That is how some people use it, yes, but those people are wrong and the knife can easily snag on stuff. The proper way to use a clip on things like knives and pens is to have the clip on the outside.

Former LEO, PSD contractor & later DHS contractor I carried a folder for utilitarian purposes & a fixed blade for last ditch defense. These days & heading into retirement not to mention I'm moving overseas, something like this would be pointless & a waste of money. It's pretty, I love the look but even at the peak of my career it would be pointless to carry, the bad guys would've laughed at me to be honest 😂

Funny story…I witnessed just the type of dumpster gang people you’re talking about on a subway in Montreal. They got off onto the platform, say a rival gang and started a 20 or 30 person brawl. Craziest shit I’ve seen. I just stayed in the train and kept on chooching to the next stop.

They simply designed around the shark lock patent by not utilizing a L shaped hole that is what was patentable in the shark lock patent.

If you look at the patents that were cited in prosecution of the shark lock patent there were multiple spine mount sliding locks well before the shark lock.

Cold Steel have never been king imo but I admit that is one nice looking knife. They do have a certain charm though, crocodile dundee style but I can appreciate it. I just prefer the PMP, Midgards and Maxace beasts tbh. Great vid though as usual.

My problem with this one is the same as with the 4Max (aside from being ridiculously large for EDC): needs to come with a sheath/holster so you aren't limited to carrying it in your pocket, if you're out camping/hiking or whatever. Someone already said it, but for a more realistic carry with an atlas lock, the Engage is the way to go. Side note: I wish Cold Steel would give up on the billboarding.
