As a guy who competed and had two 6 for 6 days in my life it is mind boggling to me that Reeves had four of them in a row at the highest level of competition. Good luck at Paris Olivia.

I wonder how much geo-politics matters in these team selection decisions. Like is China sending Liao Guifang a risk not just because she may be beaten, but beaten by the USA?

Gosh I really, really hope she goes though! She is my favorite female weightlifter to watch. I mean, her technique absolutely blows my mind.

That would be a NO. China is always conservative with their athletes capabilities, only focusing on posting a total to win. Imagine if they cut them loose.

There are gonna be a ton of failed lifts in Thailand.

Super exciting weight class. Olivia reeves is just so unpredictable (in a good way), but at the same time, perhaps guifang could just pop off - i bet she could pull out some crazy numbers if she needed to qualify

Its still kind of crazy to me that the u.s. team gets to be coached by pyros dimas. I thought he would be coaching another greek dream team but I guess not

Honestly Guifang needs to improve her total if she wants to go to the Olympics. While she leads by 11kg. Olivia Reeves has totaled around 96% of her total. The lowest of any Chinese female lifter in comparison to the second ranked across all olympic categories. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Reeves, Toma or Dejomes take a stab at world record snatch (or a 270 total). I definitely expect Guifang to break her record total. Toma needs guifang not be selected if she wants to get a medal.

None of these so called powerhouse and eye candy in Europe will medal when guifang and reeves lift their minds out. They looked like amateurs against these reeves and guifang

I agree she has never clean and jerked 140 in competition. At Europeans this year she only managed a 127kg clean and jerk after missing 130 twice. She came 4th in the Clean and jerk (not including Olivia Reeves who couldn't medal at Europeans). Angie Dejomes, Olivia Reeves and Liao Guifang have all managed to hit 140 before (albeit Angie Dejomes has only made 140 once). Toma doesn't have a great shot at winning a medal unless Guifang isn't selected, or she fixes her clean and jerk.

Fantastic vid. Very excited for Thailand and this is a category I'll stay up late / get up early to watch live.
