I recently bought the EOS R. I love the feel of this camera, but not so happy with the auto-focus (has latest firmware) and inability to shoot high frame rates with crop lenses. Are you happy with the handling and build quality of the R8? Does it feel "plasticy" and "brittle" like the R7? Thanks!

I’d say the R8 feels quite similar to the R7. It’s not up to the same quality as the higher tier cameras like my R6 II. However, I don’t mind it that much on the R8. It’s just such a nice and compact little camera that I take it out more and more! Really good combo with the 14-35 or 50mm 1.8!

Don’t they make an add on battery grip that holds 2 batteries?

There’s an official additional grip, but it doesn’t hold batteries - it’s merely for adding grip. But there’s quite a bit of 3rd party options available! I like to keep the setup small and compact though, I’m just carrying a spare battery around 😊
I do use the R8 as B-Cam aside of my R7. When you shoot with the R6 as main cam, keep the R7. You can use the same batteries, the R7 does not tend to overheat easily and also that one you can use on a gimbal

Yes… I’m going back and forth honestly, it’s not an easy choice 😬 there’s also the novelty factor to consider - a new toy 😂

@@coppensbram totally understand. But für professional stuff the R7 is the better workhorse. The R8 is great and shares the same sensor but i had to buy a poeerbank and content longer than 50 minutes in 4k makes the camera overheat. For my small KZread channel it does the trick but for more, the R7 is the better companion aside of the R7. Look forward to your comparison vid 👍🏻

@@mb-watches true and very valid arguments! I agree. But on the other hand, the R8 has the exact same sensor as my R6 II. And I anyway use the R6 II for anything professional… the R8 is just soooo… cute 😂
