Why is a medal that's voted for by the umpires so prestigous? Surely the MVP and the coaches award should mean more than what umpires think.

Heeney has to compete with team mates Gulden and Warner, though, so I reckon Bont is better placed.

Bont has only had 2-3 3point games in 14 games, several Sydney players have had 10 polling games.

I think anyone from Sydney will suffer from what any great and dominant team does on Brownlow night, is that everyone contributing and the top players 'steal' votes from one another. Heaney is competing against Gulden, Warner, Grundy, Papley, Hayward and even Amartey kicking 9 surly stole the 3 votes last week. Bont stands out out so much every dogs game with less players around him to take votes. Only real danger is if umpires see Treloar's season and he takes the odd 3 or 2 vote games from Bont which might cost him in the end. The very reason why Ablett always got the votes is he had zero help at the Suns most weeks.

Lobb is being actively shopped by his agent ATM. Hence, why he has pulled his finger out of his overpaid a$$. 🤷‍♂️

No. Treloars been pretty good this season he will take votes off him.

Lobb is genuinely better for the dogs structure than darcy atm He plays the more daniher role as a second ruck and does it really well. Idk why they havent been playing him, he makes their team better when he plays well

Sam Darcys kicked nearly as many goals in 11 games this season than Rory lobb kicked the whole of last season. He had his chance to be a routine starter and blew it.

@@Idk_tbh20 Have you seen the difference in roles he's played though? His role was to set up the other two forwards and they played way better with him in it. Lobb is much better up the ground than any of their other forwards, when he's not in they have to go up which takes either mara or naughton out. Darcy is great ofc but nowhere near as good as a half ruck/high forward

I've believed the Bont has been the best player all year but will Bulldogs win enough games

Its funny though, does Bont ever get tagged? Best player in AFL and Freo lets him loose... Meanwhile Daicos holding pies together with weekly hard tags and still has huge impact. Seems its obvious who teams and coaching staff think is the most dangerous player. I guess they know that WB are non contenders.

I watched the couch. Gary Lyon said he didn't want to gloss over collingwoods performance and then completely glossed over it. Talked about the roos but then didn't talk about collingwoods incredible performance. The blokes still hurting after what the pies did to his mediocre melbourne team

‘Gloss over’ means multiple things, one of which is ‘to make it seem not important’. He didn’t gloss over Collingwood, he was being respectful of their performance, but talking about North. You need to lighten up - it’s actually ok to not talk about Collingwood all the bloody time.

What about we work out a selection of fans, then take into account umpires, coaches, players and have like the aggregate of all sectors. Also 3 or less games suspended in a season is ok. Then we really know who’s the best and fairest that year!!!???? I like the fairest bit…the game is played on the edge so allow some leeway for a minor offence.

Still bizarre he hasn’t won it already. Last year, if not Gulden or Daicos he seemed the obvious choice. The last few years he has seemed destined to get it but fallen short after some odd votes.

He hasn’t won one yet because the dogs always cough up some games in the back end of the season. Bont has actually never played in a home and away top 4 team; even in 2021 they only finished 5th. And then the umpires always seem to find a way to give him 2 votes in games where he is clearly BOG. Last year he had 30 and kicked 3 against Essendon, and still only got 2 votes.

not a lot of players can get the 3 votes when losing, even if theyre a clear BOG umps consider the score too much, which is unforunate but its the way they do it.
