I recently picked BDO up again after trying it out no less than five times prior and hating it, but after reframing my mind around it and treating it as a single player action RPG with shared world elements it finally clicked and I'm really enjoying myself. I was so used to playing MMOs with a PvE focused endgame that it was hard for me to wrap my head around an MMO that was open ended and didn't have the traditional endgame content commonly found in MMOs. I was also used to trying my darndest to keep up with my friends which is definitely what you shouldn't try to do in this game if you want to enjoy yourself. Taking your time to go through the story at your own pace, learn your class and all of the various systems, explore the beautifully crafted world, and engage in the content you find fun goes a long way in helping you enjoy the game.

I played BDO back when it 1st released and I hated it with a passion. I think it was bc it wasn't something I was use to with the main focus being on PvP as a PvE player and the combat being weird af to me. The best thing about it was how in depth the character creation was. But I've recently gotten back into and learning to absolutely love it

Main coolest thing in this game is such big choice of different characters with different skilss + sooo many different cool effects. The screen just goes so colorful

Used to follow back a few years back when I was playing ESO and nowadays I'm trying to find another mmo to play and stumbled upon this video glad to see you're still doing youtube keep it up

When you can grind all the enemies in the game, that's about it. Grinding and gambling is the name of the game

I played Black Desert console for a while, made lots of characters and leveled up a lot of life skills. Recently I've built my first pc build and finally experienced the actual game. Now I don't want to play on console anymore, but I just don't have the will to start over from scratch again. Never did get to experience the sea content, which I was working towards on console. Black Desert is pretty fun, but I wish they had some kind of cross save. This game is a constant grind, even for the smallest things, I shouldn't be punished for switching platforms.

I never transferred my account which is 100% on me and my laziness but after 2-3 years of not playing I'm downloading it on steam to try and give it a try once more, rip my original account with thousands of hours and more than will to admit amount of money but I never regretted playing so going to give it a shot again!

I sold my old account on pc. But got the itch to play again. With season servers and events etc ,You’ll be caught up in no time.

And here I am wondering if someone will mention how BDO combat is compared to single player action games because I have recently gone out of the Monster Hunter vicious cicle or should I just finish all of Nier Automata's side missions or either buy Stranger of paradise or DMC5... I've heard a lot of it's combat, but since no one compares it with single player games I guess MMOs are still not yet on that level.

Love you content! Gaming chairs are the high heels of chairs, they look great but fucking suck functionally.

BDO is such a unique game. It’s like warband, OSRS, path of exile, lost ark, and street fighter combined into one game lol

How do i get my naphart campsite on another char? I can only see it in the inventory of one of chars pearl tab . I do not have a camping tool on the char i bought the campsite on . Do i need the tool on that char? Or can i just get the tool on my new char and then the campsite will show in my inventory?

You have to use the tool and it'll become bound to your account, and you'll get a button near the pets, fairy, etc

I stopped playing BDO for a few reasons. Glad they fixed the gear progression at least, but if you don't have a value pack for life skilling, it's really not worth it. You don't get enough from profits from marketplace without value pack, and inventory management is horrendous without it too. With cosmetics, I'd have to wait months to actually get what I want from there. If they got rid of the need for a value pack, and made it faster to get cosmetics for characters, I would consider getting back into it. Otherwise it's too annoying to play as a PVE player.

@@Dreyden12274 technically you can get full pen boss gear using jetina but only 2 armor 2 weapon is worth making considering the market price of the gears. For the remaining gears it's better to just buy instead of enhancing it your self

I find you don't really need the tent or the quality pack. I've played the game for about 4 years now and other than the packs that have come to me during the game I haven't purchased them from the Pearl shop. While the tent is so much better than the tent you receive in game, I haven't considered buying it because I accept that I will have to leave the zone to sell my stuff and I'm okay with that. I find the tent gives someone else an advantage over me but I'm okay with that. What I do spend on is outfits and underwear if I like some item I've seen. But I am frugal when it comes to spending so I don't do it often. Most times I do it as a reward for completing a zone in game. One day I will put money towards the tent but that still is a long way off. Good video though

I'm definitely not a PvP player in games like ESO but if the game is designed around PvP and solo friendly (not just for zerg mobs) I don't see why it wouldn't be enjoyable. I have heard it compared to fighting game this witch also isn't a genre I play much of at all. My experience is in Monster Hunter (no PvP), ESO (most people are PVE focused), Warframe (PvP is a complete joke as far I understand), Lost Ark (there so much in the game I never even tried it). The MMO that looks like it might be interesting for PvP is New World but I never played it. The games that I personally PvP in are RTS games (StarCraft, AoE, etc). :P

I have seen many videos like this, but I still dont understand whats the endgame? I mean, GW2 are fractals and somehow strikes and raids, WoW are GM and raids, FF14 are ultimate raids, but in BDO as far as I understod (please correct me) you get stronger to just kill more stronger trash mobs to get stronger and kill mire stronger trash? Please halp

You can play this game absolutely free all the way to end game. There are events when they give accounts for free. (Not actually free, you need to level up a character to level 20 or more)

Ok, i like BOD, i think it is a good game in certain aspects and has drawbacks in others. HOWEVER, i would honestly give a warning to anyone who wants to give this game a shot. This game has very heavy P2W and the game constantly creates problems and shoves the solutions in your face as real money shop items. You gotta keep this in mind. I think when we say "is it worth playing" this has to be mentioned. The game essentially is good but it has very VERY predatory monetization to a degree where i would say this is one of the most agressive monetizations you can find in an MMO. I totally agree that you can make this game quite comfy just by paying a similar amount as what you would pay for something like WoW or ESO however, you still have to grind for months considering most people can't play all day every day. What really is P2W imo is the fact that you can just straight up whale out that grind almost entirely. Is it very different than WoW token? Idk i never played WoW after WoW token but you 100% can't whale out in ESO.

I enjoy it. I play lots of games like CS:GO, Dark Souls III. Not a big MMORPG guy by any means. For me Black Desert satisfies that MMORPG itch.

One of these days, someone will actually twig to the fact that every thing you do in this game in one way or another benefits you in the long run. Yes, enhancing is a pain, but if you are starting with a season character on the seasonal servers, it is less painful, especially Naru Gear. And "End game" .. as the kids say on a long distance car trip... "Are we there yet?" and the short-term answer is... not even close. There are still areas of the old continent yet to be opened up and that means there is more to come than just the Land to the north. Hadum ring any bells? And am glad you included links to the detailed videos as, housing is not cash based but dependent on Contribution Points and lifeskilling is definitely a game by their own rights. As I inferred initially, Black Desert can be as simple as you like or complicated. YOU have the choice and weirdly, you can change your mind and not feel like you have wasted time. I would advise any newbie to start and do ALL the main quest lines til at least O'Draxxia...do side quests and speak to NPCs, even if they don't have a quest. Knowledge is Power.

Gtind in game is cool if that have sense. Like in tibie you grind and you have alot of items/ lvls There? Levels almost stuckk you farm alot and you will get like 1 level per yers.. and it give you almosty nothing.

Just letting everyone know, when he says "it takes a bit to be able to pvp" he actually means 5 months or more (if you've played this game for 7 years then 5 month might seem just a bit) Just to put it into perspective, there's a quest that give you a "free" top tier ring, but it's not actually free, it still costs around 12 billions (original on market place costs around 50 bil) and if you are a new player, that doesn't know anyhing (even with guides you will still be clueless as what to do), you will probably make around 100mil per 1-3h. And you still need another ring, 2 earings, belt, 4 armor pieces and 3 weapons. Let that sink in. Furthermore, to add insult to injury, that ring basically has a mandatory 45 days wait, because you need 180 crafting materials that you can only grind for a maximum of 4 per day Yes, the combat looks fun, but when you spam the same flashy moves against braindead mobs, that offer no challange, for hours every day, every month, it sucks all the fun. There are other alternatives of making money, but that's another can of worms that i will not open You have been warned, have fun

True Ator is so trash I won’t ever set foot in it again having completed solo mode. Such a terrible buggy mess. Why wouldn’t they just do some simple puzzles like turn these 2 switches on the end of left and right halway to open the door to the boss. Then boss is LOML style fight and youd get loot once a week. So simple. Defo the worst piece of content in any mmorpg ive ever played

@@DammnDeejay Not sure if it's on console but on PC there was a solo option when you're in the ancient stone chamber interacting with the teleport device. Maybe you need the quest from your black spirit accepted in your questlog or something for it to show up. I don't know.

It's pretty overwhelming and the non existent endgame makes the grind debatable but I'm still playing

Level 63 is honestly the soft cap if you compare it to Elders rolls online 1350 CP is level 63 in BDO. The hard is level 70 from what PC players say because after level 70 months of grinding exp at the best place to farm exp with buffs months of grinding is 0.1 percent progression to 71.

Playing BDO is a lot like trying to buy a house- the best time to start was ten years ago, good luck trying to get your foot in the door now haha. I played pretty hard at the PS launch but then fell off for a month due to other responsibilities, and by the time I came back that was that. I still stop on from time to time but the performance and community are so awful its hard to want to give it any serious time. It was recently free on Steam so I snagged it for PC, may give it another spin at some point to see if it's still a mess.

They need to change the upgrade systems, it’s old and outdated since the game is 7y old. They should change it so that the items stop breaking on failed upgrade. And they can make it more expensive if they must but stop items from breaking, it’s insane. Also, people almost never sell quality upgraded gear on the CM.

Im disappointed this game was FREE to play at one point on console (psn) And now it doesn't show up in my library, gotta pay 30$ now if i wanna get back into So dumb because when i was playing the endgame is nonexistent which is a huge element

Been there, done that, never spending money on destiny again, the new dlc is kinda sucky too.

As for the CON about the game lore. First of all, the new lore-centric expansion, the Land of the Morning Sun, is totally quest-centric. It's true that the delivery is no the best (FF14 has the best storytelling), but amongst MMORPGS I think it stands somewhere mid-way. As for the lore, while the delivery of the main quest(s) is a bit underwhelming (mostly done through a 2-lines unvoiced dialog box), the lore is both deep and unique. Also, the environmental story-telling, that is the lore you can pick up by looking at how objects and structures are laid down in the world, is absolutely A rate. Without spoilers, the lore revolves around very mature themes, where "evil" isn't real, and both the "villain" and the "heroes" are actually just people trying to do the best for themselves and for the ones they love. The "you" in-game is not a spotless hero, it's just a guy looking out for themselves, which often, but not necessarily, aligns with the "greater good". Also, the overtone around the lore is something in the line of "beware the pity", where the road to hell is paved by too many mindless attempts at good deeds. BDO makes a good work of making the lore completely accessory to the game; it's not in your face, and you can just ignore it, if you wish. But once you see it, it's there and it's incredibly consistent, you start to see it even in the design of the movesets of the mobs, which frankly, is a level of game design that you won't find in even more "story centric" games as FF14.

Keep in mind this video was made before loml. Even then, the lore of the base game (black spirit, illezra, etc) is still fairly weak

The biggest con is the lack of end game PvE. This 100% lost it for me. What is the point of the grind if not for working toward a difficult raid?

the issue with bdo is the grind or p2w if you dont p2w in bdo you been grinding for hours to be at the top what all kinda want to be at TBH how it is in any mmorpg games you aim to get the best gear and so on let me say it like this for WEAPONS your looking at 420b lets say you make 1b a hour what im sure most ppl wont be making thats 420hours just for weapons gear is 1.24t yes 1.24 trillion 1240 hours of grinding accessories are 671b 671 hours of grind so to be at the top you need to grind 2331 hours "97days if you grind 24 hours in a day what you aint " have fun killing the same mobs for that amount of hours or p2w and hope the rng god is on your side or your looking to spend a lot off cash

I'll save you time. If you are a pve player this game is a hard pass.

@@plopsscopium bruh the pearl shop prices are outrageous. 60€ ship skin, 30+ outfits, 50 tent, 15 whistle, 10 for 1 pet and you need like 40 to max em all out? I can buy skins for all my weapons in csgo, which is a 10€ game, and those skins are cosmetic and dont give p2w stats for a fraction. Pearl items from market is a complete meme. Selling P items is terrible $ to silver ratio. Which is why they’re always 10000 preorders and 0 listings. They should’ve uncapped VP price so ppl would actually list it for others to buy and get their money’s worth, just like wow token. Even if it’s 1 bil or 10 bil. PA actually has sensible prices in korea, but for some reason they cracked up the prices to the max for western release to rip off some rich white kids l guess. You have to go from € to acoin to pearl with million items, discounts and coupons they’re using like every single mobile gaming trick in the book to milk you. If l could spend 14€ on a vp i’d do it, but no you have to buy for 20€ min to get enough.. or buy the 60€ one and get double pearls, it’s all such a non discrete convoluted scheme.

I think BDO is still P2W now. because its all about enhancing and the RNG. Most people don't spent their money to get End game gears straight up like WHALES, but to progress faster. Better gear >Better farming spots(better gears will always win on low and mid level contest)> Better Income > More Better gears>More enhancement tries>More success. This include the PEN Guaranteed system because you are going to grind like hell. As long as you can do this, people will never stop buying. So overall, You can pretty much get all the things without paying BUT...to compete in PvP or to get end game gear, you are not gonna play the game, you are going to grind and grind some more or you can Pay :D

@@yamchayakueven the arena is a meme. It’s closed for over half the year. There is also no tangible reward beside a win 1 match for 100 cron stones weekly. MMR is also bad, you move less rating the more you play. So if you fuck up your placements you’ll never catch up to the high mmr

The only huge downside this game has is upgrading your gear. I'm a lifeskiller so I hardly care for that rng enhancement.

Me personally I wouldn't call BDO pay to win. U mostly buying outfits.

The rng cant be a con unless its personal because the entire game system is built off of it. It makes better gear something to work towards to get a guaranteed or near guaranteed upgrade using other items. Instead of raid bosses with rng drops and lockouts you have to pay for the items with your hard earned farm money. And since the other half of the game is life skills means that everything is connected and worth doing, as well as virtually never running out of things to do.

I apparently lost my old account since they transferred services in 2021, which sucks because I was contemplating logging in again, but at least it's like $10 on steam.

As a PvE player, my short answer is no. The PvPer in me also says, no.

Best combat system i ever had in a mmo. Story ist ok, many chars/classes to play. Reason why i stopped. I hat games with no level stop. There is absolute no stop of level, no max, you can level and if you start later you will never reach highest level. Others are many bugs in the game. The biggest issue from my point is the armor increasing system with such a hard random. This is 1 reason to not play this game....it sucks so hard.

the one thing keeping me from playing this is forced pvp. I like the combat and fluid movement but forced pvp is a massive turn off.

@@BasedChadman It's not the brain that's the issue, but the bother. If you have no interest in PvP any time you spend on it is wasted compared to when it is devoted to doing what you enjoy. It's no different than the way many PvP players feel when they must devote time to PvE that they'd rather spend on doing what they enjoy.

Not really, every class has a female and male version. Just like witch(female) and wizard(male) and Ranger(female) and Archer(male) So you can play both genders, they’re basically called different things with slightly different movements.

Here you can click on this button to buy with pearls or buy houses for CP, but there’s no shortcut for that x) Wanna autocomplete your work order? sure pay some pearls just 1 click away x) SPECIAL OFFER JUST FOR YOU!! 10 MAID PACKAGE only 60€ errr acoins errr pearls Whole pet system, it was worse but it’s still fundamentally fkd. Yes you get pets from playing a long time, but there is 0 reason for pet tiers and pet enhancing to exist except to grab money. Sure you can grind with the base game or you can buy 50€ tent and make your grind time 50% more efficient, get more than 1 yellow loot every hour

You are entitled to your opinion but there are thousands perhaps hundreds of thousands people that disagree with you.

Im not very fun that the game is very solo but since until now literally there are no MMORPG for me to play i still do. I love the combat of course , i like to make my worker empire (currently 126 all artisan), doing some quests, exploring and grinding like 1-2h per day. Now im thinking what to tag to my NOVA im between TAMER/SORCERER/MEAGU

I'm upset cuz there's already making a new class for mobile bdo yet meagu still hasn't come out on console
