We are advocates of proper use of baking soda, aka sodium bicarbonate here at HealthyKidneyInc. Some background on sodium bicarbonate are as follows. This chemical compound is composed of salt, sodium cation, and bicarbonate anion and is commonly used as treatment for an assortment of bodily ailments. Sodium bicarbonate can be used as an antacid to relieve heartburn and acid indigestion. A doctor also may utilize sodium bicarbonate to make a patient's blood or urine less acidic.
When it comes to sodium bicarbonate as a supplement for helping kidney disease, it can be very helpful. In patients with chronic kidney disease, the kidneys can’t remove enough acid, which can lead to metabolic acidosis. For people with CKD, metabolic acidosis is defined as persistently low bicarbonate levels of less than 22 mEq/L in the blood. Tests are done by measuring a form of CO2 in the body.
By being a base, ingesting sodium bicarbonate can help your insides be less acidic. Talk to your doctor about whether sodium bicarbonate can be a good option to keep your PH levels in check when dealing with chronic kidney disease. A diet that derives its protein from plants, along with being rich in fruits and vegetables also helps with acid levels.

The research was carried out by Dr. Ione de Brito-Ashurst and colleagues from the Department of Renal Medicine and Transplantation, at the William Harvey Research Institute Barts, and the London NHS Trust in London. Good video. Nice to see someone that properly represents the benefits of alkalizing **urine**, and does not make the ridiculous claim that it impacts the blood pH. I take 60-80 milliequivalents of my own alkalizing mix daily.

You’re supposed to take it a nasty stomach writing a note in the morning couldn’t interact with other forms of medication that I take could I take it together?
Hi Doc , I bought kidney restore and took 2 capsules am and pm , but when taking it my bp went up high . By the way I'm ckd stage 5 patient undergoing dialysis please why my bp went up high but when I stopped taking it my bp was back to normal. Thanks Doc and God bless.

Sodium bicarb is as its little sodium and mostly bicarbonate. Should be keeping a low sodium diet regardless if they have blood pressure and kidney disease.

I purchased Bicarb Boost. Only concern: this WILL not disturb stomach acid while raising blood pH if in an acidic state? Obviously diet and whatnot plays a huge role. Just speaking generally…
