Is America About to Become an Anarchy? - Michael Malice

Patrick Bet-David sits down with anarchist and controversial, bestselling author Michael Malice. In this illuminating interview, Malice gives his view on the misconceptions about anarchism. “You have to get it out of your head that anarchism is no law and order,” he said. “Anarchism is the mother of order.” Malice is in favor of abolishing the government-police monopoly. Bet-David and Malice discuss what a world in anarchy would look like and whether or not America will turn to anarchy. Check out Malice’s new book The Anarchist Handbook: bit.ly/3q71zh8

    I love the libertarian/anarchism aspects. My biggest fear is that we are not a homogeneous society anymore. If we had the same faith and beliefs this could be possible. Unfortunately, we have people that live in the US that believe you can murder a woman for adultery for example. Pfff just make the government obsolete. We don't have city walls anymore, not because of a petition or a vote. Simply through use of technology, we are changing the world to be fully decentralised. Government and media power is based on tech, which they don't understand or feel the need to understand because "it's for nerds". We need a lot of people to speed up the process of cryptocurrency which pulls the currency monopoly away from the central banks and governments. We need a decentralised web to prevent censure and take the narrative power away from the government and media. We need people to become self-sufficient. I mean ideally food production and energy generation. We need to convince people that it safes them money and is healthier. This takes away the monopoly on the power grid and control of the food supply. We need apps, tech and normalisation to socially connect with your direct neighborhood. That would take away the demand for government, since people are demanding the government to fix their personal problems. We need to offer an alternative. We need to make open source software normalised. For example Linux to be normalised. This takes away the spying and data collection which grants Government and big tech immense power. We need to write books, whitepapers and frameworks on how transparency for businesses increases brand trust which makes the business more money. This makes lobbying harder. We need an open source news platform for independent journalism. I'm thinking of something like allsides.com which rates ideological or political bias for full transparency. These are just ideas on top of my head, but you can see the line of thinking and what my hypothesis is, on what it would achieve.

    What are you going to do about the people who prefer a centralized monopoly over a private monopoly? This is what I think Malice is missing, there’s no mechanism within anarchy to prevent coalitions from forming and creating centralized institutions of power. We got into this mess because of that inclination on behalf of humans. We want to form groups and culture always develops. How can anarchy exist within the prevalence of humans to form centralized groups that have power over individuals? He acknowledges in this interview that some people are wired in a way that they prefer centralized structures put in place for them. How does anarchy account for those people? It doesn’t because it doesn’t account for anything, and once people realized that they will join coalitions.

  • @escapedfromnewyork

    @escapedfromnewyork

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@painandabel571 You're missing the point. We have those centralized monopolies now. The significant difference is that in a world without "government", you may have the same issues crop up that crop up with government (and almost certainly will- there's no utopia) BUT you have the moral right to ignore them. You are not obliged to follow whatever the set up, whereas with government, the entire system is built with coercion as the default. You agree and all is good. You disagree and you will be compelled to obey whether you agree or not. Anarchists aren't saying that it will be a leaderless world. People always gravitate towards a leader, someone who possesses some expertise or nuance that helps them be better, live better or whatever. The difference is that the very instant a leader begins acting in a way that is detrimental to you or the group, you have the right to say, "No thanks buddy. I'm going my own way". That is not possible with "government" and it's why government is both illegitimate and immoral.

  • @painandabel571

    @painandabel571

    @@escapedfromnewyork I’m going to keep it short but I’d like to know what you think about this: in my opinion, institutions such as the cartel and the mafia also rely on coercion. When someone points a gun at your head, you have no moral obligation to give them what they desire, however he smart choice for you is to do it because in that moment, the perpetrator has power over you. I want to be clear, I basically am in favor of anarchy, however I don’t believe it would last because it didn’t last before. Human nature has a strong gm desire to group up and form coalitions, and culture always presents itself and cultures can easily evolve to prefer a centralized institution when that ends up being the easiest solution to their problems.

    This is why abolishing government schools should be priority number one for anyone who values freedom, whether libertarian or anarchist. As Malice always says, the only reason we even accept the status quo as normal and natural is because we've been trained since birth to regard it as normal. If you were told about the status quo for the first time as an adult, it would be rightly regarded as nightmarishly dystopian. Forget every other libertarian cause for a moment. Destroying government schools is what literally everyone needs to be focusing on. I agree about friends and family responses in hard times. When my brother died, I had friends who avoided me because my sadness overwhelmed them and made them uncomfortable AND I had friends that dropped everything they were doing and traveled across the country and world to sit with me in my pain. Their presence, even in silence meant the world to me. That experience made me update my standards for friendship and relationships. Maybe it's my Irish family, but all my family showed up: aunts, uncles, cousins, even great-uncles/aunt's and second cousins. Grandparents too. And they helped... clean, cook, grieve, laugh. I have a great family.

    Sometimes we have to face our sadness alone. We especially learn to love ourselves during such challenges. I remember a few years ago when I was struggling with stage 4 cancer. I felt so alone. My facebook page was so quiet until one day a young friend halfway across the globe messaged me and asked how I was doing. It really lifted me up. It's special moments like that that kept me hanging in there until I beat the cancer a year later. Life can be so full of surprises. I stopped watching 18min in when he went through the nonsense about policing. This isn't a new concept. It's not like we haven't had his scenario in this country before, WE HAVE. It's called: "The 19th Century West". Lawlessness, drunkenness, prostitution, violence RULED the environment. Decent, intelligent people avoided these areas like the plague, adding to the problem. ONLY when a societal-controlled law and order established itself did these things diminish. I think the problem here is the fact that government is no longer via 'the consent of the governed', but has become its own entity; a power independent of the people. THAT is the problem. Not formal morality and the enforcement of those values.

    @@-redacted_by_youtube Tell me that you know nothing about Anarchy without saying that you know nothing about Anarchy. An = Without, Archy = Rulers. It is absolutely not "in the name" of Anarchy to abuse systems and exploit people. We advocate for the absence of the system so there is not a tool by which control could be exerted over others. It's not the Anarchist's who use the system against you, it's other Statists like yourself who believe that so long as it's their side who holds the monopoly on violence that the government is not only legitimate but necessary. It is your fellow Statists who will use the very same laws you pass to protect yourselves against you. How can we who have no regard for the laws or the people who write them use those things against you? We should absolutely be governing ourselves and anybody who is successful in doing so is too busy to seek governing others or asking others to. There is no "getting our government back on track" because this is the natural progression of ALL governments. They all lead to tyranny. The word revolution comes from the latin word revolvere, which means to cycle back or circle around. It doesn't matter how many times you reset the clock, it will still run just the same if not worse. Anybody who seeks to control others is by definition not an Anarchist, you cannot live at odds with your own philosophy and remain what you claim to be. We desire to be left alone to live as we choose and if we expect those wishes to be legitimate, then that requires that we allow others to do the same. We do not have a license to manipulate and cause harm because doing so legitimizes when others to seek to do so to us. Anarchy means to live without rulers, it doesn't mean to live without morals and those who live without them do not require Anarchy to do so; they live that way already in today's society.

    Not really, he's at the level of 14-yo intellectual. Maybe 101 "on the charts" None of his ideas are new or without real-world examples today, he just ignores that wherever people form their own anarchic societies without interacting with official authorities it turns into Feudal Hell - Prison, inner city bloods and crips, sicilian mafia, capulets and montagues - wherever people are left alone to create their own structure, feudalism follows. He has a schoolboy utopian idea everything would always work out for the 'greater good'. Even Karl Marx would feel embarrassed by some of this guy's ideas.. Instead of realizing that just "the biggest guy punches you in the face and takes what he wants" - which is what would really happen in about 10 seconds flat. Prison would turn him away from 'anarchy' as a desirable model in about 1 day. IF you bring guns into it you just end up that the most accurate shot and fastest draw gets everything - wild west, instead of the hardest punch. You're just moving the concept. At some point for long lasting peace, you need a neutral third party. And suddenly, you have just re-invented government all over again.

Granted, having a bunch of "Homer Simpsons", "Peter Griffin's", "Al Bundys", or Scott Adam's "Pointy-haired-bosses" running around being in charge of things is NOT a good idea either. But I often wonder if there are some people I suspect, (or know for SURE), that have higher IQ's than my own, if they might get bored much more quickly than the rest of us "dullards", and, as a result, might be prone to engage in more unnecessary shit disturbing (which often ends up with much shit hitting more than one "fan".) It's just a theory of mine, and my own IQ is insufficient to design a scientific experiment to prove or disprove such a theory. 🤣😐

    IMO - in the "stealing the car" discussion, the issue is not that there aren't "rules and order", the issue is that you don't need GOVERNMENT to reset the rules and maintain the order. We pay for government to do all the things Patrick relies on to maintain law and order . . . but they don't and they still collect the money and favor their friends. Who needs them? Think about how pervasive government rules and authority are - in most cities you need to get a permit to install a garbage disposal (if one didn't exist before.) WTF? Government can and has become CANCEROUS. Look at milquetoast Canada - arresting pastors for church services. The better question with regard to Anarchic society is "what is the bare minimum we need government to do?" and limit it to that.

    If you call the police about a stolen car or if someone broke into your home and stole things, they're not going to actually investigate. If someone happens to get pulled over in your car you may get it back, but the police will put 0 effort into it. It's much easier for them to pull over people who's cars smell like weed and search them for drugs, or hand out tickets. Police are already incredibly ineffective in so many ways, so I guess Malice has a point when he says all the criticisms he hears about anarchism already exist under the status quo.

If a person reports a crime, the person reporting it is likely to be treated as the suspect. It's like police want to teach the public a lesson not to bother them. The laws seem to create criminals in many cases. The cops often act like criminals, almost everything we do can be interpreted as a crime, and even defending ourselves is being criminalized.

I was given the "I will not tolerate bullying" speech by a teacher once because I pushed back the kid bullying me that I just happened to be bigger than. The same kid was friends with the captain of the football team who got in my face and threatened that I would have to fight him if I hurt his friend again. Cap was a really decent fellow and we had gotten along well in the past. He just wanted to protect his friend, and couldn't believe that his friend would have pushed me first. Recognized victimhood status gives an outsized power to appeal to authority to achieve one's own ends. Hot take here: that is the problem with our country and the influence of women. Women have driven what is socially acceptable for 100 years because they decide elections, are more interested in making the government a parental figure over all of us and they can ALWAYS pull the 'poor victim who needs sympathy' card out of their deck....even when they murder their own children. It's unfashionable to say and is social suicide, but its my true belief. The female voice in politics is the tip of the spear and its how we get vaccine mandates. I agree with him about the defunding of the police. As a senior citizen, working my last few years driving late at night I've been tailgated and followed by police for no apparent reason I've never had a DUI committed any crimes or violations. I've made several complaints and reports to the police. Apparently, I lived in a town where there was nothing much going on, and these police had nothing to do except follow people around because they needed to find something to do late at night when I needed to make deliveries. They were giving out citations or warnings for no reason other than to meet a quota. Even though that they say that they don't. All these cops are in the masonry Brotherhood and they stick up for each other and there is no law that you could fight. I started to understand that "backing the blue" was something I was never going to do again after my experiences. My friend who is at a peaceful protest got attacked by BLM terrorists, and the police stood by and did nothing. That's what I realize they're not here to protect and defend us but here to humiliate and intimidate us all in the effort to collect revenue for the state. I was probably the one that sparked the defund the police idea back in 2020.

    The problem is that we’ve tried this before. And what happened is the biggest companies hired the most security and they were able to get away with murder, literally. A small central government was supposed to protect the individual from this. The government is out of control and needs to be reigned in but to throw it out is to forget the lessons already learned.

    you're describing anarcho-capitalism. you're not wrong because historically, anarchism was fiercely opposed to all forms of oppression including large privately owned companies exerting their will on laborers. If Michael Malice was truly an anarchist, he would be opposed to the private ownership of large economically productive institutions. He would be opposed to capitalism and a total lefty progressive, but he's not. He's trying to co-opt the word anarchism to mean a right/conservative, just like they did with the word libertarianism in the early 1900s.

People with malice, ego, narcissism, ill contempt etc would be constantly asserting dominance. If a gang of 6 guys wanted your stuff, your wife, your daughter and you didn't have at least the option of calling police, how could you even function on a day to day basis? Organized crime would be rampant, supply chains broken, feudalism between communities, all of it. Rules would be different every where you go you couldn't keep up with it. I think Micheal Malice is niave to think this would work.

    I love that for the whole liquor store conversation, they both fail to touch on the fact that the only conceivable reason that there would be one single liquor store in a 40 mile radius is because of state alcohol regulations and state-run liquor stores! Alcohol is one of the most popular and profitable commodities in the modern world. In a free market, there would be as many stores in any given area as people would support, and even in a low-population area, a single store that consistently had very poor customer service would easily give rise to a competitor because it would be one of the most obvious choices in town for anyone who was looking to start a business.

    His points are true anarchism. The reason the public has been told that anarchism is evil is because if the government no longer speaks for the population then they have no power and cannot control the population. The word country literally means LAND. The land isn't the government, and the government isn't land. We need to stop putting inaccurate definitions on words and pushing it onto others. That's part of why people have such a skewed view of what anarchy is.

  • @matthewbogue9283

    I like the "idea" of anarchy. I can see how government or whatever dominating structure in place has been the problem in most horrible things that have happened in world history. But... People crave leadership by nature (or by design, in my opinion). It makes them feel secure to have a leadership structure in place. And some people are natural leaders. They will always desire to lead and have authority over other people. So I don't think anarchy is possible. At the very least, there would always be mafia/warlord type leadership. Anarchy wouldn't last. I think it's just a matter of what type of leadership structure do you want in society? Personally, in the U.S. I think the main problem is too much control of the federal government. Each state should be WAY more independent. And each county in that state should be pretty autonomous too. And each city within that county can have its own independent flavor. If we break down power to pieces, but don't demolish it altogether, it seems to me it would work a lot better than it currently does. Seems like this is what our founding fathers intended...

I have much evidence to substantiate all this. My books show much, but not all regarding covid, though in EXPOSING THE MONEY MACHINE (published MAY 2016)I warned that GAtes was planning to reduce world population using vaccinations. I was in the USSR in 1987 when there was KGB. I agree with you. Americans who claim racism and want to live in a socialist country have NO FRIGGIN' IDEA! These people would NEVER MAKE IT IN THE OLD SOVIET UNION!. Upon my return to America after a month in USSR, I WAS NEVER SO HAPPY TO COME BACK TO ÀMERICA!! I am grateful beyond words to be in this country.! .

    I've met a Scottish male from Scotland who is a real hard-core commie, but here's the catch. He wants to eliminate not just royal families, but everyone that stands in his own way and wants to revive Celtic religion. The thought of what he is going to just horrifies me beyond belief. And if he somehow proves that he is serious and that the United Kingdom went silent, I hope to God that he doesn't focus on the US.

    As someone who has been to prison multiple times, reputation is a bigger deterrent to the type of crimes that criminals commit! Jail is not a deterrent. There is more freedom in prison over my personal actions then there is on the streets. Unless you have spent time there you will not understand. They may take away the luxuries but the amount of power o er self that I have is paramount!
